Rumblings of Kevan Barlow to Denver (1 Viewer)

I didn't take this E-mail to necessarily be a RB. Maybe he was refering to T.O. as "Bigger Targets".
I hope so, because from where I'm sitting, it would be pretty dumb to ante up for a big-name RB and pay him big money when your strategy for THREE YEARS now has been to let RBs go as soon as they're no longer bargain-basement. Then again, Shanahan is a heck of a lot smarter than I am.
I know people are down on Lewis but I think in the Denver offense, Lewis will be a top 5 back and will make people forget about his lackluster season last year. I would make Jamal a lock for 1500 yards and double digit TD, just my opinion.

I know I am in the minority here but I think the Broncos should head into the season with Bell and Dayne. I am a big fan of Dayne and I was hoping the Cowboys would grab him last year. I think Dayne was misused in every sense of the word while he was in NY. He isn't a 3rd down/change of pace guy, he is a 25-30 carries a game guy. He will always lose yards or get 2 yards on a lot of his carries but he will also throw down 10-25 yard gains by powering over people. I know a lot of people will probably argue with me on this, but it is just my opinion. I think Dayne could be a really solid back if he were given the starting role and Tater Tot Bell is the perfect compliment to him.
First, Jamal Lewis. I agree that he could be a top-10 RB in Denver... *BUT*, I believe Denver will have a top-10 RB no matter what, and Lewis would cost 3-5 times as much as a no-name, under the radar type. I mean, Lewis got outperformed in every way imagineable by Chester Taylor last season, and yet he's still probably going to cost more. I don't want to see my team spend big money on players on the downsides of their career when a better, cheaper, younger player would suffice. I think JamLew would succeed... but I also think he'd be a huge waste of cap space.Second, Ron Dayne. I'm going to repeat everything I said last offseason. First, Denver's front office isn't hard to read, and it doesn't play games. If someone is at the top of the depth chart, it's because the Front Office thinks they're the best player for the job. If someone is down the depth chart, it's because the Front Office thinks they're just depth. And right now, everything suggests to me that Ron Dayne is the guy the want at the top of the depth charts. They let go their leading rusher and make a mad dash to resign their #3 guy... this, to me, suggests that they like their #3 guy a lot. Finally, put aside all personal feelings you may have towards Ron Dayne, forget how many times you may have been burned by him, or how much you think he might suck... Denver's starting RB = Stud. If Dayne is Denver's starting RB, Dayne is a stud, and shall remain one for as long as he continues to be Denver's starting RB. Even if you think he sucks... does he suck as much as Droughns, who had 40 carries for 97 yards (2.43 per) before becoming Denver's starting RB and rushing for 1200 yards in 12 games? Does he suck as much as Olandis Gary, who couldn't beat out Shawn Bryson for the starting job on a 5-11 Detroit team? Just something to consider.

I called my source from within the SF organization this morning, he says Barlow and his agent were at the complex late into the night. The situation certainly gives the impression that they're in the midst of a trade and perhaps renegotiating the terms of Barlow's contract with the new team.

Unless Adam Schefter is sitting at the SF complex today as my friend is, then I'd say he doesn't know what he's talking about above watching ESPN news.
Adam Schefter > Yao Ming
Agreed. Schefter has better connections in Denver than Ming has in San Francisco. Ming might be right that Barlow is in dealing with management. Then again, you could tell me that Tom Brady was in with New England management all night, and I wouldn't take that as proof positive that they were about to trade him to Denver.I'm not really ruling out the possibility of a Barlow/Denver trade... I'm just saying I don't really expect it, and sticking up for Schefter.

So, does that mean you are agreeing with me? I made the point that I am a big fan of Dayne......not sure where you were going with the put your personal feelings aside part...

he was just saying that even if you (meaning anyone) believes that dayne sucks - no problem, but if dayne is the starting RB for the denver broncos...he no longer sucksbtw - how long until the first article proclaiming ron dayne is in the best shape of his career?
