Win.Adrian in a coma ruined it for me.Rocky II is the best one.
WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR!?!?!?
Not to mention...when she comes out of the locker room, with almost a sense of "I wonder how hes doing" cut to him rolling around on the floor, beaten badly, her turning away. That's a great edit and sequence of shots. Rocky 1 is top notch. At the end of Rocky, Adrian and Rocky embrace in the ring with the great music playing and the crowd cheering and her "I love you" and his "I love you, too" provides an emotional wallop.Rocky II is the best one.
In Rocky II, she says "I love you" to the TV. That's a big reason that it's easily the worst of 1-4.
Meh…..it was ok. I actually prefer the original cut. It perfectly captured exactly what it was like in 1985.Side note: for those that are fans of the franchise, it's worth the 93 minutes of your time to check out Rocky IV - The Director's Cut. No robot, more Apollo story, more Drago. Less MTV music video and more movie. It's a better overall movie than the original version, but much like @Uruk-Hai separation rankings, if I'm drunk and wanting to be entertained, give me the original with robots, warts and all.
You don’t redo the sistine chapel with different scenes. You don’t shorten Leonardo da Vinci’s David because it’s too tall. And you don’t mess with Rocky IV. Ever.Meh…..it was ok. I think you're underselling the moment in II when you don't mention, "Except for my kid being born, this is the greatest night in the history of my life!"At the end of Rocky, Adrian and Rocky embrace in the ring with the great music playing and the crowd cheering and her "I love you" and his "I love you, too" provides an emotional wallop.Rocky II is the best one.

Surely you jest. I present to you the greatest scene in historyYou guys hung up on Adrian are focusing on the wrong thing. There's not another scene in any Rocky movie that rivals the scene between Stalone and Meredith in the church in Rocky II. That's not even open for debate!
Mickey did make Rocky II a classic….no doubt. Burgess nailed it.At the end of Rocky, Adrian and Rocky embrace in the ring with the great music playing and the crowd cheering and her "I love you" and his "I love you, too" provides an emotional wallop.Rocky II is the best one.

Burgess. Meredith.
Rocky II was the best one because Burgess Meredith nailed his role and made the movie. The franchise should get on its hands and knees and thank the movie gods for gifting them a performance like his in Rocky II.

My 10yr old self (age I was when it came out and who I am whenever watching it) cares nothing about your “acting”.Surely you jest. For flash and entertainment, okay, yes....this is on the podium for a medal. You want a clinic on acting, Rocky II.

FYP - Seems quotation marks should be required. The first time I "saw" rocky IV was my first full make out session in a movie theater. Good times

When he went to Russia to fight Drago, Paulie signed over power of attorney to someone who then stole their money. Something like that......So in Rocky IV they’re rich. In Rocky V he’s poor. Do they explain in V where his money went?
I thought it was great, too. Jonathan Majors owns this movie.Creed III is great. Definitely the best of the Creeds so far. Dame reminds me of Clubber Lang in some ways. Not quite as cartoonish, but nearly as entertaining and possibly more intimidating.
My babysitter way back when was in Rocky V (she was the son's girlfriend, Jewel) and, IIRC*, the explanation was that Rocky blew the money on stupid stuff - like that robot - and wound up broke like a lot of professional athletes do/did as they didn't plan for retirement at such an early age. Also, something about bad investments. So in Rocky IV they’re rich. In Rocky V he’s poor. Do they explain in V where his money went?
I had watched IV the other day and left the tv on. Came back, V was on, and it was so bad I couldn’t watch it, but I do want to know how he lost all his cash.
It may be my generation. The Rocky IV soundtrack was HUGE back in the day and like all my coaches were playing it during practices, before games, etc. It's also really tough to beat that Rocky IV training montage in the cold and wilderness plus he's fighting for his friend against Russia so, for us children, that was an easier story to connect with. As such, growing up, Rocky IV was always my favorite.I would have never guessed that anyone outside of devout James Brown fans would rank Rocky IV ahead of Rocky III, but there appears to be a BUNCH of you. Madness, I say.
The bold and I'm not sure why it would even be a debate.Started my twins on the Rocky franchise last week. First up was Rocky III and it hit all the right notes for us. I hadn't seen it in years; forgot that Mick kind of screwed Rocky over by lining up tomato can opponents after he won the belt. Mr. T was such a good villain. I know he's a little cartoonish, but man, he was a bad mofo in that.
Then we went to Rocky IV which is always going to hold a special place in my heart but my god is it cheesy. And like 20 minutes of it is just clips of other Rocky movies. But, another home run and now I'm a little torn. Do we go with Rocky or Rocky II?
Why would you not run them in order? This is liable to be pretty jarring for them.Started my twins on the Rocky franchise last week. First up was Rocky III and it hit all the right notes for us. Really? Why?3) I turned off Creed 3 with a half hour left. Hated every bit of it.

Hmmm I have several kids right around that same age. I'd probably just wait until they're 10 or so and show them in order. Maybe your 7 year olds are more mature than mine, but I don't either of my 7 year olds (or my 8 year old) would love any Rocky other than my son probably enjoying the boxing scenes - and then him inevitably trying to re-enact them on his sisters. The bold and I'm not sure why it would even be a debate.Started my twins on the Rocky franchise last week. Because Rocky is like a soap opera. These kids are 7. They want action not a love story.
That's not what I was saying, my friend. I didn't realize they were the younger group, but I'm wondering how the story would make sense. I saw them in order on release, so it's probably a lack of imagination on my part in that they could be watched in any other way until you've seen them all.I dunno, I'm broken I guess.
Damian has been out of prison for a week or so and he's asking Donny to get him a shot at the Heavyweight title? He then wins the title? With no professional experience, I mean, I know other Rockys have pretty far fetched pieces but I feel like when you make these movies today? They need to be rooted in some realism and that stuff just doesn't happen.Really? Why?3) I turned off Creed 3 with a half hour left. Hated every bit of it.
Adonis told him he was out of his mind. Damian didn't want to believe it, plus he was burning with hate after a couple of decades in prison. He's the most believable antagonist in the entire series, IMO. Hell, he's more believable than Rocky or Adonis.Damian has been out of prison for a week or so and he's asking Donny to get him a shot at the Heavyweight title? He then wins the title? For the record, Stallone was not involved in this movie "because the story had been given a direction with which he did not agree". Unsure what that direction was, but it ain't a Rocky without Rocky.Adonis told him he was out of his mind. No offense meant.

I think we'll stick to Toy Story or Moana for action at this time.
I'm well aware that Stallone wasn't involved. Knew it going in, so I didn't expect him to be. I'd say Rocky. Rocky 2 has some really good acting in it, but I think the kids would be surprised to see Rocky lose at the end. (spoiler, sorry)Started my twins on the Rocky franchise last week. How I grew up I guess. Rocky III was first, then Rocky IV and then Rocky II. I didn't see the original until I was an adult. I dunno, I'm broken I guess.
The Bill Conti original soundtrack was one of the best ever. It still holds up well.
