Star Wars Universe (1 Viewer)

Guardians Of The Galaxy is probably the right middle ground. There are friendly elements for kids. And stuff that only adults can understand. The story is simple and the characters are interesting and you care about them. The world building is very good. In new Star Wars, Rey is like a cardboard cutout.

In Ragnarok, the actors at least look like they were having fun. The core new Star Wars stuff is just depressing. Lucas did a horrible job of world building after the first trilogy. A trade blockade?  He also had some bad luck ( Matrix came out roughly around Phantom Menace)

The Marvel movies do a good job of casting. The newer core SW movies have casts that don't really move the needle.
I thought the casting was fine.  The story was absolute unoriginal garbage

After watching Rebels(excellent show), I really think they dropped the ball on the Laura Dern character in TLJ.......and don't know why they didn't use Hera Syndulla as the character in that role.  Would have been insanely impactful for Rebels fans and added a bit of cohesion to the overall narrative of the Rebellion.

Animated R2D2/C3PO series "A Droid Story"

"Andor": the Rogue One prequel (prequel of the prequel with Diego Luna)

Lando series (from the creator of Dear White People)

Obi Wan with Hayden

Ahsoka Tano

"Rangers of the New Republic"

They pulled back from greenlighting everything that had the "Star Wars" name in it, and had a major hit by letting their best creative people focus on one series (the Mandalorian).  Now they just announced 762 new series/mini series/movies.  Hope I'm wrong, but it sure feels like they didn't learn the right lesson.

The Stars Wars news out of the Disney Investor Presentation just keeps coming. At the start of the event it was announced that at least 10 new Star Wars shows were headed to Disney+, and now we know about a few more of them. They include Lando, focused around Lando Calrissian; a mystery-thriller called The Acolyte; Star Wars: Visions, an original series of animated short films; and the animated A Droid Story.

Ahsoka official.

something called Rangers of the New Republic as well.

Hayden as Vader official for Kenobi.
Oh baby: https://www.slashfilm.com/hayden-christensen-obi-wan-series/#more-649416

"Deborah Chow is directing this series, following the work she did on season one of The Mandalorian, and Kennedy promised the show will feature “the rematch of the century” between Obi-Wan and Vader – something which will likely cause fans to lose their minds when they see it."

I mean it’s really like 8-10 things and there are plenty of creative people who can work on a focused series but ok. Hopefully they learned the lesson from the last trilogy but a lot of that was good and the tv series have been great.

And they didn’t green light everything with the name on it. 5 movies and 2 tv series in 10 years since disney bought it is hardly going overboard. They have a massive massive investment in D+ and they have to fill it.

You mean my 762 number may have been hyperbole?  In theory, you're right, but Clone Wars, Rebels, and Mandalorian (all of which I love) have had the same main creative guy behind them.  Without relitigating the last five movies (and their revolving door of writers/directors), I think it's fair to characterize them as a mixed bag.  The new trailers and announcements look very cool, but I'm going to temper my enthusiasm about a non-Filoni-led project until I see it.

Yes I mean Filoni is great but they brought Favreau on board with Mandalorian and I think most would say he’s been a grand slam. Hopefully they give each series one focused voice to oversee it and/or make Filoni the point guy like Marvel does with Feige — either way I don’t think it’s too much for the next 2/3 years.

I am a little confused on the Hayden announcement.  I have read the series is set 10 years after 3.   If so, is Hayden just acting in the suit(ala David Prowse) with another person providing the James Earl Jonesish voice for Vader?

Or will it be a ton of scenes with the Helmet off?

He has to be wearing the suit. My guess.

I worded my question poorly.

I know he will be wearing the suit, I was more asking about how they will use Hayden in terms of the voice part?

I assume if helmet is on it will be some one else VAing but if they went through the bother of casting Hayden, you would have to think they will be showing him with out the helmet at times.

They made James Earl Jones recite every word in the dictionary in case of him passing. They got everything plugged in. Will we get to see Hayden? Don't know. Don't really care. But Darth Vader is back.

SIGN ME UP.

Right. If it's Vader in the suit all the time, with the JEJ voice, who would even know/care it's Hayden wearing it? Pedro Pascal at least does Mando's voice in addition to the 15 seconds of screen time where we see his actual face in the armor.

Maybe there will be a lot of flashbacks to Anakin, for backstory? Or, there will be a lot of Vader-getting-home-from-work-and-taking-off-his-helmet-to-relax scenes?

I’m sure we’ll see a few flashbacks, Vader sitting in his egg thingy thinking about how he ruined his life, maybe even some force conversations.

Like Rogue 1. I thought it was odd, but a little more depth. ALL IN.

Show off his lair. I have a good feeling about this.

Not to poo-poo this, but this will be another stomping on the cannon of Ep IV.  In that, Vader says "when we last met, I was but the learner.  Now I am the Master."  That was established in Ep III, when Kenobi beats him at Mustafar.  Now they are going to have another epic duel to which Vader later acknowledges he was but the learner?  He is a Sith lord.

I'm sure it will be a cool visual and all, but one of the few remaining lines of Kenobi or Vader talking about the past in the original trilogy that won't make sense anymore. :kicksrock:

I assumed it would be pod race rematch vs Sebulba

Well, that's a good point.  If Filoni and Favreau are involved in the Obi-Wan series at all, I trust that they will find a way to make this work where the continuity makes sense.  They pay too much attention to Star Wars detail not to.

Perhaps Obi-wan schools Vader's ### in a game of chess, seeing how popular The Queen's Gambit was.

Part of me says this is absolutely true and the other part says I want more cool stories and they shouldn’t drop those to be beholden to a line said in a movie over 40 years ago where nobody could have predicted what would be to come.

Hmmmmm the common denominator is Favreau between MCU and now Star Wars. He's been instrumental in the MCU and now on the small screen for Star Wars. Love that guy.

Same thoughts, Christensen sucked in the prequel’s, and has done nothing of note except bang Rachel Bilson. Why should we be excited he’s coming back? Stick anyone in the suit and use James Earl Jones voice and you’ll get better acting.

Only reason is they want to have him is to take his helmet off which makes little sense due to Vader’s disfiguring or more likely they want to do a bunch of flashback scenes.

Aren’t they doing some books or something about that? Have to think it’s in the queue at some point. Lot of demand for it.
They are doing a new era, that is even longer ago -- pre sith I believe - called the High Republic.  That is mostly books and comics, but I think one of the shows announced last night will take place in this era.

Yea I don’t know the difference between high republic and old republic at all.

Yeah, I don't either. There is a lot of fertile ground they could cover in the Old Republic and since the characters aren't well known to the general public, they'd have some artistic freedom. I'm  referring to the Revan era stories.
