$2.485 M is not much for a QB in a year without a salary cap. I think several teams should be interested. If he sucks, simply cut him prior to 2011.

For how many teams would he be first string? Any? Probably not at this point, since even if he went to Cleveland or Buffalo, he won't know the offense.For how many teams would he be second string? Probably not that many at this point, for the same reason. How much do second string QBs typically make?For how many teams would he be third string? How much do third string QBs typically make?And I'm pretty sure practice squad players don't make that much...

I agree with you that given the correct situation right out of college and the right coaching, he might have made it as a serviceable NFL QB (if that's what you are saying). A lot of the things he doesn't have maybe could have been coached into him.

It's not like Arizona has been the Detroit Lions or the Cleveland Browns the past 4 years. Leinart's "situation" was better than what most NFL QBs have been given, and yet he was never able to do anything with it. Joey Harrington and David Carr would have killed to get Leinart's opportunity.

I agree. I am not a Leinart fan at all. I am just saying that I could envision a scenario where he was as serviceable NFL QB given a different situation.

Tampa and Oakland both have injuries which could create an opening if things progressed badly for them. Seattle might want to groom him behind Hasselbeck and give him a shot to beat out Whitehurst. Cleveland might give him a shot. Minnesota might take a shot on him for post-Favre. The Bills might take a shot on him to give Evans an aneurysm. There are a few teams that would take him on as a backup, and he could potentially start for several of them depending how things fall. It seems like every year there are multiple suitors for Leftwich, and Bruce Gradkowski has started games for multiple teams, so Leinart could be able to find some work.

Leinart is talking himself out of whatever shred of hope he was hanging on to, for starting. He'd have done well just to keep his mouth shut and continuing to let his play (110 passer rating and 82% completion) do the talking. Telling the media that it must be "personal" (which is probably true) isn't helping his cause.

Anderson being given the start again this Thursday speaks pretty loud. Mike Lombardi also had some interesting things to say on NFLN tonight that he hearing Leinart does not have the respect from the team, and mentioned Fitz may be one of them that doesn't believe in Leinart as a leader.

I don't think the Cardinals will cut Leinart, for 3 reasons:

1. if Anderson stinks up the joint (and there is a very real possibility of that happening) or gets injured, then Leinart would represent the only other QB on the roster who has actually PLAYED in an NFL game. There's no way the Cardinals would risk ending up with only 2 rookie QBs on the roster.

2. if they fail to get any preseason trade offers for Leinart, then the only hope of trading him would be to showcase him in a few games.

3. despite Leinart's bad attitude, he's actually posted the best numbers of all the Arizona QBs this preseason.

Really, this whole thing sounds like a ploy to......motivate Leinart.

I could see it as a ploy to motivate Leinart bit unfortunately nothing can motivate that guy. He seems happy to go through the rest of his life as an ex USC star. I fear he's peaked.

It is true Hucks. Overall, considering where he came from and the expectations he brought with him he has stunk up the joint. I can find individual games that Scott Mitchell was decent too but overall, Scott Mitchell was a bum. People don't want to see 2 or 3 games of mediocre stats and one good one from Leinart. Overall he's a bust and he's played and acted like a bum in Arizona. That's the truth and most people have seen it for quite awhile frankly.

Not sure I understand all this "it's only preseason" talk. Bottom line.....and we all know it......Leinart stinks. And it's not like he's a rookie--he's stunk it up in the regular season as well. You simply can't hide that weak arm at this level. Nor can u hide the fact that his teammates are not buying in. No way leinart holds on to the starting job all year. No way.

Yeah, if I had to make a decision on him based on this preseason (not that I'm saying that's a good idea), I like him a lot. Really seems QB is much more about your leadership skills and decision making than your physical attributes. Obviously if you have both you get a Peyton Manning, but Hall could really be a solid QB.
