Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread: Kings win 2nd Cup in 3 seasons (2 Viewers)

Sidney Crosby may be the best player in hockey, but he’s not the first player Wayne Gretzky would choose for a linemate.Interviewed today on The Dan Patrick Show, the Great One was asked which team he’d want to play for in today’s NHL. Gretzky said that he loves the way Darryl Sutter coaches the Kings. “I think he’s really one of the best coaches in hockey,” he said. “It’s really enjoyable to watch his teams.

“But maybe the Hawks. I’d like to get Patrick Kane the puck. He’s a pretty good player.”

He also had some kind words for Chicago’s captain, Jonathan Toews.

“I think Crosby is the best player in the game, I don’t think it’s even a question,” Gretzky said. “Now if you’re Chicago and you’ve got Toews, I don’t think there’s anybody in the league they’d trade him for, except maybe Crosby. He’s a pretty good 1-B.”

Gretzky says that we could be on the verge of recognizing the Blackhawks, who play L.A. on Wednesday night in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals, as a dynasty.

“It’s harder to be a dynasty with the salary cap system,” he said. “Your homework and your scouting has to be flawless and they seem to have done a very good job of that.”

'Hawks are going to win the Cup again, aren't they?
Battle of the Catamounts. Sharp vs St Louis. My money is on the Rangers (from months ago) but this year looks a lot like last year for Chicago. If they get past the Kings, would be a big upset to see them go down in the finals. West was way better than the East this year.

I love our Rags. Cup faves IMO.
Meh, IMO Kings or Hawks are the favorites.
I think this is right, but barely.

NYR Even

LAK -120

NYR +110

CHI -130

Something like that.
I think you're off by about 25 cents on both, in the West favor.Although I forget who has home ice. I'm assuming West for both
Kings and Habs finished with identical 46-28-8 records. Don't know how that would be resolved if it got to that.

:bag:
Apologies, 'Hawks fans. I swear I had no ulterior motives when I wrote this.
I don't think you're wrong at all. Despite a 4-2 deficit, this team looks incredible. Sharp, Keith, Toews, Kane, etc, etc.
Not in the 3rd they aren't. :X Wheels fell off and the Kings took advantage of every opportunity, on to LA 1-1. :kicksrock:

Man, funny how sometimes all it takes is one bounce. How big was that Williams goal right before the end of the second period? Kings have been a completely different team ever since.

Johnny Gaudreau did some dirty things against Germany.

He can set you up too. The overhead video doesn't do the first pass justice from behind the net.

Here's a better angle on the behind the net pass.

More, please. Filthy move on the goal.
