RB Zach Charbonnet, SEA (2 Viewers)

The silence from MacDonald on his injury is curious. He mentioned KW and Geno but conveniently forgot to say Charbonet had an oblique injury. Does that mean it's nothing or are they trying to play coy for game day. Today will tell us a lot of the practices or not.

From Seattletimes:

Charbonnet joins Walker on DNP list

While the news about Smith was good, the news about the running back spot was more concerning.

Kenneth Walker III, who has missed the last two games with a calf injury, was again a nonparticipant.

In what was a new development, he was joined on the sidelines by his replacement the last two games, Zach Charbonnet, who was listed as out with an oblique injury.

That Charbonnet had an injury was not known when Macdonald met the media, so he was not asked about it and it’s unclear if Charbonnet’s injury is one that could impact his status for Sunday’s game.

Macdonald noted that Walker took part in walk-through and that the team hopes he will be able to practice some this week.

“We’re optimistic,” Macdonald said. “We’ll see about how many reps today, but (he) did walk-through, probably ramp it up a little bit more tomorrow.”

Walker being able to return takes on added importance if Charbonnet is limited.

Charbonnet led the Seahawks with 54 yards on eight carries against the Packers, including a TD run of 24 in the fourth quarter.

Yes, was trying to relay this in another thread last night as to why Macdonald did not mention him. He just was not offering up injury info if he was not asked.

I'm sure we will all find out more details today, much later today as Seattle typically has a super late injury report relative to most of the league which you probably know.

But I was trying to find more info last night before waivers so went back to watch the end of the game to see if I could see anything because for all I know this might just be super minor to the point of bordering on maintenance, or not. Total unknown.

His last play was the Sam Howell interception with a little over 5 minutes left I believe. He went airborne, fully extended and made a lunging attempt at the tackle, mainly grabbed air and crashed to the ground. It's the kind of play that I could envision someone suffering an oblique injury but I saw no signs from Charb's that he was hurt or injured. When they got the ball back they went with McIntosh, which I recall being very disappointed to see and assumed at the time was just game script, use the passing down back and not get Charbs beat up anymore in a game that was essentially over. Maybe that's the case but now I'm not so sure if that's why he did not re-enter the game.

The fantasy gods can be cruel. You hold and hold this guy, taking up a roster spot, because he’s such a high end handcuff. And when you get to use him when it matters most, he and the entire Seahawks offense craps the bed. At least he helped me win my quarterfinal match a few weeks ago.

Shirt point…

Sadly the ship on trading KW has long sailed. This group of rookies and a deep FA class renders him worthless.

I am curious to see how things shake out with touch split this year. Charbs to me is consistent and deserves more touches. I don't hate KW but maybe he would be better in a more limited role?

What are the odds that Charbs overtakes Walker?

Walker seems firmly rooted ahead of Charbs on draft rankings. RB16 on the FBG SF TE+ dynasty rankings I use.

We are not doing this again.

Walker is far and away the better RB when healthy. Now health is a concern with Walker. That I understand.

Yep. Walker is a top-10 NFL RB, who needs to stay healthy. Charbonnet is never overtaking him.

I disagree. That 4.2 career average, 3.7 last year, and constantly dinged, leaves a lot to be desired. He’s the most overrated player in fantasy IMO.

Seems like with KW, his injuries stem from his almost reckless running style. So if that doesn't change, I see no reason to get super excited because he will probably just keep getting hurt. You'd think at some point, a trainer or coach would see this and work on his running style.

My league's benches are too short to spend one on a handcuff so I will most likely be avoiding.

If healthy Walker is going to have a huge contract year season. Not worried about Charb’s in the least bit.
I’m not convinced the contract season thing matters in terms of production. It’s not like he can just flip a switch and destroy the league. Avoiding serious injury is his biggest concern.

He’s probably content to just have another decent year, stay healthy, and sign a good contract as opposed to doing something differently this year trying to get a slightly bigger contract and getting hurt in the process.

In fact, given that virtually every team is an RBBC now, he’d probably welcome a split with Charbonnet if it keeps him healthy. Then he’ll get a new contract to be part of a committee elsewhere.

Listen to this and tell me what you think?

It seems like Walker IS the ugh bell cow.
We all do it, but it’s so funny how we hear what we want to hear. How do you get “Walker is the bell cow” from that clip? (I’m a Walker owner too btw)

The coach was asked about Walker, said a few nice things, then referred to getting the ball into THEIR hands, getting THEM involved, getting the ball to their best runnerS. Then went out of his way to mention that other runners compliment Walker well, “especially Charbonnet.”

And he’s right. Walker may be better at some, or many things, but the coach clearly likes and has a plan for Charbonnet as well, or he wouldn’t have felt compelled to mention him specifically. If anything, that clip infers Walker will not have a bell cow role.

Maybe I misheard what the coach was saying. I heard a lot of praise for Walker and zero about Charbs.

I’m actually a Charbs owner…how did you get that I’m a Walker owner?

I guess we all misinterpret things from time to time.

I did assume you were a Walker owner, my mistake. I should’ve read your whole exchange before quoting.

I don’t think anyone really expected Charb to overtake Walker altogether. But from that clip, and from what we saw from Charb last year, I think he’ll be fantasy-relevant in 2025.

You did not mishear anything.

When the coach goes on and on about Walker and then mentions other RB's who compliment him, where he did say "espcially Charbonnett" that's crystal clear to me who the primary RB and secondary RB on the team is.

I'd probably not have phrased it as "bell cow" but that's subjective.

The coach was asked specifically about Walker, so he said a few nice things about him first. I wouldn’t say he went on and on. He actually shifted the answer to RBs in plural form (them, they, runners) relatively quickly, before specifically mentioning Charbonnet.

I agree that Walker is the lead RB. Everyone agrees on that. The question is how big of a “complimentary” role will Charb have? A 60/40 split could be considered complimentary. I don’t think that clip clarifies anything at all is all I’m saying.
