Did the same thing last week.  He's scheduled to come IR next week and with Carson going on IR, perfect timing.  Hoping Collins doesn't go off but if he does, I still opportunity for Penny as long as he can stay healthy.  I remember about two years ago he had a really nice window of games but has been riddled with injuries throughout his career thus far

 
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Rashaad Penny (calf) will be activated from injured reserve this week. 

The fact that Penny will only have been on injured reserve for the minimum of three weeks is a promising sign that he's near full health, a rare statement for the oft-injured runner. The Seahawks are already down Chris Carson, who is on injured reserve with a neck injury. Alex Collins started in Week 6 but is now questionable with hip and glute issues. Penny would return to the starting role if Carroll's optimism about his health is correct. Penny is worth stashing in all fantasy leagues as a potential RB2 if Collins is unable to play this week.

I'd love to have that option, but with Akers, Chubb, and Saquon all likely still on the shelf, he may be going straight in to my lineup.

Note the post I replied to. I meant before having the guts to utter "League Champion" - which I hope was in jest. Obviously you play him if needed until he breaks down, which hopefully does not happen, again.

I have been a bit critical of Alex Collins, but Collins played well down the stretch Sunday night.  Penny is potentially more dynamic, but I agree it will be difficult to trust him as anything more than a desperation play until we see him in a meaningful role.  Penny is an intriguing stash, but his injury history is lengthy.

Yeah, I know what you meant. I just wanted to take the opportunity to complain about RB injuries since no one in my league cares, either 😂 

Anyway, here's hoping Penny gets back soon and can at least be a week-winner!

Here in Philly, bobo is slang for knock off. So like "he got them Bobo Jordans" or "Mom bought the Bobo cereal."

That's better than some of the urban dictionary meanings I saw.  :lmao:

On Penny, this guy is just so frustrating. I targeted him heavily in a dynasty and one of the metrics I look at when targeting RB is injury history. In college, he played 10, 14, 14 and 13 games (they had only 13 games in 2017). So basically, iron man. Not only running as a tailback, but as a return specialist who has more violent collisions. Yet, the guy can't seem to make it through an NFL contest without coming away with some sort of injury. There's a part of me that wants to view him as an unfortunate Fred Taylor type, who got dinged early in his career but became more reliable. I just don't know what to make of it.  

 
TBH I would be surprised if Penny made it to halftime, he is that chronically injury prone.....I wouldn't pin my hopes and dreams on him.

“The news was also positive on running back Alex Collins, who was unable to finish Sunday's game with hip and glute injuries.

"He's going to practice today, so that's a good sign," Carroll said. "He went through walkthrough today and looked OK”

Carroll then added, "Really a number of guys that got banged a little bit in the game were able to go through walkthrough and we'll see what we can get in a limited fashion from them in practice today, but really encouraging in that regard.

The Seahawks are also expecting to get running back Rashaad Penny back from injured reserve to help bolster the rushing attack.

"I'm really excited to get Rashaad on the field and playing for us," Carroll said. "He's gunning to go, he's ready, this is the right time for him to come roaring back. I'm hoping he'll have a chance to be a big factor in the game. Alex is playing great football, Alex was able to practice today—competition's a beautiful thing—so you'll see how we do it."

The 25-year-old was back on the field for the first time since Sept. 12, when he injured his calf in the Seahawks' season-opening win over the Colts. According to Ty Dane Gonzalez of SI.com, Penny was a full participant in the portion of Thursday's practice that was open to the media, which seemingly bodes well for the running back making good on head coach Pete Carroll's prediction that he'll be available to play Monday against the Saints. Meanwhile, Chris Carson (neck) is stuck on IR through Week 9, and the next man up out of the backfield, Alex Collins (groin) didn't practice Thursday and is uncertain to suit up this week. As such, Penny could find himself with a decent-sized workload Week 7, assuming the Seahawks are comfortable reinstating him from IR prior to Saturday's deadline for roster moves

Will be interesting to see if Collins practices today or tomorrow.

 
I have Collins slated as a 2nd starting back for me this week, and I really don't want to roll the dice on Khalil Herbet. Is the pick up here Penny or Deejay Dallas? I only have room for one.

I would think Penny is the traditional RB that would get the carries if he truly is healthy. Deejay showed that he's the 3rd back though. So for PPR, it might not be a bad play to go with Dallas.

I'm non-PPR, so yeah, I guess Penny is the guy. I'll see what happens by tomorrow night. Gotta think if Collins doesn't practice by tomorrow, he's not happening.

If D Williams doesn’t go, I think Herbert is the stronger play out of all of those. Follow the volume. Even against a tough run defense. Saints are second best run defense so I’ll take my eyeball talent of Herbert over Penny/Collins split or Penny fresh off IR.

 
Seahawks designated RB Rashaad Penny (calf) to return from injured reserve.

Penny said he's "revved up" and "excited" to return Monday night, assuming he's officially activated from injured reserve prior to kick-off. The 25-year-old has not handled double-digit touches since December 2, 2019 but could be leaned on more than expected if Alex Collins can't turn around against New Orleans. DeeJay Dallas is also FLEXworthy if Collins is ruled out.

Seahawks activated Rashaad Penny (calf) from injured reserve.

Alex Collins (groin) is expected to play versus the Saints so it's likely that Penny makes his 2021 debut in a limited role. Still, for a player who is rarely healthy, getting back on the field is a step in the right direction. Penny will likely operate as the change-of-pace option. He's worth stashing in most leagues, particularly ones that allow managers to cut players who have already played.

Rashaad Penny rushed six times for nine yards in the Seahawks' Week 7 loss to the Saints.

Making his first appearance since Week 1 after a stint on I.R. with a calf issue, Penny actually out-snapped Alex Collins in the first half, but it was mostly all Collins after the break. Collins out-carried Penny 16-6 and saw one target to Penny's zero. It's hard to see Penny making much of an impact next week against the Jaguars.

As quickly as he was added to my roster, he's gonna be dropped. I have too many other needs that supersede pieces of the Seattle run game.

While I won, wish I had listened to you and started Herbet. I could use as many points as I can get to go with a W.

 
In comparison to Collins and Carson, he would need to be the last man standing to get more work I think but it's not impossible he could find himself in exactly that situation at some point this year. He's on the end of my bench until I can't leave him there.

 
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Rashaad Penny should have a larger role in Week 11 against the Cardinals.

"I'm really looking forward to Rashaad, looking to see where he goes and contributes this week," Carroll said. "He's got a good role for us and we're anxious to see him get going. It's really his time to help us. As we go through the next couple of weeks, you'll see him continue to be a big part of it." Penny (1.6 YPC) struggled in two games since returning from a calf injury and didn't see the field last week. With Chris Carson out for the year and only Alex Collins in front of him, there should be opportunities for Penny going forward, though he's not a Week 11 fantasy option. Penny, Travis Homer, and DeeJay Dallas could all see snaps behind Collins this week.

I may start him.

Desperate for a W.  

I lose I'm out of it.  Might be worth the gamble the guys has a great game.  My other options are: Ingram, Gibson, AD.  Started Stevenson of the same premise Thursday night so can only choose one.  I'm screwed ha ha...

I have owned and hoped for Penny to do something for years, are you really going to start Penny over Ingram?? I beg you, that is not a move that you will feel good about.

You are probably right.  I have in my head like two years ago, Penny had a run of games that were great and hoping for that repeat.  Probably don't have the balls to start him over Ingram but I think a couple of OL are out for NO as well so that may be impactful. I'm fu%#$ed either way ha ha.
