Devil's Advocate
Just wanted to get some last-minute opinions on these two after finally seeing Walker in some significant action last night. I keep going back and forth as to which WR I'd rather have. It might be entirely possible to grab both of them. I don't typically endorse having two WRs from the same team, but I might make an exception here. Denver's schedule in the fantasy playoffs are pretty sweet, too.

I normally wouldn't grab 2 WR from the same team...maybe if they were a big passing team. Denver seems to be a bit more of a running team. However, based on their projections, they may not be a bad WR2 and WR3 combo depending on where you get them.

The appeal of it is that every time Plummer goes back to pass, there is a pretty damn good chance you are about to get some receiving points, unless, of course, Jake overthrows his WR by 50 yards. The other possible downside is that both receivers might sit if you have a week 17 title game and Denver has a playoff seed which is set in stone.

Last year at this time Lelie would have beat Smith easily in all three categories.
:unsure:I can't speak for anyone else, but I certainly would have voted that Smith would end up with more fantasy points than Lelie entering '05. Lelie needs to see the wizard to get a heart. Smith already has one.

I voted Walker all 3 times.

Some additional points:

*I do not think the point difference between the two will be that great.

*I think both WRs will outperform their current draft position, and Smith will probably represent better value.

*Walker has a much higher upside, and a slightly lower downside.

*I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever predicted a Denver WR would outscore Rod Smith. Take that for what it's worth.

Do you have any hesitation whatsoever drafting Walker, from a health standpoint?

From a health standpoint, none whatsoever. I have not heard even one whisper of one breath of one inkling of one iota of concern from ANYONE covering Walker this offseason as to whether or not he's fully healthy. According to all reports I've heard from him, he isn't showing the slightest little bit of lingering effects from the injury. And if he IS slowed by injury, then I shudder to think of what he could do when healthy, because by all reports he has been an S.T.U.D. stud.If Denver was still tentatively targetting the season opener like they originally were, I might be concerned, but they got him back on the field by week 2 of the preseason, and every single route he ran this week was OVER THE MIDDLE. Denver's obviously not worried about his health, so why should I be?It's always possible that he reinjures or inflames something or triggers something, but I really don't expect any of that at all. All of my tempered expectations are a result more of wondering whether he can chip into that rapport that Plummer has with Reliable Rod. I expect Smith to get more catches this season, but I think Walker's big-play potential means he finishes with more points.
