Not on this board nor in the general public.  If you read the Solo thread you will see the vast majority found it entertaining. 

It is has a solid 6.9 rating on IMDB after more than 240000 votes, which is a rating far from sucking according to the movie going audience.

Well I'm in the minority then because I thought it completely sucked as a Star Wars movie. If I could disassociate Star Wars from it, I guess it's not a bad space heist movie that you just turn your brain off and enjoy. Nothing memorable. But as a Han Solo origin story it was about as bad as they could have done.

That is a fine opinion.  I won't argue it because you know your opinion best.

The reason these threads always turn to crap is because you are basically insinuating that one is an idiot for enjoying something you don't like.  Lines like "this movie sucked and most agree" can be construed as insulting to any who might like a movie.

Just like with the political forum, this goes both ways. Being called a basement dwelling manbaby because I didn't like a terrible movie is also a bit insulting. Not that you are calling anyone that but others have parroting the idiot director of the film in question as if they don't have a mind of their own.

I went into Solo prepared to be disappointed with everything I read about it ahead of time and came out liking it alot. I thought the Han actor did a great job.

I didn't hate E8 like most but it did have it's issues. I loved E7 for the nostalgia but wish it wasn't SO derivative. Rogue One grew on me but I wasn't in love with it like most at first.

The Mandalorion is pretty meh so far.

Yep. I'm talking about Star Wars in a Star Wars thread and voicing my opinion on it. That's me piling on. Please point out where I called someone a moron for liking TLJ?

Sorry my opinion differs from yours and that's why it feels like piling on. Because it certainly feels like you come on defending the hell out of them and you certainly have called critics of it many names.

 
Rewatching from the beginning ahead of Episode IX.  The first few movies really aren’t bad but it can’t be overstated how lame Jar Jar, the CGI and the love story are.  You take those 3 things out and they are decent movies.

Solo was good. Not Rogue 1 good, but I have watched it on numerous occasions.

I am also a dork.

 
I was pleasantly surprised by Solo - I guess I read to many comments about the poor reviews and my expectations were low going in but it was pretty good.

Some people just have wrong opinions when it comes to Star Wars. Solo was definitely better than The Empire Strikes Back or anything in the original trilogy, other than that it is probably near the bottom tier of Star Wars movies

 
i just wish they would wrap in some modern heros like the fat guy from moonshiners or doug markida from forge of fire then you got a great story and some of the faces that america has come to love all in one place take that to the bank bromigos

unpopularopinion = Episodes 1, 2, and 3 are better than Episodes 7, 8, and 9.

The story of the first three episodes was, on par, with the overall stories of Star Wars to that time. While episode 7 was good, it had the same plot as before, episode 8 is, by far, the worst of the bunch, and whatever saving grace episode 9 may have, it can't save episode 8.

The order to watch Star Wars is as follows: Episode 1, 2, 3, Rogue One, 4, 5, 6, 7, and let your mind fill in the rest. Episode 7 left on a good note.

 
Also, someone should knock on Timothy Zahn's door and say, "we know your books are Star Wars but if we change some names, change some things, add some other things, we can do these movies." And, they could be "original" type movies that people would go see. It could work. Why hasn't this been done? Disney could have saved boatloads of money with writing and they would have had three good movies. But, no!!!!!!!!!!

They didn't want to pay more money to Lucas. That's what this all comes down to. They trashed the EU and Lucas' scripts and have been killing off legacy characters so that they don't have to pay George another hundred million or two on top of the $4b they shelled out. Every time a legacy item is used or sold, George gets a decent cut. But he doesn't get as much on Rey, Kylo, Finn and all the new stuff. 

So money is why. Disney looked short term and didn't want to pay anymore than they already had. Now they're desperate though. So they're pulling out the classics. Palpatine, Lando, Wedge, bring em all back.

Little too late to salvage this trilogy, I'm afraid. I will rewatch episode 8, maybe this weekend actually, but damn, what a mess.

This is a pretty good site for insider Hollywood information. It doesn't sensationalize and just reports what it knows. There are no official reports of it but it is very similar to the Star Trek licensing deal where they have to be at least 25% different from regular Star trek in the new movies and discovery.

Not saying a deal like that is unlikely but that’s pretty light on reporting and heavy on speculation.

Solo was so bad that Disney abandoned the Story movies altogether.

Surprised by this.  I'm the exact opposite of your typical cynical Star Wars fan, but I read the leaked script and really didn't like where they are going with this which made me think the more cynical fans will REALLY hate it.

We do but what's the point of arguing about it anymore. I'm just waiting to see if the leaks are true. If so :lmao:

 
Had no plans of seeing this right away, but got invited to a Thursday night showing for free. My wife's managing broker rented out a theater for a showing for his clients and agents. As someone who's been pretty disappointed in the new trilogy but hopeful that they can salvage it because I've always been a huge SW :nerd: , I'll try to give my opinion on it early Friday morning.

This is inaccurate.  They paused the movies.  Not because the movie was bad, because it wasn’t...but because it didn’t perform well . Mostly because the marketing sucked and they released it 6 months after a movie many didn’t like.  

The movies will resume once they get a better handle on things.

Source material is the original Star Wars trilogy. I think there's a few more than <1% know what that is.

The two new movies are excellent.  My kids wanted to do a marathon and it took us a few weeks but we’ve watched every single one. Force Awakens is easily my favorite SW movie (Though ANH isn’t far behind)
 

 And The Last Jedi?  I was on the fence about it when I saw it in theaters.  But after time has passed...wow what a movie. Yeah there were a couple really dumb parts, but that’s a characteristic of every SW movie.

It goes well beyond that but I won't rehash it all again. Glad you enjoyed it. 

 
I do find it interesting that evidently people don't care too much about spoilers for TV, but it's clamp down on info for the movie.  What did it take - about 6 hours after EP1 aired that baby yoda pics and memes saturated the internet?   

 
Another Star Wars Actor Criticizes the Last Jedi

Yet another actor involved in The Last Jedi has come out with some criticisms of the film. The first big name to voice his dissatisfaction was none other than Mark Hamill who, with good reason, already felt a little upset that the gang from the original trilogy never got back together. No Han Solo reunion after all this time? And then in The Last Jedi Luke is a bitter old man, a failure, who ends up saving the day but dying in the process. I can see how you’d feel let down by all that, even if cinematically I think Luke’s final confrontation with Kylo Ren was incredible.

Now we have John Boyega, the actor who plays ex-Stormtrooper turned reluctant rebel, Finn, voicing some of his own complaints. In fact, his complaints are a little reminiscent of Mark Hamill’s. Like Hamill, he’s upset that the core cast from Force Awakens was so completely separated from one another, and didn’t grow to form closer bonds in The Last Jedi the way Han, Leia and Luke did in Empire Strikes Back.

“The Force Awakens I think was the beginning of something quite solid, The Last Jedi if I’m being honest I’d say that was feeling a bit iffy for me,” Boyega said in an interview with Hypebeast. “I didn’t necessarily agree with a lot of the choices in that and that’s something that I spoke to Mark [Hamill] a lot about, and we had conversations about it. And it was hard for all of us, because we were separated.”

Later in the interview, Boyega adds:

“I guess in the original Star Wars films there was much more of a trio feel where it was essentially about Luke’s journey, but, Han and Leia, there was a strong dynamic,” Boyega said. “Which I think, I don’t know how quickly we’re going to be able to establish that long-term dynamic with [Episode] IX, but if it’s exploring that dynamic, then that would be cool. I do feel even after three films still, we don’t know them as much as we got to know Han, Luke, Leia. And maybe that’s a great opportunity to get to know them a little bit more.”
