Snowmageddon 2022 (2 Viewers)

We are at 29 inches here. I went out to shovel at 630 and just got back inside. Figure I will go out again around 2. Sheik, any word on how much more this thing is going to dump? Eastern Panhandle of WV.

Ok, pics... really nothing crazy so far except the wind. As you can see, my wife's judgement of 8 inches might be a tad exaggerated, though a good Jewish 6 at least. A lotta blowing though, some places near bare and nothing on table tops, so hard to really gauge.

What can I say. Lotta ##### around El Koya.

Got at least a foot of snow overnight in south central PA. Still snowing hard. Wind howling! Classic Nor'easter!
Where you be? I used to live in Hanover.
:hifive:

Grew up in East York.
My mailing address was actually Glenville, near the lake I've forgotten the name of
Probably Lake Marburg.

Grew up in York, family in Gettysburg and Hanover.

Ever watch the eagle cam from Lake Marburg? They had a couple babies last year that still hang around the lake and they've spruced up the nest for another bunch of eggs this year. There was a second camera put in this year since the eagles messed the one up last year with projectile pooping (really).

Shoveling session #2 about to begin. Looks like about a foot on the driveway, will post pics when done if not dead.
How much snow y'all got in Catonsville, JD?

btw, Terps against a pissed-off MSU at 6:30
Done about 2 1/2 hours later. 1/2 time shoveling 1/2 snow blowing. We've gotten at least 16 inches here so far. I'm feeling pretty spent right now.
About 3/4 of driveway. http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u462/JamesDaulton/f1d009e4-7a39-4c12-b260-32ebbd15ba7c_zpsmcnhafjy.jpg

i lost power last night at 8p and restoration estimate is 11p 1/25. duke energy blows.....it's really time I get a generac. was 25 last night and I estimate the house is around 50 inside.

Went out to do the first wave of shoveling. Waited waaaay too late. Only got about 2/3 done before I succumbed to the wind and snow. Looks like about 15 inches now with drifts up to 4 feet! And it's coming down hard now.

I want to give a huge shoutout/thank you to whoever said to get WD40. I bought some after you suggested it. But when I went out to start shoveling, I forgot to use it. Two scoops later, the entire shovel was covered in snow. Hit it with the WD40 and after that, it was all sliding off with no sticking. Whoever that was, thank you immensely. That saved me so much time and effort.

We got the same estimate on power. Went to the store today and did not see any power trucks out working.

That's my shoveling outfit.

22 inches here now and snowing like hell. Shoveling is useless due to drifting. I've got power, heat, food, booze, and a wife who can't flee. Life is good.

The heavy banding that's going on right now for my area and surrounding areas will last until about 2 to 3 pm. These bands have snowfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour! That's crazy. Usually 1 inch an hour is considered heavy snow. After 3, intensity will start to go down, but keep in mind, snowfall rates will still be around 1 inch an hour from 3 until early evening. This is the heart of the storm. I keep seeing reports of people getting in accidents and it blows my mind why people would be out in this if they didn't have to be. These are life threatening conditions. Don't take this storm lightly.

Just because you don't see any crews doesn't mean they're not working. :confirmationbias:

Here's the mesoscale discussion currently up. This is what the NAM was seeing that the Euro and GFS were not picking up the past couple of days.

People should remember this when you hear someone say "King Euro" and "the NAM sucks." It's not always that black and white.

One of my simplest pleasures in life is when you're out shoveling and you go to take a sip of your Gatorade, and it's filled with ice crystals. Love that.

Foot of snow shoveled in Brooklyn. The falling snow slowed and everybody on the block came out to shovel. By the time I finished my 17 feet of sidewalk and moved to the stoop it picked back up. Now there is an inch where I shoveled. The mayor just said they expect 2" per hour until 9pm and they are considering a full travel ban. Good times.

What do they do off site, just wondering.

Oh, so this is a blizzard?? Crazy out there. My side of the street got the snow drifts, over a foot on my side while jack off buddy across the street had maybe 6 inches. The beginning of my run was covered with 3 inches 2 hours after my start. Not to mention the two foot plow wall at the end of my driveway. I'm done until later. Might not leave until Wednesday. #### it. :lmao:

Can't speak for Duke specically, but I imagine most crews are working 16 on/8 off. Start time could be anywhere from 6-8 am. First would be a safety briefing/storm update, then getting their first assignment. If they're local crews, they'll get up and go. If they're not local - Duke from another region, another utility or contract crews from Pike - they'll need to get together with their bird dog who will lead them to the job site. A storm outage the size of what Duke appeats to have I can almost guarantee you these crews are staging in a parking lot at a hotel or shopping center and not at your local Duke office. The office itself will be a freaking zoo. The staging area may be manned by a storekeeper who will have storm bundles of crossarms, insulators, cutouts to pass out to the crews.

If you look upthread, you'll see the priority given to storm restoration. After hospitals, PDs and FDs, then its by largest number of customers out. If you go to Duke's interactive outage map and zoom to your area, you'll have a rough idea where you are.

Snapped a belt that seems to be a major part of the snow blower's functionality. Doing it the old fashioned way, with a shovel and old fashioneds.

:lmao: that's so tame you goud go whip donuts in a parking lot or drive over some other cars or cool Jeep #### like that
Thanks for the video make some more but yeah we need action . That's Honda Civic level stuff.
Just tried to get out just now, it's a lot wilder out there than it was, but the plows pushed up a couple feet of snow against the end of our driveway. I tried to back out, but really I'd need to dig out some space there, and I'm just not in the mood.

If I had something to get out for? I would do a little digging and roll. But for now I'm guzzling my third mimosa and I'll watch my hot wife make me a chicken parm sandwich on fresh baked bread.

Best day ever.

I shoveled out a piece of the driveway and the front walkway. Backbreaking work. And of course it's already covered up again.

We're over a foot here and it's coming down harder than ever.

i wish we could get some reports from people who are actually in this monster.
West Chester PA:

4 inches at 1AM, driveway done for first time.

Another 8+ inches at 6AM, driveway done #2

Another 6+ inches at 12 noon, driveway being done for the third time by son as I type.

Currently be threatened (by local weatherman) with 3 inches an hour this afternoon for how long? Can't say.

Entertainment source.

WTF else gives me photo worth crap when I've been holed up for months now? There are at least some NYE pics for ya and back a ways, sunsets and ####.

I lead an exciting existence.

My wife just said Pam cooking spray does the same with less hurt to the environment.

Took the Forester out. Crazy neighbors out plowing peoples driveways in their mini trucks. Neighbor has the wood stove fired in his garage, and people are bringing food and alcohol. Party on.

We've got a foot here, and it's gonna go for a bit.

My next check in will be considerably less sober.

Have fun shoveling 20 inches when you wake up tomorrow.
