I'm only 1 episode in - but maybe the sharks killed someone?

jk - seems like it has to be the mother or the fiance, given the character at the airport.  (I know the mother is coming - that was in the trailers - but I don't know the dynamics between her and the fiancé - maybe one killed the other?)
Tbh, I'd be surprised if it's either of them.

Been watching white lotus but it hasn't really been doing it for me. I guess I just don't know what it's supposed to be. If the goal was to make me hate most of the characters (especially Plop and the teenage girls), mission accomplished,  I guess.

There's some awkward funny moments but nothing laugh out loud.  Based on the initial scene at the air port I assumed it was gonna be some sort of "who done it" kinda thing, but that obviously hasn't been the case. It's just weird.

Someone is obviously gonna die but I can't imagine it's gonna be the obvious option. If I had to guess...stiffler's mom screws over the masseuse over the whole wellness center thing and she snaps and kills her.

Her and Rico circling the unhinged J Coolidge seem possible.

Either teenage girl seems possible- daughter killing her friend, or friend killing any of the family (dad most likely).

Lots of people circling the GM, who is hilariously falling off the wagon and sanity.

And I suppose the fiance could go after the MIL or vice versa, but seems too obvious.

Its a little like Succession on HBO (but not as good) - none of the main characters have any redeeming quality. The side characters are mostly virtuous, but the leads are all contemptible.

It's kind of like watching a multi-car crash on the interstate in slow motion - it's hard to look away LOL.  All of the characters are flawed in a different their own way.  It's the complete antithesis of Ted Lasso, which I also love for completely different reasons obviously.

I think my favorite characters so far are the Dad and the son.  The Dad has had some of the best lines in the show and I like the story arc of the son, plus I can relate a little since my son is at least a little similar with regards to the screen time issues.

I feel the same. Also I find most of the soundtrack distractingly bad. I have a hunch parts of it are designed intentionally to add more irritant to scenes (particularly as they seem to put the soundtrack forward in the overall sound mix to an extent most shows don't), but I'm not a fan even if it is intentional. I do like some of the Hawaiian choral fusion tracks, though those too seem to go on too long and loud for the scenes they're in.

The music is my 2nd favorite part of the show behind Stiffler's Mom. It's so perfect.

👍

The wife asked me "Do you like this show?"  I said "I haven't decided yet."  I'm 4 episodes in.

If it wasn't for the teaser scene with the casket I definitely would have given up by now.  Alexandra Daddario in a bikini 90% of the time doesn't hurt of course.

I really disliked Succession. Characters all too much like cartoon bad versions of my clients...don't need more of that.

Just watched The Malice at the Palace Netflix doc.

It was something I was looking forward to because the trailer promised all these behind the scenes footage you supposedly haven't seen and all these untold stories. Also I thought it was a five part series.

What I got was just over an hour doc that pretty much rehashed what I already knew. Sure there were a few angles that were new and an interview with exactly one Piston player and one ##### bag fan, but they should have just called this behind the scenes with the Indiana Pacers.

It was a very disappointing doc.....

Anybody watch the first 2 episodes of Reservation Dogs on Hulu? I kinda like it.

it’s about a group of kids living on a reservation, some pretty good comedy. The little dudes on the bikes are gold. Oh, and William Knife-man.

also, it was created by Taika Waititi, and you can definitely see his influence.

The Vault - Netflix - poor man's Ocean's 11, without all the fancy big name actors (Though Ser Davos has a starring role).  Spanish film, but in English.

Dragged in a couple of places, but fine entertainment, sequel set-up.
We liked it.  Don't remember it dragging but I fast forward by instinct.

Just completed s2 and another big 👍 for Mr Inbetween.

Really surprised this show isn't getting more mention.
I'm most or all of the way through S2 as well thanks to this thread. Really good stuff. Rides amazingly between fantastic humor and gut crunching psych-drama-action. Seeing where Ray is now and where he might be going...

I’ve been watching Dharma and Greg (Hulu). I liked it when it originally aired and I think it holds up well today.
The parents are so funny.

episode 9 of season 2 is one of the best episodes of any TV show I've ever seen. edge of your seat stuff the whole way.

