Star Wars Universe (1 Viewer)

I am confused about the tact the woman mandalorian takes after the Dark Saber duel.
Why bring up the helmet stuff at that point. Seems like she knew the whole time. What is her end game there.

She was telling him how he could go "redeem" himself.

He is told by the Armorer that he can only redeem himself in the waters beneath the mines of Mandalore

The construction of The Mandalorian is like Fallout 3. Just a bunch of sidequests to level up to finish the main narrative.

The Armorer doesn't care about the helmet issue. What is important is Din Djarin is the future for their people. If you follow the Kazuo Koike's Lone Wolf And Cub series, the Mandalorian on a thematic level makes more sense. Much of the world building derives from Kurosawa's Yojimbo, what remains of a fallen society where the established social order has collapsed.

Bo Katan's motives were all based on self interest, ego, external validation and greed for power.

Djarin's motives were built upon his "attachment" to Grogu. Grogu represents the Mandalorian's sense of duty and obligation even without some kind of reward nor return on that investment.

Many of the drivers for Koike and Kurosawa was post WW2 Japan. It's about a culture that lost not just it's industrial base and took savage losses, but also lost it's sense of purpose. Djarin carries the burden of a man without purpose until he saved Grogu.

I was extremely nervous that they were going to do something stupid with the Dark Saber when he checked it for his flight.  Like a cute droid would steal it and then some side mission full of hijinks would ensue.  Thank god Bryce Dallas Howard directed, as opposed to Rian Johnson . . . .

Even in the Star Wars universe women play mind games instead of just telling you why they're upset?

ETA

Sorry, letting me personal  experiences show.  Was just teasing.

Me too

I was surprised when he just went ahead and chopped guys in half.  Too many lost arms, not enough separated torsos in Star Wars.  At the beginning of the fight with the dogfaces, it seemed like he wasn't going to do it, glad that changed.

i want to see mando get used to the dark blade and powerful enough to swing it around like a madman and then use it to kill someone really powerful like thanos take that to the bank bromigos

A major criticism of the  Rey/Kylo Ren sequels was that Rey had no actual character development.

Luke in the original trilogy had real development. He was naive and foolish and reckless, and one could argue he got Obi Wan killed. Then he suffered badly in Empire, not ready to take on Vader. Finally the Luke you see at Jabba's Palace is an entirely different person. Wiser, less reckless, more measured, showed real growth.

Rey just turned on deadly and lethal and capable without any further context as to why that was happening.

Part of the fix that Favreau and Filoni are doing is showing Djarin as vulnerable without being completely nonredeemable and emotional but not being fully weak. The Dark Saber will take time to wield because Mandolorian needs to earn it.

He had to chop guys up and got himself injured because he had a bad plan. But lots of his decisions have backfired on him. I think that makes the character far more interesting.

I was a little surprised Mando said he was going to visit Grogu.  I guess Luke must have agreed to drop-in visitation rights.

Mando must have a good lawyer.

I would love a Luke show set in the same or close time frame of Mando. Man would that be awesome.

Yea, this would be amazing, but they would have to cast a new Luke.  The deep fake doesn't seem sustainable for a full series.  And they kind of pigeonholed themselves with the sequels.

Not sure how deep they want to get into Skywalker stories . . . .

I said this before, maybe even in the last page or two. Disney blew it big time by not commissioning the Zahn books. They could have had a 5-7 season arc between Thrawn and Heir to the Empire trilogy. It could have been Game of Thrones epic scale.

Maybe it’s for the best, it could easily be ruined.  I do think we will get Thrawn at some point though

I know it’s Legends but I would like to see them do the New Jedi Order story arc…it would probably have to be an animated series though

If you go back and watch Mando Season 2 the same two right and she asks them the same question which at the time they both answer in the affirmative.  I assume it’s asked every time.  But since he takes the helmet off in the last episode he now cannot answer yes.

The bane stuff is pretty good too.  Better stories than this junk for sure.

Love me some thrawn though

Just watched the 2nd episode of Book of Boba Fett and I thought it was AWESOME!!! The Tusken Raiders have always been interesting to me......there was a Native American vibe....and that warrior that trained Boba was a badass!!

I think you are thinking of Cad Bane like I was. I watched all of Clone Wars, Rebels and The Bad Batch and I don’t remember him in any of those shows.

Was he the original Rule of Two guy?  If so, those were interesting books, but I don't think he's in canon anywhere.
