I might be looking to buy low on Howard.

Or in Howard's case, the week after.Long Ball Larry said:Trying owning both.
but I still think that the volume is there for both, so on to next week....
Purely a gameplan. Howard will still have his up and down weeks but after 3 weeks we should know how terrible the Bucs coverage is, easily the worst in the league. Run D is actually OK for them.I didn't watch the game, but just based on the box score, I have to assume they saw something in Tampa's D that they figured they could exploit with Cohen's speed. I'm not at all convinced this will continue going forward.

I think that's the problem, Nagy doesn't want to run the ball he's just like Andy Reid. He thinks hes got some gunslinger with Trubisky and wants to throw it all over the field. Also Howard isn't even consistently getting redzone opportunities because Nagy has these crazy redzone packages which limits Howards value. The guy isn't very explosive so unless he can score td's I can't see him finishing in the top 20.This was Nagy’s dream of what he’d like the offense to look like. But it will never look like this again and whether he likes it or not he’s going to have to figure out how to use Howard effectively.
Exactly! I blame myself. Having been around Teid and his ilk all these I should have known better but bought into the hype of Howard improving his hands. I just don't see how you can trust this guy. It's gonna really hard to predict game flow. For me he'll be a bye week play at best.I think that's the problem, Nagy doesn't want to run the ball he's just like Andy Reid. Who knows how this turns out but there aren't too many time you want the slower of the two guys on the field.I didn't watch the game, but just based on the box score, I have to assume they saw something in Tampa's D that they figured they could exploit with Cohen's speed. Maybe, but what did Cohen get, 20 touches in that game? No way he could hold up with that workload week to week.Who knows how this turns out but there aren't too many time you want the slower of the two guys on the field.
I’m ok with selling White.Trying to sell high on James White this week
It depends on how you "feature" him. Cohen is short but he is not small. He is solidly built for his stature and is able to absorb hits and bounce off. He never really takes a huge hit. He has been doing this his whole football life. Getting 20 carries a week between the tackles isn't going to be smart usage but getting 12-15 carries in spread situations and 5-8 receptions every week is something he can do. The question is will the coaching staff commit to this or was this strictly a specific strategy used to exploit TB. Obviously it worked this week but I don't have any confidence that this will be a consistent plan moving forward.Had high hopes for Howard this season, but he's clearly not being given enough touches. Not sure if that will change anytime soon. Cohen looks great and is faster, but he's far too small to be a featured RB. The Bears have a pretty easy schedule against the run, so I'm still holding at this point.
And yet that was the case each of the first three weeks, by snap count and utilization.Who knows how this turns out but there aren't too many time you want the slower of the two guys on the field.
This sums it up nicely. Cohen could be used in a very fantasy-friendly way, or he could go back to being droppable like he has been the first three weeks. It depends on how you "feature" him. Will most likely change based on the match up. Howard was held in check by JPP and McCoy. The Bears had everything else working for them and didn't need Howard as much as they would in other games. It sucks for Howard owners but it was a well coached game.Had high hopes for Howard this season, but he's clearly not being given enough touches. Not sure if that will change anytime soon. I think that's more his ceiling. I suspect 7-10 carries is more realistic. That was pretty much what I assumed when I drafted Howard; the volume he was getting at Cohen's expense over the first three weeks was the bigger surprise. Today it shifted all the way in the other direction. It depends on how you "feature" him. Cohen is short but he is not small. He is on the extreme end of small for an NFL RB: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C_t2ROpW0AA8EW7.jpgIt depends on how you "feature" him. Cohen is short but he is not small. Tavon Austin is taller but he is not built like Cohen. They weigh the same but Cohen is built better to absorb hits. He is more compact with a much bigger base (lower half). Cohen does not shy away from contact but also avoids direct hits unless he is delivering the blow. They are two completely different body types although similar in size. I never said he should be featured between the tackles or would hold up to that type of usage but utilizing him exactly how they did yesterday is perfectly fine and Cohen will be able to manage that type of usage. He is on the extreme end of small for an NFL RB: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C_t2ROpW0AA8EW7.jpg
He may end up being the exception to the rule, but seriously Tavon Austin is bigger than this guy.