I watched The Suicide Squad on HBOMax since I knew I’d never pay for it. I’ll be honest that I really couldn’t figure out if I liked it or not. It definitely was way better than the first one because it didn’t take anything seriously and was happy to do cool kills. It kind of reminded me of Kick-### in that way, but wasn’t as good.

Part of the confusion was that the got rid of Deadshot (I’m sure Will Smith wasn’t eager to return) and now had his replacement in Bloodsport and also whatever John Cena’s character was (I don’t recall). Does DC just have a score of these sniper/weapons guys in jail with teenage daughters?

I actually enjoyed the squad characters, all pretty funny, but the starfish was really kind of dumb. Some scenes like when they “save” Flag, we’re great because I knew the joke before the saved him. Margot Robbie was again solid. Her solo movie was atrocious but she was really good here, you definitely root for her.

Nanaue was awesome. I would say worth a watch for free on HBO.

i watched a movie called paper tigers and it was sort of ok it kept me mildly entertained for about two hours so i guess that is all you can ask for these days better that someone sticking a meat thermometer in your ear and hammering it in with a foundation block that is all i am saying take that to the bank brohans

Anyone check out Reservation Dogs on FX/Hulu? Only a couple of episodes in, like it so far.

Half-hour comedy that follows the exploits of four Indigenous teenagers in rural Oklahoma who steal, rob and save in order to get to the exotic, mysterious and faraway land of California.

Plus, Taika Waititi co-created it, and he the man.

Thanks to @gianmarco for the rec on Last Tango in Halifax. Finished it last night.

I'm not generally a family drama fan but this was a good show all around.

Except for that last season. That was tough to get through. Thankfully it was only 4 episodes.

Malice in the Palace on Netflix about the Pacers/Pistons fight in the stands. Pretty great. I need a Stephen Jackson jersey

We are about halfway, or more, thru 1st season.  Really digging the characters, and their chemistry.....I find myself laughing out loud multiple times per episode.....usually when Sam is brutally honest......the mom is a bit much, but I guess that's kinda the point.....she annoyed me in fast times too
I just started Season 2 and this is my only quibble with the show. I've just never been a Jennifer Jason Leigh fan.

There’s a second episode next week.

You've got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
And latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between

Just to clarify- what happened post suitcase addition warrants a handshake and a flight home the next morning?

Yeah, I thought that was very odd as well.

Would he eventually have been able to go home? Probably.  But the next day? Seems very unlikely. Surely there would be an investigation.

Also wasn't sure what happened to make the lovely Ms. Daddario immediately forgive him.

again....weird show.

She's a weak, underwhelming woman outside of her looks (the character) and I think she comes to grips with that. That she essentially ends things earlier in the day but still hangs around with him, and still blubbering with no sense of closure was the first obvious sign she wasn't going to change.

But btw- love how the ahole husband was written. He's a ####- and could have been written just for one dimensional laughs, but he's still thoughtful and complex and seems to love her in a supporting way. Came away enjoying that character the most from this.

Anguilla had a murder/self defense incident happen in a hotel by a young NYC metro dude (husband father). I wouldn't doubt some of that was inspiration for this...but I don't recall them giving the guy high fives to the airport the next morning. Think the guy had to lawyer his way out of jail there back to the US

What happens to Daddario is a cascade.  She was desperately seeking validation the whole time and kept getting shut down.  Finally she actually sought help and advice from someone who was capable and willing to help her until that person was screwed by someone who no longer needed her help.  Take away, woman are terrible.  (I think?)

The son was my favorite character. If you have ever been to Hawaii you can probably relate.

Definitely a weird show but at least it was different.  I'll tune in for a season 2.

It seems to me the characters are entirely - tourists bad / workers good.  There are some great characters, and I do think Shane was one of the best on the show.  Daddario's character was always pathetic and despicable - a Carmella Soprano type - and they drove that home in the final episode.  The son had a bit of a redemption arc, but even at the end really beat us over the head with the message of how entitled and self-absorbed the baddies are.

I thought it  was pretty decent. Felt bad for Jermaine O'Neal.  Also opened my eyes how bad ESPN and they've been pushing their own narrative for quite some time.  They painted a picture of the Pacers being a bunch of thugs and much of America bought it.
