RB Jordan Mason, MIN (11 Viewers)

oh well TDP stinks and Shanny is an idiot. I’ll still hold because Wilson or Deebo will probably go down next with the way Shanny runs them
I'm always happy to post back and forth and I didn't pile on you or call you out immediately but this is not a cool post in the Shark Pool. And we don't need Mods, don't be wishing for injures so your guy can finally get a touch, that's very telling about where we are in this situation.

You didn't enjoy all the Wilson-Starter posts and all the back up links that pointed to it but you professed that Mason would be the clear standing guy this past Sunday.
Sometimes it's just better to eat a little crow, and I would also think very little of you if you start celebrating injuries. You can do it in your house all you want but usually on the boards, it's considered poor sportsmanship.

It's early in the season, you took a stance this week and props for having a passion for Mason but this week I would be humble if I were you.

Cheers!

When did I celebrate. Shanny stinks and he’s gonna get fired if the injuries keep piling up. Garapolo is better than Lance clearly and Lance started. Same things happening here. TDP stinks

Shanny is in year six. The injuries have (and are) piling up. He'll get fired over wins and losses and play-off appearances (or lack thereof) - same as every other coach.

Looks like you won't be humble about being wrong on Mason this week. Everyone would have a lot more respect for you if you did. It's one thing to have everyone think a certain way of you, but it's quite another to open your mouth (or keyboard) and remove all doubt.

I was wrong clearly. TDP still stinks

And starting players who stink. Lance stinks and so does TDP. Garapolo is better

This isn't about TDP. Wilson had over 100 yards as the back with the most touches and several people tried to warn you. All you're doing right now is deflecting off of Mason and onto TDP. It's definitely doubling down to some extent. Perhaps now is the time to not post and let this go away peacefully.

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath on @ohio#1eaglesfan he had some fun making a bold call, that he acknowledged earlier this week probably wouldn't pay off. He's having fun, go easy.

The piling on is just as bad, if not worse, than his bold (clearly not entirely serious) predictions.
We don't want to pile on, but he's doubling down now by deflecting Mason and pointing at TDP. Sure, if he had eaten some crow and let this die a peaceful death, so would everyone else. He's acting as if TDP was shoved on us and ignores Wilson's day.

This is an odd post from a guy who appeared to actively celebrate Lance's injury yesterday and then doubled down after I pointed it out.

Maybe you were being tongue-in-cheek when you told me to "Shove it" yesterday. Maybe not. Text is an imperfect medium.

Probably best to return to discussing Mason's weighty accomplishments yesterday. Can't wait to drop him in waivers this week.

Celebrate? I gave up a ton in one league for Lance and have him in another dynasty league. Hell, I'm grieving his injury. Just because I said I had a feeling I should pickup Jimmy G earlier in the week is irrelevant with how I feel about Lance's injury.

Wilson didn’t stink

So you were wrong. That/s OK, I won't hold a grudge, even though you played the ole' "don't pat yourself on the back' for picking up Jimmy G. I hardly think he's a league winner or anything special. Hell, he wouldn't start on any of my teams regardless of the Lance injury.

I don't know about depth chart but even if Mason is 3rd on the availability chart until Mitchell is back, he's still fantasy relevant. Then again I'm the sort of person who keeps extra napkins in my glove box.

Not fantasy relevant enough to be starting him ;)

Shanny is stubborn and will give TDP every opportunity to fail. Very disappointing. At least give Mason a chance to ride the hot hand like he said he would.

Actually, he's a great buy right now in dynasty. Close to zero value. Given the way Shanahan coaches and how his RBs get injured historically, it's likely that Mason gets a chance at some point.
I do agree with that. Unfortunately in my deep keeper league, due to injuries elsewhere, I need the roster spot now and can't wait on him.

No one listens to Niners fans who said Wilson was arguably better than Mitchell. Noooooo, everyone got all excited about 2 rookies.

Just sayin.

That’s not a bad take. I did not drop him in the league I have a share, nor would I.

Still - my team is a total rebuild. it’s hard for a competitive team to clog a roster spot with him for a year hoping that happens.

Oh, no doubt. It all depends on how deep your rosters are. I'm in one league with 43-man rosters, another with 60-man rosters. In those leagues, he's worth a shot.

Mason may eventually get a chance to show what he can do, but that time isn't here yet.

What exactly does Shanahan do that causes injuries?
Those are separate points. 1) Shanahan loves to find diamonds in the rough at RB and doesn’t commit to RBs, 2) his RBs have had injuries in recent years, for whatever reason. Separate points. I’m not implying that his coaching has led to injuries.

You are correct, you did male them separate points. My bad.

Ooh, I'll go there. As head coach and final arbiter of play selection and theory, his plays are designed in a way that guys get hurt.
I have heard you talk about this a few times, it's interesting. This is the Mike Shanahan, Alex Gibbs system, which Kubiak eventually took down to Houston. Does the data support the hypothesis if you go back to the Denver Bronco days does it hold up? Weren't both Olandis Gary and Terrell Davis injuries non-contact?

Not sure if you are joking, but it did strike me as funny.

I was being funny, but I'm dead serious about the point I was making.

His wide zone scheme where guys come almost in motion to the ball via a sweep or stretch play get players to such speeds as to get them hurt on contact. Think of a car. It's easier to accelerate once moving and the crashes that occur at impact are more seriously damaging the faster one is going. The offense is running at high tempo, the defense is at high tempo, and then you have impact.

It's why the NFL has tried to get rid of motion on special teams. It gets guys killed. Did you see the hit Christian Watson took on his jet sweep last night that Collinsworth and Tirico were talking about, commenting about, and embellishing a bit? Same principle. Jet sweeps get guys crunched. So does any play where you're starting with a full head of steam, and Shanahan gets his guys the ball that way. It maximizes both performance and impact.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about only Kyle takes it to a new level. I'm no football savant, but I'm really pretty sure it's not long term data that would most support my hypothesis, it'd be basic physics and bodies at motion studies that support my hypothesis or contradict it.

I'm open to being wrong. I just can't get past the basic physics of what's going on with their bodies. Enough data was done on special teams to get rid of motion and head starts, why would that not apply to normal plays?

Not saying you ban their systems, but think about them critically every time they start missing guys and we chalk it up to luck.

So ... I guess this means he didn't hate Sermon, or Mason now, and actually  loves them! He's just looking out for their health.
