Streaming or currently airing TV shows (AKA Netflix thread) (3 Viewers)

About Traitors, should I (or do I need to) start with season 1? Or can I jump right into season 3?
Each Season is independent of another. Same general format across all the nations with some small differences.

Traitors UK did make a major-ish change (The Seer) in season 3 that you would notice being absent going backwards.
Another subtle change you may see are the 'reveal or don't reveal' at the end of the game.
Or the editing tends to get better over time on all reality shows - # of times you see a non-Traitor participant may mean something (or not).
Agreed. The only thing is that if you start watching foreign seasons, the first episode of New Zealand 2 spoils the results of New Zealand 1.

watched Uprising on Netflix today. beautiful scenery. great costuming. didn't feel like it was predictable or formulaic like a lot of Hollywood movies. definitely enjoyed.

wife and i are also slogging through The Madness. it's bad. feels like it had a chance to be interesting but it's just bad. the main actor's inability to close his mouth bothers me way more than it should. it's so distracting.
Madness has a great/scary premise. But agree the lead actor was dull. The premise was good enough that I didn't suffer through it to get the end. But also, zero chance of a rewatch. 3 out 5

Update on my Traitors viewing:

Just finished Canada 2. My favourite season by far, and it had nothing to do with gameplay, which was laughably bad from beginning to end.

And, Tranna is an absolute legend. I’m confident there will never be a better cast member in the history of the show.

Starting US series.

I have Canada 2 ranked second after New Zealand 2. But the current US season could pass them both if it continues to deliver like it has been.

My boss said she couldn't get through US 2 but is now "addicted" because of US 3.

Recruit season 2 (Netflix) - not as good as season 1, but it’s well paced and is pretty actiony.

It’s what Night Agent is trying to be. (I also concur with the sentiment that Night Agent season 2 is borderline unwatchable. It’s really bad).
I just started watching S1. It's fun. Lead actor sells the role, however implausible it all is.
He’s the key. If we don’t buy into him, the whole thing falls apart.
I'm still binging my way into S2.

It's flawed and implausible, but still somehow works. Basically the same level as Jack Ryan, but with more charm.

Only 2 more episodes left of Landman. :wall:
So bad, so boring. I don't know how anyone enjoys this. Billy Bob is the only thing keeping me in. I doubt I'd watch another season unless the last 2 episodes blow me away.
I thought you had liked it but maybe that was someone else
Nah, I was on the fence after the first episode. One episode to go. I watched the last episode by fast forwarding through all the scenes with the wife and daughter and the son and his girlfriend. Made it better. I just realized that a fun way to watch the show is to think of it as a prequel to Bad Santa.

Through two seasons of Lincoln Lawyer. A bit repetitive in its season arcs but interesting. I like most of the characters. Does a good job of not being to predictable with a few misdirections.
Searched through this thread, seems many didn't like it?

I thought it was entertaining enough for what it was. It even got us to to Cole's in downtown LA for a French Dip before a Kings game a couple months ago. Just had to try it out. Pretty sketchy area but interesting place. French Dip was pretty good. Not the best ever but good enough.

I've just started rewatching The Killing (the the original Swedish version Forbrydelsen) and damn is it good, one of the best series I've ever seen. Good acting all around, even better than the US version of The Killing.
On MHz Choice.

Where is this streaming? I thought the US version was pretty good.
MHz Choice, which when I signed up was either $7.99/mo standalone or $7.99/mo as an add-on to Amazon Prime. I get my money's worth out of them.

edit: that second link shows what countries they have series from, and what series they have.

We're watching Prime Target on Apple... but it's feeling like one of those not quite there Apple shows.

any show that has a "spy" or "scientist"... that character isn't just capable of their primary task, they're also not just proficient but experts at every other single thing remotely related. A biologist can some figure out quantum physics, because... science. and in this case, the young- emphasis on YOUNG- NSA analyst who spends her young career watching surveillance footage and noting anything... is somehow a hand-to-hand combat expert capable of fighting off two people who's primary job is EXACTLY THAT. although I'm sure they're also math geniuses with advanced aerodynamic degrees

I'm watching this as well. My wife and I are through three episodes and I'm engaged enough, but your pet peeve is definitely at issue. Like most Apple shows is good but flawed - at least so far. I suspect there will be some eyeroll twist where one of the seemingly innocuous characters works for some big bad guy agency or something.

Just finished Season 1 and S2E1 of Mythic Quest. Started off liking it enough to make it through the first four episodes, and then they threw in the A Dark Quiet Death episode, and liked the series even more. Then, I got to the Quarantine ep and I fell in love with it. Yes, we're 5 years from the episode's airing date, but it still holds up. Ian and Poppy's front door hug was so touching.

I love this show. Poppy is sneaking into top ten tv crush for me. Love her nerdiness and crooked smile.

Update: Kate is the absolute worst. Insufferable narcissist.

There’s an arc with her. I find her kind of funny.

Did you post this after the barrel mission?

Poppy's speech is fantastic... And shows she cleans up nice.

And yeah- perfectly crushable in a non obvious way.

I'm with Bob almost verbatim. That dark quiet death EP took it over the top for me. Gave the show some heart and depth... Not saying was lacking, but just solidified it.

I've taken a little break, I think I'm S3.. but looking to jump back soon

I think I finished S2. If so, the way they closed it out.. fell off a cliff. To the point where I'm likely done with the show, which was already turning into a bit rinse/repeat and implausible to the point of distraction.

Way too harsh on Night Agent in here. Critic score on rt is 79%
And would top 90% with killing Rose.

Easily the weakest link
Hard disagree on that. The lead actor is like a hunk of Vermont Sharp Cheddar cheese with some eyes and eyebrows stuck on, and able to make 3 different facial expressions. Rose is great to look at in a good-because-it's-bad show. And she's a hacker! And she runs!

"Night Agent" is the show that would result from the makers of "True Blood" deciding "let's make another bad one but disguise it as a good show".

He runs weird too.

For 'The Challenge' fans, All-Stars S05 episode 1 is out.
Rivals/enemies from previous seasons are now paired up for the $300k prize.
Cast of 13 pairings.
Ep 1 was introductory for the pairings of enemies and a timed team building endurance exercise caked in mud to set up the initial rankings.

Ep 2
First real challenge is close to the same as on the 'Battle of the Eras' that just ended. Also in Vietnam.
Eras had to jump off the helicopter pad of the Bitexco Financial Tower to grab flags. All-Stars is leaning face-first over the edge to grab the 4 flags after doing a math problem - always a silly combo. Lower flags make them lean further out or jump. In the rain. Test that fear of heights... lots of disqualifications, err 'Fall-stars'.
1min50sec is impressive to complete when the legs are shaking in fear. Heavy rain and wind causing a safety halt.

Elimination - 'Pole Position' - Add poles thru holes of a tube while both partners crawl through, adding +1 more poles each round until someone can't fit to finish the crawl OR first to finish 5 rounds wins (5+4+3+2+1+6starters=21poles). Basically a human sized horizontal Kerplunk game in reverse (add poles instead of removing sticks). 1 team eliminated.

Noticed that too.

Just wrapping up season 2, think I have an episode or 2 left. Anyhow, the last 3-4 episodes I've taken to just fast forwarding through the half of the episode they speak Farsi and it's really helped me enjoy it more. There may be an arc at the end I'm going to miss but there's been nothing from that story line that has added anything to the show for me.
