Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread: Kings win 2nd Cup in 3 seasons (2 Viewers)

Roit was stunningly good tonight. They are going to give Boston problems.
Definitely the matchup pretty much any Bruins fan dreaded.
Detroit was always a #1 seed, they played some teams they never should have lost to and teams like Edmonton in 2006 that looked and in fact was, a horrible matchup. How many #1 seeds have ever lost in the NBA playoffs? Seems like it happens almost every year in the NHL (not saying it will this year), and Detroit got taken out by LAK, San Jose, and Edmonton as a #1 seed.

Sonics/Nuggets with Mutombo is the only one that comes to mind.

I remember back in '86 when the Whale, who finished fourth in the Adams Division, went out, stomped, and just flat blew out the Nordiques that year. Turgeon had an OT winner. The final game was a rout. 3-0 sweep, and it wasn't close.

This Stars/Ducks series is intense. Another thing about hickey is these guys might be friends off the ice, but they ####### despise each other until the series is over. Such a great tournament.

I don't get radio hosts who say multiple overtime games on a nightly basis is bad for hockey.

Stamkos facewashed Subban tonight. Apparently they were childhood buds growing up.

The two games last night had goals in the last two minutes to tie, the Avs one was with less than 20 seconds left. I'm not a fan of any of those teams but I was still nervous for the team with the lead, so awesome.

Lucic is a punk #####.

That deflection he had outta mid air on the pass from Iggy was impressive.

Are B's fans in panic mode after one game?

Wife and I were discussing how Datsuyk didn't look a 100% yet and then he pulled that play off. He's a good one even at 75%. Have to also give Howard some credit - he went toe-to-toe with one of the best - a few breaks went his way but it was a good performance.

Great move by Datsyuk in the neutral zone, but it still was a relatively harmless rush. Rask needs to stop that shot.
Screened by his own player
Abby with some great work there driving the net and taking two Bruins with him to give Datsyuk room.
Watched the replay again, and I was wrong. Definitely a much better shot/play that I originally believed. Credit to Detroit ... other than that incredible Howard stop on Lucic moments earlier, the Bruins just weren't able to generate much in the way of quality chances.

Congrats, Wings fans. On to Game 2!

Video of Abdelkader crashing to the net on that play should be in a coaching 101 video

Wasn't able to catch most of the game tonight because of sickness issues. But I just saw Lucic's stick work a little while back.

Wouldn't be surprised if he caught a game for that. That was a crap move, as a poster above pointed out.

Not good for the Bruins. Certainly not sporting, regardless.

I think he should get a game but he won't. It'll be a fine and that's it.

That's how I'm leaning, too. I just wouldn't be stunned.

Corey Perry is like a little kid when he gets hit. Has to retaliate then points the finger at the other guy. Daley got his money's worth on him in the crease earlier in the game.

Is there panic in bean town rockaction?
I don't know, really. I'm like a Northern CT guy, so I don't have a pulse on the diehards. But people have been nervous about this match-up coming down the pike for weeks now. Especially since it seems like DET finished eighth due to injury, and they're getting relatively healthy.

I think Dickie Dunn and Dr. D are better guys to ask, actually.

I can watch games and see it -- I mean see what's happening pretty clearly, too -- but I don't follow it rigorously enough anymore to know Detroit's lineup, issues, etc.

That should have been a penalty on the Cogliano goal, Stars now within one. Ducks are a very unlikable, crying, complaining bunch of chaps.

No reason to panic IMO, Boston is the better team in 2014. Wings will have to win at least two games in Boston to win this series, but if they played like they did tonight I'm pretty optimistic.

Been down this road too many times to panic after one sluggish game. You don't have to look back too far ... Game 7 vs. TOR last year, even down 2-0 in the series against Montreal in 2011 (losing both at the Garden) before coming back and winning it all.

That said, the Bruins really need to pick up the intensity ... and fast. Detroit is not going to engage them with the physical stuff, and Lucic was especially stupid for

doing what he did to DeKeyser to try to get something going. They're going to need to build the fire from within.

My only worry is that the Wings clearly have the Bruins' number. That's 4-of-5 now this year, even though the Bruins dominated them for the most past at the Joe at the beginning of the month until Gus blew past Chara like he was standing still.

Going against a Babcock-coached team doesn't make me feel any better, either. Still confident, but it's going to be a heck of a grind.

:lmao:

Sorry you lost your bet.

Nice of Konopka to grab Getz' stick and then force a trip.

Nice of Perreault to take a slash to the face.

Neither time did either player or Bruce utter a word.

It's not that, I've hated Getzlaf and Perry forever. Dirty, complaining, and tired. I like Teemu.

Neither complain any more. Not since Bruce took over. Getz use to complain all the time. All he did tonight was put the team on his back. Perry's dirty for sure. Tonight he used it to get the team back in the game.

I thought Anderson made a lot of key saves tonight.

That play Konopka did to draw the Getz trip was incredibly dirty.

how the #### is Zenon Konopka in the Western Conference playoffs if he's currently a Buffalo Sabre?
