I binged Goliath again for the third time.
Season 1 still stands out as one of my all time favorite season series.
Challenge accepted! Thanks for the recommendation - I love courtroom stuff and Billy Bob being awesome, so this sounds right up my alley.
So far so good! I’m half way in and I like the people I’m supposed to like and hate the people I’m supposed to hate. I’m in for the ride!

Just started Underbelly, a series about different crime gangsters in Australia. 6 seasons (some places say 7) of 45-minute episodes, with each season about a different particular timeframe and gangsters. It should be called "Violence and Sex in Australia" or "Testosterone Amok, Mate". There's a lot of fast loud music soundtracks in each episode which is annoying but the stories move along and action always ensues. Nothing deep at all going on, no plot to figure out on your own, just copes ineffectively trying to arrest gangsters who kill the hell out of people.
on Tubi and Roku.
Finished the first 2 seasons of Underbelly (13 episodes each) and it's a "sit back and don't think too much" series. Each episode moves long briskly, lots of sex and violence, each season covers a different time frame and place. For what it tries to do it's good. I needed this for relaxation after watching several pretty dark series.

The drop off after the first season is enormous, a little too outrageous for me. Billy Bob is the sole reason to stick with it throughout the series. His constant down home "thanks honey" or "hey Bud" charm shines through the dark periods his character goes through.
I absolutely love the Nina Arianda character "Patty Solis-Papagian" and how her name alone becomes a character.
I fully expect to binge through it again in another couple of years.
Watched season 1 which was really good. Never watched any more of it after hearing how bad the rest was.

I'm enjoying The Pit ... streaming on HBO Max.
Emergency room drama with cusswords and graphic gore.
Excellent writing, character building, and acting. Very refreshing after watching Reacher on Amazon
The Pit may be a bit over the top but is a believable portrayal of what it might actually be like in the ER.

Spent like 15 minutes yesterday downloading apps and scanning QR codes so I could get Apple+ to watch that new Gorge movie (kinda sucked) so Severance better be worth it

Normally Ana Taylor-Joy is good but if I wasn’t planning on watching severance I probably would have passed

still had some hopes for a dumb/bored watch until I heard the comments in here about it. will watch on a plane some time.

Wife and I love The Pitt!
First 1 or 2 episodes were a bit slow, but well worth sticking it out! Hate not being able to binge it but every week we can’t wait to see the next episode. Very similar to the old series E.R. which makes it fun to see Dr John Carter in the Mark Greene role.

Zero Day has a terrific cast and an interesting premise but the execution feels clumsy. An intriguing miss for me.
I enjoyed it.. Kinda.. They took way too long to explain the mind warp.
It was getting to be so annoying I almost stopped watching it.
I did like the final episode. Between a Rock and a hard place is an understatement.
I liked they had the person taking responsibility, which took the show to a good conclusion.

3 out of 5. Worth the watch imo

I've already stated somewhere that I think The Pitt is the best medical drama ever. Just watched e10. Another home run.

Severance perfect game broken up in the bottom of the 8th. Still an interesting episode just way slower than usual.
I think the episode was pretty good but the writing may be getting a little on the lazy side. I hope there becomes a clear reason why Devon insists on reaching out to Cobel. She hasn't really done anything to earn any trust at all but that's the first person Devon thinks to call?

The Pitt has been discussed a few times recently. I think it's the best thing on TV.

My wife is in the medical field and, while some of the drama may be over the top, the actual ER scenes are pretty spot on.

im trying severance because apple tv is all that and a bag of donuts and it is ok so far but sort of slow through 1 and a half episoders take that to the bank broapples

it takes a few to get into the swing... for the show, and for my interest.

looking forward to rewatching S1 before jumping into S2.

Got a 3 month free Apple TV run and binging Apple stuff. Never read Isaac Asimov, but got through season 1 of Foundation. So George Lucas cribbed Asimov/Foundation in making Star Wars, right?

pay attention to everything bromigo. no playing around on the phone.
As much as I'd prefer a quicker paced show, there are few wasted shots or scenes. As you said, a lot of imbedded detail that lends itself to rewatch.

That's the inverse of everyone's advice when I asked about binging 'Parks and Rec' - They pleaded with me to start it on Season 2

I mentioned it in the movie thread but since this is the Netflix thread I'll bring it up here as well. Watched the Andrew Schulz new special this weekend and cried laughing. Thought it was really good, especially if you have kids.

