Streaming or currently airing TV shows (AKA Netflix thread) (14 Viewers)

Just finished season Two of WentWorth..

My first post on this was that it was good, but wasn't drawing me in as much as I thought it would ..

But now that I've finished both seasons I have to say it is well worth the time.. If you are looking for a Netflix Series to watch I'd recommend giving this one a shot..

Have to say the last three episodes of Season 2 were some of the best of the series..

It has already been renewed for season 3 and 4, with Season 3 starting this April..

we wached goodbye world the other night it was only so so i wanted it to be a action flick but it was more like a terms of endearment thing not so good bromigos

The Machinist -a must watch IMO, especially is you like psychological thrillers

Just watched this. Twisted as all heck. Wife checked out mid way through as it was too creepy for her. Bale is unbelievable. Solid flick, thanks.
Watched The Machinist over the weekend. I hadn't even heard of it until the rec in this thread. I don't exactly keep up on Hollywood news, so it's nice to have a lot of movies like this out there that are new to me.
 cool movie.
Watched this last night. Woah... messed up!

watched "The Trip to Italy", which served as a follow-up to "The Trip". Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon aren't as good this time around. I guess the thing about the first one was that it was such a pleasant all the way around. This time driving around in a MiniCooper, eating great and riffing off one another just wasn't enough for me. It wasn't as thoughtful this time around. Meh.

I thought Marco Polo really picked up by the middle of the season if you are able to stick with it. Really enjoyed the last few episodes.

The Returned (French) may or may not be on Netflix, but A&E (or maybe AMC) has been showing it lately. We watched it when it was first broadcast in the US... one of my favorite shows of the last couple years- very creepy, well shot and acted. I think the US network showing it here is remaking it verbatim (ABC did a horrible take-off of it), and I think there's a second season supposed to be released of the French version.

"All This Mayhem" The documentary on Ben & Tas Tappas - the Australian skateboard studs.

I was sucked into this story and couldn't turn away.

I actually loved the way they painted Tony Hawk into looking like a dweeb d-bag of sorts.
This sucked me in as well, watched it the other night. I had just gotten out of skateboarding when they were coming up so I wasn't too familiar with them.

A lot of talent mixed with stupid decisions.

I thought both this and the Lance documentary Stop at Nothing were compelling. And some similarities in the power wielded and douchebaggery of Hawk and Armstrong.

:goodposting: Great television. It was on Netflix Instant at one point...not sure if it still is.

I probably already mentioned it but Happy Valley is well worth it as well. Tough at times to decipher the accents but wife and I loved it.

McConkey .

Doc on Shane McConkey regarded as perhaps the greatest skier of all-time.

Jaw-dropping footage and so much of it.

A must watch.
Thanks for this recommendation - great footage

But I gotta go to bed now so I can get up and sit in a cubicle for 8 hours tomorrow :kicksrock:

Watch the bones brigade documentary that is currently streaming, you'll get a different perspective. I gained more respect for Tony after watching it. The irony is that growing up skaters were the outcasts and yet twice as judgemental to those that didn't fit their mold. Also the story of rodney Mullen during this is unreal, the guy is an inspiration.

it's definitely on cable TV right now... watched a few minutes last night and was reminded how well done it is, particularly considering the story.

to repeat: HIGHLY RECOMMEND... The Returned (french).

I just started House of Cards a couple of weeks ago after giving up on Orange is the New Black. Great show -- nearing the end of season one.
It's outstanding.

And the cool thing is that the cast of characters and locations is increased in season 2.
does he stop talking to the camera?
No - that is part of the show's shtick
Grrrr.

Maybe i will adjust if i am prepared for it this time. Only have seen 1 episode. Been looking for a different show, but thought Orange is the new black was just ok.

Just watched "Stop at Nothing" - i sort of followed the Armstrong career but never invested that much time to follow it that closely. I had no idea this guy was such an d-bag. I mean, Royalty level d-bag.

I think this doc, could have gone into another hour with more in depth story telling of his complete collapse and I wouldn't have been bored for a minute.

Why would you want that?

In general I am with you on V.O.s but Spacey tearing down the fourth wall in HoC is generally awesome.

Wow....very good! Very different perspective.

Great quote from Duane Peters in this: "Hawk just kept getting bigger and bigger, every time I came out jail, I meant it was like whoah!" :D

Crazy, so similar to Housuii and his story. I've always been a big surfer and the stories at exactly the same. Crazy how little the companies actualy look after the riders.

If you haven't started Peaky Blinders yet, you are doing yourself a disservice. Only 12 episodes and they are all good. Great acting/writing, great show.
I watched it last year and I liked it so much it got me to finally watch all of Boardwalk Empire.

Having finished Boardwalk Empire, I can say, I personally liked Peaky Blinders more.

Yeah, Hosoi was a similar example of great talent and bad decisions. His documentary Rising Son was good as well. Not sure if it's on Netflix though.

Watched about 5 episodes of Magic City and am hooked. Just read it was cancelled after 2 seasons but will watch them anyway.

Two flicks:

Snowpiercer- liked a lot, somewhat dopey plot/background but well done.

Get the Gringo- mel returns in his normal smart ###, bad ### role aka lethal weapon. Good movie for killing an hour and 40 mins, recommended
Yes I enjoyed both. Get the gringo was a flashback to older Gibson films like Payback. Enjoyable.

will there be a way to watch Daredevil without netflix? I don't really want to resubscribe but might opt to for their exclusive shows.

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Nice documentary about our flotilla of plastic in the Pacific ocean and the havoc it is wreaking and what you can do about it. Plastic sucks and most of us are supporting the decimation of our ocean's ecosystem by using so much of it. A real uplifter, I know. At least the filmmaker is easy on the eyes.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is awesome.
It's a little inconsistent, but holy crap, the joke-per-minute ratio is off the charts. So MANY little funny things that if you aren't paying attention for the 4 seconds its on the screen you will miss. I LOVE this show and I love the rapid fire jokes that are made. I could watch this all day.

It is a fun show. My favorite part is still the autotune opener based on the first few minutes of the pilot. Can't help but smile when it is playing.

"Those females are strong as hell. Unbreakable!"

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is awesome.
i watched the first episode last night and was pretty meh. it's the same rhythm and voice as "30 Rock" as near as I can tell. that's not necessarily a bad thing but i sort of feel that it's not fresh enough to devote time towards. i'd rather watch "Bob's Burgers" than "UKS".

Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer

Great quote from Hank Greenberg former Chairman & CEO of AIG when asked what his AIG stock was worth after the economy tanked:

(slight shrug) "....it was practically worthless. Maybe $100 million."

I get that when you are dealing with Billions of dollars, you can say that 100 million equates to something practically worthless, but for me, that quote just sounds funny.

And the woman, I can't remember her name, young girl who was the top boss married to the guy that I think started Emperors Club VIP - this chick was funny.

Interesting, Bob's Burgers is one of the shows Kimmy Schmidt reminds me of. Also, more Parks & Rec than 30 Rock IMO

Went back and gave House of Cards another go. I am about 5 episodes in, and it is very good. Almost too intricate, as my dumb ### seems to be missing how a couple people/things tie in.
