Schefter on Twitter: Favre would listen if the Bears called (1 Viewer)

Why would the Bears need Favre? Hanie's doing a great job of tossing game-ending picks.
Hanie is terrible but Roy Williams is the reason that ball was intercepted. Favre wouldn't work because there's still a chance Cutler is coming back. Would Favre be ok with holding a clipboard for the playoffs if Cutler came back? I doubt it.

Favre probably sees this Packer season as trumping his legacy and would be motivated to end the Packer's undefeated season. He could stick it to the GM, coach and Rodgers in the last game he ever plays.

I think the GM, Coach, and Rodgers proved their point last season and continue to prove it now.Not sure how a regular season game would really take any of that away at this point.

You don't think Favre coming out of retirement to don a Bears helmet and knocking an undefeated Packers team from 14 - 0 to 14 - 1 on the Frozen Tundra would prove a point? There would be a month of continuous and over the top coverage that would cause NFL fans everywhere to vomit. Extrapolating that even further, assume Favre not only wins the regular season meeting, but then proceeds to take the Bears to Lambeau in the playoffs and knocks off the Packers on his way to leading the Bears to an NFL championship? It won't happen of course, but I can't help but think that would take the shine off a little bit.

so you don't think Favre would love to keep Rodgers, GM and coach from an undefeated regular season and then play them and knock them out in the playoffs? It would keep Rodgers from going to the same number of superbowls Favre did.Favre sees he might just need to win two games as a Bear and one of them against the people he hates.

Actually thinking about this a bit more, between Forte being out, the O-line, and Martz, I think there is a decent chance Favre could become permanently disabled if he suited up for the Bears.

we wrote the exact same thing at the same time. Favre would be super motivated to do this.

I think it would prove the point that he won a game in December that was next to meaningless for the Packers. One game in December does not erase the vision of McCarthy, Thompson, and Rodgers holding the Lombardi last year (which was their point when they had a part in the mess that became of the Favre situation).Sure...Im sure he would enjoy it...but they have already proven their point on why they moved on.

I honestly don't think Favre cares about that as much as fans want to think he does right now.If his motivation is just to try and stick it to the Packers at this point...he really needs to examine his priorities. I think he is past that attitude at this point.

IF this did happen, I don't think the Packers would ever retire #4.

As a Bears Fan I would rather have Hanie the rest of the year than see Favre in a Bears uniform. Can't wait til Martz is gone after the season.

Farve would listen if anyone called.

Guys Favre already "stuck it to" the Packers in 2009 when he swept them and won the division. Merely splitting those games would have been enough for the Packers to take the division and secure a first-round bye, which could have led to a very different ending to the 2009 NFC playoffs. As Sho said I'm pretty sure Favre has moved on at this point.

He sends pictures of his unit to that NYJ eye candy and you feel he is too evolved to have revenge on his mind.So he is sitting in buttville arkansas reading philosophy and discovering his inner self? The dude is bored and still pissed that GB said he was no longer good enough to start.

Would you go to company picnics for the boss who fired you? Same thing in Favre's mind. He feels he got a raw deal and will not forget.

Hey...what he does in his crocs is his own business.Arkansas now?He is still pissed?Meh...maybe. Probably more pissed at himself for throwing that pass against New Orleans or even coming back last year and getting beat up.

Scott Favre? Is that you?Look...the boss is Ted Thompson...while Favre may still not like the guy...eventually TT will be gone...Favre will be asked back, and he will do it. Why? $$$$ and to have the fans again chanting and cheering for him.

I think the only reason this would ever happen is because Martz has basically one foot out the door. It's his last chance as the Bears OC and I doubt he wants to go down with Hanie making a mockery of his offense. There's a reason why Hanie was behind Todd Collins last year. He's a complete idiot who has no grasp of this offense whatsoever. Favre could run this offense better in 5 days than Hanie has with 3 years of practice. I'm sure Martz is on his knees whimpering, "Anybody but Hahnie! Anybody! When I say anybody, I mean anybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!".

I don't see the Bears winning another game the rest of the year with Hanie. At least with Favre we might be able to get one win and it would be good sideshow entertainment for the last month.

Mississippi - whatever. Was probably thinking of John Daly.If this were to happen, it would be must watch TV.Maybe the Bears could make Chilly an honorary Honey Bear to motivate him.

I see your rationale. But what I don't think you're giving enough thought to is that even if Favre came back, the Packers would kill them. And you don't think the entire Packers' organization wouldn't like to stick it right back to Bret much like you suggest Favre would to the Packers - especially Rodgers? I'd actually like to see it just to see Favre get his ### handed to him.

I'll be the first to say, i think this is a good idea. You are in the playoff hunt and you honestly think you are in OK shape with the crap factory known as Hanie. Personally, I would bring in Favre AND Garcia, cut that clown they are touting as a developmental project (think the kid is from Illinois), and let them battle it out. This team screams WIN NOW in its makeup and you are goofing around with Hanie!?!?! I am from NJ (live in NC), but am a NY sports fan....obnoxious as they are, if Sanchez or Manning went down the fans would dictate the right move...honestly, what do the Bears have to lose? Hurting Caleb's confidence???? I am guessing that happens every time the poor kid trots onto the field...

Those last few where he goes through the names to his...little QB...are gold.

Hattiesburg Mississipi, Buttville Arkansas, whatever.

I love how this is framed -- like if the Bears call him and beg really hard, then he would do them the enormous favor of listening to them.

Give me a break. Nobody wants this guy on their team, especially not for a two or three-game stretch in frigid weather vs. top defenses. Favre has shown that kind of environment is not kind to his old bones any more.

They said Favre has been working on a new pass in his arsenal with the High school kids. The Back shoulder come back. Says he can throw it better than 12 and when he was a young teen in Mississippi, he could throw a football over them there mountains.

what if favre came back and was paralized from just about the waste down then he would not be able to send weener pictures to hoochies and cheat on the lovely deanna while she recovers from breast cancer he is a total piece of two faced garbage and if teh bears take him then i lose all respect for the bears i dont like them but they are at least worthy adversaries and always play the packers tough the right way but if they did this then i would wonder about there integrity and be severely disappointed and i would have to call who you crappin more than gary from evanston

Favre: 'If Manning comes back this year, I will too. That ******* isn't getting any of my records.'

Two years ago, the thought of Favre in a Bears uniform would have made most Packers fans' heads explode (as if him in a Vikings jersey wasn't bad enough for them).

Now, the thought it just funny and sad.

my brother i dont hate him i just really dislike him and sincerely i hope that he gives up football and tries to find God and settle his mortal debts because he has been very bad to people around him that he took oaths to namely the lovely deanna who he ran around on john edwards ii style while she was recovering from breast cancer and that is not a joke so maybe if he finds his soul and gets right with the big kahuna from down under i mean heaven of course he will be ok but i dont hate him to summarize take that to the bank my brother

Favre ends the ''perfect season'' in the NFC Championship game and wins the Super Bowl with da Bears!

So we are going with scenario that has zero chance of happening now?Umm...ok.
