Watched Ender's Game again just because. Purposely told myself to just forget the book and enjoy it for what it is - which was easier without my son sitting there going, that's wrong, they missed that what just happened.
Anyway... my review is this. It's a really good movie. Probably better than it was treated. And here is why - the main actors except for Harrison Ford being all angry white guy in the military are all mostly kids. And they did well. They weren't asked to do much, but they did it and did it well. It could have come off as a Disney channel type of movie with their acting and it didn't. The effects were solid. They did about as good as you could do with the battle room (man I wish they did more there - see, I can't completely get the book out of my head) and the graphics of Ender dealing with the main battle chamber were fantastic. Felt real enough.
But my favorite part was the end. They nailed the end. Perfectly actually. Not the battle end, but the Speaker for the Dead end. I commend hollywood for not just killing a book completely and actually allowing some of the soul of the book to be seen in the movie.
I wish I saw it in the theater.