I wouldn't say so. It's been a long time since I read the Foundation series, but the really cool part was about how someone had predicted the future and given them some branches to follow to lead them - more than a magical prophecy of bringing balance to the force. I never thought there was much in the plot that was similar.

Right. He far more ripped off Dune.

In terms of ripping off... I'm fairly certain he cited this as his primary influence.

Just getting a similar vibe of the Foundation universe. Bureaucrats and the evil "Empire" deciding the fate of the galaxy. Other little things like the planet destroyer Invictus, and I thought Gaal talked about a force. No idea if that's in the books. I'm just into season 2 and the Second Foundation are Jedi like, but again, maybe not like that in the books. Thought it was interesting, but maybe I'm making it up in my mind. Have to believe Lucas read Asimov.

Put Slow Horses on your watch list
Really? I started a month ago and quit in middle of episode 5 and haven't had desire to finish. Does it finish strong? Maybe I need to go back and finish.

I'm always intrigued by these responses. If you didn't like it then don't watch it. I thought Gary Oldman throughout was hilarious and there was just enough intrigue to keep me interested, really enjoyed the show, all three seasons of it. If you didn't have the same experience after 5 episodes chances are pretty good it's not going to come around for you

This is how I was with Severance. Struggled hard through season 1, have no desire to watch season 2 but everyone says it's the next great thing. Might be but I'll never know.

Slow took a bit to hook me- I started and restarted a few times with that. But by the end of S1 I was all in- and it got better from there and I binged the ever loving hell out of it. but it's all about watching Oldman chew things up as it is the stories (which are decent).

Severance was the exact same for me in terms of S1. I was even more in on that show by the end of S1... so I'd guess a good choice to pull the plug if it never grabbed you.

I'm terrible with notebooks- but is Schmeabs the guy who hates The Wire? just saying ymmv here

Watched Ep1 of Suits LA. Felt kind of all over the place. No chemistry between any of the characters, no charisma from Amell and he doesn't come across as someone to root for.

Hoping ep 2 gets better but so far? meh.
3 eps in and not much better. Some of the side characters have some good banter/chemistry, but everyone is so dry and no one looks like they are enjoying themselves or having any fun.

Probably watch to see Harvey's appearances, maybe Luis Litt's too since he's reportedly showing up. But if it doesn't improve than probably not in for much longer.

We watched "Paradise" on Hulu.
I'm not a sci-fi fan and had no expectations and had no idea what I was getting into when I started it.
It was good. Not great. Good enough to hold my attention and keep me tuned in and I like watching something new that I haven't seen rehashed a million times before. I will probably tune into S2. Didn't particularly care for any specific characters but somehow found myself feeling bad for the guy that played the President. (not the new older guy, but the previous younger guy)
There isn't any one thing about it I can rave about, and no one thing I hated about it. Would I recommend it? Sure. It's worth giving it a shot. Not the greatest review, I know.

Watched the first 4 episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It's...fine. It's ok. Didn't wow me but didn't hate it. Maybe it gets better later on. Really makes me think of show like Charmed. Still think shows like Supernatural and Grimm did it better though.
S1 of Buffy can be hard to get through. Esp ep 4. Most can be skipped and you won't miss much. Watch 7, 10 and 12 for sure. 6, 9, 11 have their moments.
S2 is definitely a step up. It will be up and down for the first few eps but once you get to ep 6 it really gets going.

For dog owners watching Severance, does your dog have problems while it's on? Apparently some dogs do.

"Some fans of the hit Apple TV series — a surreal workplace thriller that is fast approaching the conclusion of its second season — have noticed their pets getting worked up when “Severance” is on in their homes. Dogs have barked at the elevators or at the sound of key cards being swiped. One Reddit user described how her dog, who is normally calm at night, will pace around the home and whimper whenever “Severance” is on the TV. On TikTok, several viewers reported that their dog went into hiding after they watched the show."

Going to pick up Apple TV short term to binge Severance.

Anything else worthwhile we should try?

Think the last time we had it finished Ted Lasso, The Morning Show S3, Mythic Quest S2, Shrinking S1.

We love For All Mankind. Alt history based on how national and global events might’ve unfolded over the next several decades had the Soviets landed on the moon first.
