Redraft only: anyone picking him up to gamble on the post bye rookie bump? Swift looks bad. Ben Johnson already knows this from Detroit. Any other narratives? I can drop Tuten for him in one league. In another just a second defense. Just haven’t seen much. I watched his touches this season and he does not wow me at all, however. But what do I know.
I think the bolded would be a huge mistake.
The problem with your narrative is if Ben Johnson thought Swift sucked and because, as you say, he knew it already then why on earth would he ignore the position in FA, wait to round 7 to draft a RB and do nothing the first 4 weeks of the year but load up Swift?
I think Kyle should be on a roster in most leagues, I've picked him up in a few he's been dropped, but I would not be able to say with any confidence he's going to overtake Swift anytime soon. Not impossible, not a "no chance" thing, just seems doubtful to me. Bears lack of urgency to address the RB position since Ben Johnson got the job is a little puzzling, but again if anything that's an indicator that he does not view Swift in the negative light you think he does.
But the main thing is, don't cut Tuten. I think you asked this in another thread as well. His playing time has been limited but his flashes have been ultra impressive and when he's finally able to shed the no-contact orange jersey for his hurt shoulder at practice I think his usage will tick up. Not overtaking ETN, but possibly enough for some flex value and he's I think he's absolutely smash if ETN went out. Could argue he's the best handcuff in the league right now.
