RB Jordan Mason, SF (8 Viewers)

He may or not eventually be listed as the #2 running back. But IF CMC went down for an extended period I still see Mitchell(assuming he's not hurt) as getting a good share of the touches at the position.
Agreed. But Mitchell is a pretty reasonable bet to miss time as well.

Isn't he out of practice with something ATM?
Every running back on the team has been out for one thing or another.
Has Mason been out?

Not recently, played in the first preseason game.
Missed some practice time early in camp.

Elijah Mitchel put on season ending IR

Elijah Mitchell has been placed on injured reserve, ending his season. (Source: Ari Meirov on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Mitchell has struggled with a hamstring injury this offseason and is now being placed on injured reserve, which will end his season. This clears the way for Jordan Mason to be the sole backup behind Christian McCaffrey, which increases his value as a handcuff significantly.

Jordan Mason is the CMC handcuff

I'm struggling to decide if I should drop Braelen Allen to pick Mason up. CMC is getting up there in age/miles but I am sure Deebo would be getting a decent chunk of plays out of the backfield as well if CMC were to go down.

I wouldn’t worry about Deebo stealing too many carries from Mason, I’ve never seen a player get hurt as much/often as Deebo. I would pickup Mason without hesitation now.

Dropped Tyrone Tracy for the last spot on my bench when I saw the news. Kid looks legit and on that offense if CMC goes down he could be huge.

Anyone worried about Isaac GUERENDO? Or is Mason the absolute slam dunk hundo P handcuff?
I think Mason is a slam dunk. The only thing Guerendo has done was a big kick return vs the Saints, I think that's gonna be his main role (along w/special teams) and the main reason he made the 53 man. He might get a carry here or there but he's no threat to RB2.

Without going back in this thread, who was the poster that had a boner for Mason and everyone was shooting him down? He may have been a couple of years too soon.

In the draft yesterday, couldn't help it snipped Mason from the CMC owner. I wonder if Mason will get any run, to keep CMC healthy?

Mason went round 13 of 27 in an IDP draft (3RR) yesterday. To a 49er fan, of course.

As the CMC owner I would have considered him around 15-16th round.

He took him ahead of:
• Warren
• Chubba
• Gus
• Brooks
• Corum
• Chandler
• Allgeier

I would have thought he’d be tiered up in the Benson, Wright, Charbonnet group.

Remarkable.

Lol maybe me. See page 13, which was from last season.
I believe it was someone else, but I could be wrong.
Thought about that as well - it was ohio#1eaglesfan.

ETA: decided against @‘ing him
Yes, that is who it was, thanks. Has he been around lately? I would think he would be in this thread now for sure. Or have I missed that too?

I just read a post of his from 8/14. He's back :)

Took him at 11.12, 132nd player and 51st RB overall in the FBG draft that, apparently everyone is jealous they did not participate in.

I am not the CMC manager.

Got him at 14.05, 135th player, and 45th RB overall in my super-flex draft yesterday that, apparently no one is jealous they did not participate in.

I am not the CMC manager in that one either.

I mean, I think Shanahan would prefer to be able to at least spell CMC. I don't think it would be a Freeman/Coleman 65/35 split, that would be nuts, but I have to imagine Shanahan would like to come close in a perfect world.

Shanahan wants to, but in his head it's so hard to take CMC off the field because he's so damn good, even though logic says he should spell him more and not run him into the ground. He knows he should but he just can't bring himself to do it.

The thing is, Shanny has said for years that he wants to spell CMC. But CMC never wants to come off the field. Shanny has said he wants to "save Christian from himself", but they get into the flow of the game and CMC is out there doing CMC things, and rarely comes off the field.

I vividly recall a couple of times Shanny tried to get CMC out of the game and CMC shook him off like a pitcher shaking off a sign from a catcher.

I don't see that changing this year either.

lol - posted similar things at the same time.

Shanny is the coach. Perhaps he should act like it. It’s his job to save CMC from himself.

Oh yeah, Shanahan needs to save CMC from Shanahan as much as he does from CMC. He's the head coach if he calls a player out, the player comes out. It's baffling to think CMC could just refuse to leave if the head coach really wanted to press the issue. CMC stays in because Shanahan allows it.

Again, I don't think it will be a 65/35 split but I do believe Mason could play himself into a 25% share or more. Kid has barely gotten any run but he flashes legit every time he gets an opportunity.

If I were @Hot Sauce Guy now is when I would point out that I said the same thing first, only you already posted it.

:p

Again, this has been the theme for the last couple of seasons. It's not like he hasn't said it a dozen times - just never seems to happen. I can only say what is, not what people want it to be.

I give it 15% tops.

Oh, I get it. Not directing it at you, just following the logical flow of your post. Kyle can say it all he wants - but he’s the **** coach and should act like it.

Even if he keeps reeling off at 5.6 per carry? Zero room to play himself into a Tevin Coleman role?

I do not claim to have posted my Bromance for him but I was on the bandwagon…. Front row seat if not the conductor …

It was ohio#1eaglesfan that I was trying to think of.

I definitely jumped on board last year because of you and, apparently some guy from Ohio who likes the Eagles.

Doubt it. Never say never. Shanny loves him some CMC.
He does. It's crazy he hasn't hired someone to protect him, and CMC, from himself.

Then again, maybe he realizes he can run CMC into the ground because he knows Mason is just as good.

Wait! ...Better!!

Yup, that tracks
