Shooting At Aurora, Colorado Movie Theater (1 Viewer)

The similarity between his name, Jamie Rohr, and mine, Rohn Jambo, is purely ooincidental.
And this guy made the rounds to every major news network and told the same story and cried as he told it each time. I wanted to smack him in the face then and now to read this,I really want to punch him in the face. What a tool...
I saw him interviewed last night and could not believe what I was watching. And he is actually selling his story, complete jackass.

Its gets better though. Jarell Brooks saves woman and children.

I would have thought the emergency exit doors to an individual theater would have some sort of sensor to alert staff in case someone is letting all their friends in. Not saying it would make a difference just figured the theaters would have this.

I saw this guy on one show and just wanted to punch him in the face after 3 seconds. I didn't know this part; even bigger doosh.
What a tool, plus he took a baby and 4 year old to a midnight movie double doosh

Wow, Brooks is a hero. Nice to read something positive coming out of this mess. Rohr sucks at life, however.

I thought so to. But last night they interviewed 2 separate GM's at theaters and they said most are not alarmed as it is an extra expense which they never thought was needed.Guessing after this that will change.

Not so sure it would have changed the outcome much.

This is ridiculous...I've seen it stated like 20 times in this thread. Have none of you people ever been to a damn theater? It's just normal exit doors...near the screen...on either side. They're not alarmed...they're just there to help get the flow of people out...and yes, they can be used as an emergency exit but they're not alarmed because people use them every single showing.Damn.

I wonder if the gunman had planned to shoot people at the theater or only after seeing the Gangster Squad trailer before the Batman movie.

I know this is screwed up but I really hope we find out that this psycho was a regular church goers on Sunday because I am getting sick and tired of hearing people blame the lack of god and Christianity in america for this massacre. I mean it only took 2 days and already the gays and our "acceptance" have been blamed for it

I don't even think most Christians listen to the folks who blame mass shootings on the gays or a religious drift in this country.

What are you talking about? If the people responsible for getting a rise out of you are the extremists or the minority opinion than why give them any dignity? I haven't heard anyone blame this on anything yet. I did see AMC do the typical overreaction and ban all Batman costumes to their movie theaters over the weekend. Chalk another one up for the terrorist.

I called these people ignorant and selfish on page 1, sorry to see he proved me right in such a terrible way. What a loser. I'm not sure who's worse though, him for bailing on his kids under attack, or the chick that agreed to marry him.

I was told that if I want to learn about God I should start with this. How is a "mass shooting" different from tsunamis and 9/11.Oh, I would hope to believe that you are correct, but my inbox from a decade ago makes it difficult to believe. Again, I hope you are correct.
You know I'm a Christian, an evangelical even. I routinely cringe at the loudest voices from my faith and their proclamations about things like this. But I feel, similarly with most groups (political, religious, racial etc) that the loudest and most sentionational voices are often on the fringe when compared to the masses from the same group.

Yeah I deleted that post because I really want you to be right and me wrong. I'm hoping that times have changed and I'm living in the past.

How do you feel about the libs who blame this on the Tea Party or a lack of good old fashioned gun laws?

Well gun laws I can see. The Tea Party would be just as stupid since there is absolutely no proof that he was a member of any political group. Hell there is no proof that he did anything but study medicine and buy weapons

ABC said he was a member of the Tea Party.

Not saying any type of alarm would make a difference and when I say alarm and mean only one that goes to theater security not something everyone in the theater can hear. It is rare for anyone in the theaters I go to use the exits besides the screen. I've never been to a matinee and people are leaving through those exits letting all the light in as I wait for some lame skit at the end of a Marvel movie. Doesn't happen. At $10-15 a ticket is it so hard to imagine that it might be somewhat smart to keep an eye on the exits so people aren't sneaking in? It's not technology you see on Modern Marvels. Just a damm sensor that if it goes off anytime other then the end of the movie signifies someone trying to sneak in. Again, not saying it would have helped at all with the massacre just saying if it's my theater I'm watching those exits. Just simple technology. Christ sake the menus at the concessions at my theater are on plasma's that are advertising to me on line. Most theaters are so cheap they don't have mirrors in the bathroom but people can sneak in with such ease? It's just odd.

I have never seen those doors alarmed or monitored in any theater I've been to...and most around me have like 15+ screens. It's just not going to happen and it's foolish to even request or expect it.I use those doors often...they lead right to the parking lot and I don't have to do the two step shuffle with everyone else in order to get back to the crowded lobby to exit out front. I don't understand why more people don't use them. But usually I'm the first and then there's a river of people behind me...like they needed someone to show them it's not alarmed or something.