I agree. I didn't say that he should be used that way but that it is something he can do and be affective if utilized that way. I do not think his size would preclude him from that type of usage but I don't think they will use him that way. I think this was a specific game plan for TB and Cohen will go back to the frustrating FF player we have all come to hate (Clogging your roster and never knowing when to put him in).I think that's more his ceiling. Lovely. That's the worst situation for Fantasy. Glad they are on bye this week.Faust said:
Interesting observation, and one I think you can use going forward. A funnel D is one that is stout against the run and soft against the pass, thus funneling production to receivers and the outside.Tampa had a D that likes to funnel the runners outside, I guess that why they used Cohen more. Kamara got TB on the outside, he only ran 8/29/2. Clement and Ajayi got stuffed up the gut too, they ran for 6/30/1 and 7/23/1 respectively. Conner went 15/61/0...all the RB damage has come out of the passing game against he TB Def this year. Kamara 9/112/1 and Clement 5/55/0 and Conner 5/34. With the exception of TDs, which none happen to come yesterday for Howard, they have controlled the RB while "running" quiet well for the most part, I guess this is what Nagy saw. The statements that Howard needs to be in a Blount roll with his history is crazy to me. Slow down on the panic on Howard, football is a matchup game. As you may have watched, Nagy planned right. McCoy is not slouch up the middle you know. I was down in Tampa this past week, some people pointed this out to me.
Maybe but how many Howard owners are 1-3 or 0-4? I’m guessing over 50%.Jordan Howard will be fine
I'm 3-1Maybe but how many Howard owners are 1-3 or 0-4? I’m guessing over 50%.
This is just going to be a cat & mouse game with high ceiling, high floor. And the main attraction of Howard is that he’s supposed to be a workhorse, he’s obviously not.Faust said:
I'm trying to trade for him right now. I can't imagine him being under used every week. He's going to have some big games.I'm starting to think this guy is a stiff. This week he's ranked pretty high and I have him in two standard leagues and yet I can't see playing him over the likes of Lindsey or even Clement. Anybody feel like he's a strong play this week?
Morris over him? Yuck.I'm thinking of sitting him this week until he proves he's back. I have Hyde and Alfred Morris in over him
Juicy match up though
it's kind of a yuck but i think Morris has a much higher floor at this point. He'll at least catch a couple of passes.Morris over him? Yuck.
As an owner of this guy for the 2nd straight year, I'm gonna tell ya that is a bad idea. Don't start him and he goes off. Start him the next week and get 30 yards.I'm thinking of sitting him this week until he proves he's back. I have Hyde and Alfred Morris in over him
Juicy match up though
Week 10 and 12 provides us with the wet paper bag (Lions).I just have a gut feeling Howard is going to blow up during the second half of the season so I'm trying to grab shares of him wherever I can. The window to grab him may only last through Sunday.
Interesting, I just read one of the subscriber articles that said:I am debating trotting Cohen out precisely because I think MIA's D is stouter up the middle -- just last week, Mixon's big gains were lining up on the outside and finding a seam under coverage for a catch and TD; another big gain was due to Mixon, being stuffed up the middle, was able to bounce it outside for a 31-yard gain.
Don't get me wrong, I think Howard can find success, but I think the D's proclivities may play into Cohen's game more than Howard. We'll see.
I haven't watched a lot of Miami this season, curious if others agree this will be more of a Cohen game for the Bears.- Miami opponents have run the second-most rushing plays (script-independent) in the NFL.
- Opponents run against Miami on 44.6% of its neutral-script plays, the 12th-highest ratio in the NFL.
...
Expect Jordan Howard to have a big day against Miami. The Dolphins don't stop the run well, and Howard owns the rushing attempt in Chicago's backfield. Tarik Cohen's Week 4 emergence prior to the bye week was likely specific to Chicago's pass-heavy game plan vs. Tampa Bay's funnel defense.
I’m torn between Howard and Beast Mode this weekend. I think they both get in the end zone but not sure if it’ll be a 40/1 type of day or a 120/1 type of day.Interesting, I just read one of the subscriber articles that said:
