There's a lot of pressure on this movie. If its bad, I think all the starwars nerds like me may finally give up on all new releases.
You will see them all. No matter how poor the first one is. All the Star Wars nerds will.
You're right, but I won't pay to see them.
Yes you will.
Are you waving your hand at him while you do this? Trying to use Jedi mind tricks over the internet?

No. But that would be cool.

I don't think it can be worse. Only Lucas could screw up freaking wizard samurais with laser swords.
This is a pretty good point.
I have faith in JJ to not make a sucky movie. Hopefully GL just sticks to ideas and leaves everything else to the pros. Something tells me he'll be involved to much and cause problems.
His "ideas" ruined the prequels as well as Indy. Less George = better movie. We've already had enough ideas from him.

Confirm this subtitle I saw in my DVD copy of Episode V: "Hemorrhoids do not concern me, Admiral. I want that ####!"

First Star Trek reboot gave me hope...the second one leaves me less enthusiastic because of some of the blatant pandering to old storylines and giant plot holes.I fear that JJ will force a bunch of cameos from beloved characters and storylines in order to appease what he thinks Star Wars geeks want...

But regardless of pandering and giant holes...there's no way his dialogue and stories will be worse than what Lucas did to this franchise.

Probably the one thing JJ could do to make fans go nuts is have Mace Windu turn up alive after all, hand replaced with a mechanical arm, immediately kicking ### with his special Jedi style. They could just say the people from his planet don't age as fast as others.

Just find a way to bring back Boba Fett...in whatever timeline we're in...I don't care if it doesn't make sense...

Just say no to Samuel L. Jackson.

What all Star Wars fans fail to truly understand (or so it seems or they are in just flat out denial) is the Episode 1-3 were not mae for them.

They were made for our kids.

I am an original trilogy fan. Those movies were my childhood.

Kids love the new ones along with The Clone Wars series.

It's about toys and video games.....just like it was for us.

Really....it's that simple. Episode III was really good. I don't care what anyone thinks. It was was a really good Star Wars movie.

Episode I....meh decent.

Episode II was pure crap except for the last 35 or so minutes. Even my son does not care to ever watch Episode II.

For the record his favorite is also the Empire Strikes Back. But then he loves Episode I and III.

He was 5 years old when I first showed all the movies to him. He just turned 8.

And he loves Jar Jar Binks. Darth Vadar is his favorite character.....but you get the point.

It was not for us.

I hope Episode VII rocks. JJ is a damn good film maker. Loved the Star Trek reboot and will be seeing the new one soon.

Yep...him and his purple lightsaber was the death knell...

Just trying to understand...so...when your son gets your age...will he still like Episode I & III?Or will he gravitate to the ones we all like...Episode IV and V?I very much doubt he'll still like Episode I and III...that is what I submit is the difference. We all still like Episode IV & V.

I love IV and V but also love III. I put III slightly ahead of Jedi(the teddy bears ruined Jedi as much as Jar Jar ruined Menace for me). If you read this thread you will find plenty of people who liked III.

Good movies are good movies and they stay that way. Episodes IV - VI are all good movies, to varying degrees to be sure, but good.

What you're basically saying is that they made three Star Wars versions of the Backyardigans.

In truth, I pretty much agree. Those prequels were simply lousy, and relied too heavily upon CGI, emotional second rate (over-)acting and weakly conceived non-human characters. Awful.

Watched the original 3 with my 4 year old...prequels coming next. I'm genuinely concerned he'll like Jar-Jar

Also FU Lucas for adding in all that unnecessary crap

You fail to understand that what made the original three truly great is that they were good for everyone of all ages. These ####### Saturday morning cartoons about a floppy eared jackass accidentally destroying the most feared army in the universe with a rubber bouncing ball are a bunch of crap piled on #### with a tampon on top. And episode 3 was the absolute worst of the bunch and one of the worst movies summer blockbusters ever made. After Earth was better. Think about that. Lucas sat on a pile of our allowance money and gave us a bunch of nonsense in return that kids alone (along with some seriously disturbing adults with abhorrent taste) think is neat. Other than that, they were a big FU to the millions of us that grew up with it, whose parents loved it too becaue they were actually GOOD instead of kid oriented money grabs.

I thought 3 was good. The other 2 were ok for me. Really if they got someone else to play Anakin in those movies they'd all have been great. Certainly wasn't the childhood ruining excrement some people harp over. And anyone that harps on jar jar obviously denies ewoks existence.

I thought Star Wars was about the Skywalkers?? Not sure I like them getting into nieces and nephews. Besides I had thought GL had turned over/sold very rough outlines for 7,8, and 9? They would most certainly not include anything EU, ever. I think this is bogus. I hope, anyway.

He has used EU stuff before. The name Coruscant came from "Heir to the Empire".

Didn't know that. I thought he hated EU and he never really considered it Star Wars, well his Star Wars anyway.

Leia is the mother of the twins. The lineage to the Skywalker line is there. Since the very beginning of this thread every one has assumed the trilogy would introduce and eventually focus on the next generation. This rumor fits in perfectly with what nearly everyone has predicted. I still think Han gets to die in 7 and then 8 and 9 will shift the focus to the twins. In the EU, Han and Leia have three kids, the twins and a younger son named Anakin.

The twins are Skywalkers.

The Phantom Menace wasn't bad because of Jar Jar... it was a bad movie because it was a horrifically poorly written movie.Probably the best video in the history of You Tube.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxKtZmQgxrI
And the others weren't bad because of Hayden (though he was horrific). They were bad because they had dialogue like "I'm just a simple man trying to make his way in the universe" and "From my point of view, the Jedi are evil. Waaahhh". Even Sir Lawrence Olivier couldn't deliver those lines with a trace of gravitas. The plots were boring, the dialogue atrocious, the directing was either hamfisted or completely inorganic, the plot points had giant flashing neon signs pointing to them and the acting sucked. No one actor stood out and no one actor ruined them. They were dead before they put the first 2 wall set on a greenscreen stage shots on the digichip.

You forget Lucas's piece de resistance:

I don’t like sand. It’s coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.

Yea I know, but they're only half skywalkers. ;)

I forgot about this guy. Almost makes the abortions worth it. "Phantom Menace is the most disappointing thing in my life since my son" and "proto-gunisst".
This review of TPM is 10X better then first 3 movies put together.Qui Gone Gin, because he must be always drunk.

Any of Luke's kids would only be halfsies as well. They'd only get full Skywalkers if Luke and Leia never found out and gave into their instincts. Then she'd pop out full Skywalkers but they'd grow up with no teeth sucking applesauce through a straw, using the Force of course.