Maybe the guy just didn't like previews?

Warner Bros. pulled the trailer for the film "Gangster Squad," which had been running before showings of "The Dark Knight Rises." That film trailer features scenes of men armed with machine guns attacking a movie theater. A representative for the company told CNN that Warner Bros. did not plan to cancel any screenings.

They arent just emergency doors but other exits. You are allowed touse them to leave the theater.

A doctor and author on CBS news last night say that he thought this guy WASN'T insane.

Dr. Wendelman or something....

I have an AR-15 and many other weapons. The cheapest .223 shells you can buy are Russian at around $1 a pop and they are widely know to dirty up your AR and to jam constantly. Quality ammo is much more expensive, but also very reliable in a clean, lubed AR-15. It is logical that James Holmes used Russian shells.

According to reports, James Holmes recently purchased all of his weapons. He was a newbie when it came to weapons and the sales clerks remember him asking a lot of questions. He would have practiced at a range or out in the middle of nowhere to prepare. It is likely that he did not clean and lube his AR after his practice rounds, which led to a dirty chamber and jam during the massacre. I believe that this saved many peoples lives.

I also believe that Holmes had no intention of living. When his AR jammed, he grabbed his glock handguns. If he had an empty shotgun, a jammed AR, and empty clips for the glocks, then he had nothing to protect himself with when he exited the theater to go back to his car, where he was met by police. Easy arrest.

Good insight. It was mentioned by the Aurora police chief they believed that the AR-15 jammed.

Good post, though I'm not convinced of the bolded.

The other option is to spend the rest of his life in prison. I think he wanted to reload in his vehicle and go down in a blaze of glory. He was surprised to be met at gunpoint when he exited to his car.

I have no idea what he thought his options were.

Snogger, I assume the vast majority of us here understand what you're saying. He almost certainly has mental issues, but is likely not out of touch with reality or unable to understand his actions. The Christos and Timmy's will pick apart every little thing someone says; don't get why.
This doesn't apply to me. I made it clear earlier my opinion: of course he's crazy, and of course that should not protect him. Anyone who pulls this sort of #### has to be crazy, IMO. But also guilty of a horrific crime, deserving of the worst punishment our judicial system can impose.

I really want to know the exchange that led to him spilling the beans about the rigged apartment. He must have really had a brain cramp when all that went down, and thank Jeebus for it.

Seems to think he's some comic book villain. Nutty. Maybe he was happy to surrender and revel in his evil glory. Either way, he was set up to do some serious damage.. obviously my heart goes out to those who died and lost loved ones, but I think we're lucky a lot more didn't die.

Good rundown on the jammage there..

Also.. turns out some people who go to midnight premieres of Batman are a little trashy.. shocker.. doesn't lessen the tragedy.

Can't remember the last time I went to a sold out movie without small children somewhere in the crowd. Probably never have. Ain't that America

Yes we are. According to one of his neighbors, she did go and pound on his door mad about the loud music but didn't call the police about it.

Probably not as trashy as this post.

I'm not trying to be trashy. I've seen a lot of outrage about small children being in the theater, not just in here. I think it's misplaced.

OK I meant to say "some" in there, sorry

That's what happens when you restructure a sentence on the fly. Posting 101

Not sure I've ever been in a movie theater with a four month old.
I don't know what sorts of movies you see, but I think it's a lot less frequent in artsy indie-type movies. Just a different crowd. But I agree with Zilla that it is not uncommon in big budget mainstream movies.

it's not crazy, it's disconnected. actually, we need a better word - the psych profession used to call it confabulation (when a person's mental picture overrides sense & sensibility) - because media imagery helps to build the delusion which places the induced over the real and we, most egregiously the DSM (which is now mired in the same dysfunction as the teaching industry), havent caught up. i could do a large treatise on this for y'all, but my short treatises are getting little but  s these days, so it aint worth the trub.

It's a tough thing to call, look at the nut who shot Gabrielle Giffords and all those other people.. he clearly understood the consequences of his actions and decidedly SHOULD be held FULLY accountable. But he's proving to be so crazy that it seems like there's no way he ever goes into a conventional prison situation. He's on forced medication just to keep him from going absolutely bonkers in court.

What can you do with a guy like that? I don't know the answer, it sure seems unfair if they get to live their lives in the relative comfort of a hospital.
