Feels like it has a limited shelf life….4 seasons may be the limit. My wife and I watch it as well. However, we both agree the show has declined since season two. But, it's still good enough for us to watch. One of the few shows wifey and I can watch together. On season 2 on “You”
So far it has been very entertaining.
Funny. The Beach part was what hooked me for goodI'm talking about the part where they reach the beach and meet Hatter. Somebody in some other thread (maybe this one) likened it to a YA plot, which I thought might have been literally true -- I'm not sure what the source material for this show is like.I did not like the YA turn and bailed shortly afterward. But I agree that this show is at least worth trying. And I especially agree about the games themselves being a lot more engaging.Binged through both seasons of Alice in Borderland. Incredible show. Incredible ending.
Loved the show, but the ending fell flat for the wife and I. Too drawn out I think, and while the ending leaves you pondering some it quickly passes unlike something like Inception for instance.
I just binged both seasons and I thought it was amazing. The ending explanation was bound to be a bit of a let down I think. Seemed almost unavoidable. But I appreciated that it provided a relatively clear resolution rather than something ambiguous and annoying. As for the meat of the show itself it sort of amazes me that this preceded Squid Games but it was Squid Games that became the Netflix game of death phenomenon. The games in Alice were so much more intellectually interesting and thought provoking. And the weaving in of personal backstories into the game play and resolution is as good or better, imo. Anyway, I’m glad I took a chance on it while looking for a new show. It’s really, really good. And Chishiya is probably one of my favorite characters of the past year.
At what point was the YA turn? The love story? I mean the violence was pretty darn graphic throughout.
I don't mean that as a put-down or anything. I just liked the first few episodes of the show better, when it seemed like more of a gritty, dystopian SF show that committed to really weird premise, kind of like Cube. Expanding the world to bring in a social power struggle just wasn't the plot development that I was looking for.
It's funny. He pretty much can say whatever the **** he wants about Will and Jada now and he knows there will be zero consequences. No, he didn't. He gave Will Smith a verbal beatdown.Didn't hold back about the Oscar incident.Chris Rock is live on Netflix right now.
Honestly though, considering he waited over one year to comment on the incident, I wish he did something more constructive than basically call Will Smith a ***** and claim he has selective outrage. Instead, with his intro and his build up to his finale where, again, he just bashes Will Smith but doesn't add anything thought-provoking, it seemed more like high school revenge than anything that is actually thought-provoking.
Overall I found the special to be good but not great.

I haven't seen anything with Nathan Fielder, but I liked Cunk on Earth a lot. I laughed out loud once or twice per episode, and I almost never laugh out loud while watching stuff. (I also thought to myself, a few times per episode, "That missed: it was trying too hard." But I'll take the misses given the hits.)I get what they're trying to do, but you have hit exactly the right note for this style of humor to work. Nathan Fielder hits that note. This show does not -- it tries a little too hard for my tastes.Anyone else give Cunk on Earth a try (Netflix) Not horrible. Kind of like an Ali G Show where she acts stupid interviewing smart people. Going through the history of the world it seems. I only saw the first episode. 30 minute episodes. I liked her in After Life and she's ok here. Maybe it'll get better.
Such an odd show but I keep watching.

Watched the first episode. Really, really bad. One star, will not continue.Preview of History of the World Pt II I just saw really looks like a bad Drunk History ripoff.
Gervais decided to end it with Season 3.I started watching After Life this week and it has been enjoyable. Reminds me a bit of the old show Louie with a hint of Ted Lasso. At 30 min/ep and 6 ep/season it flies by, I will start season 3 tonight. Does anyone know if it was renewed for season 4 or is it finished?
season 1 trailer (for those who have never heard of the show, language warning)

Started watching this... pretty darn funny. Certainly helps that I live so close to Canada.Yeah Letterkenny is some funny ####
Kee, I’m gonna need you to take about 20% off the top there or I’ll have to come over there and talk to ya….Started watching this... pretty darn funny. Certainly helps that I live so close to Canada.Yeah Letterkenny is some funny ####
Cracks me up, though, at the beginning of each episode when HULU announces that this show is "intended for mature audiences only". I can assure you that there is nothing "mature" about this show

We've been having this on lately, too.I'm about to finish watching The Wire for the fifth time.
100/10. Greatest show ever. Gets better every watch. If you've never seen it get out of your Platonic cave.
I haven't watched any of the spinoffs, but I completely agree with you about Yellowstone. I can't believe we lasted 4 episodes. Hard to enjoy a series when you are rooting against the protagonist.1923 is the worst show I’ve seen since….Yellowstone. I suspect there’s a trend there. I won’t be back for season 2.
Somehow 1883 was amazing but the other shows that guy makes are horrid imo.
I got through more than 4 episodes, but I was also turned off by the evil nature of the main characters. While I do oftentimes like shows where the protagonists are not "good" people (e.g. Dexter, Sopranos, Bates Motel, Peaky Blinders) what I think enhanced my dislike for Yellowstone was my living in an area where the Dutton Ranch was championed and I received significant push back when I would try to argue with my friends/acquaintances that the Duttons were basically the bloods/crips.I haven't watched any of the spinoffs, but I completely agree with you about Yellowstone. I watched that several weeks ago, thinking "there's no way a show about an all-female Muslim punk-rock band in London can be good". Man was I wrong. It's a damn funny show. Wife wants to watch it again soon.laid up at home with the rona today, so decided to see if there was anything on Peacock worth watching. I decided to try an episode of We are Lady Parts... and just wrapped up binging the whole thing. loved it.

I also made it through about 4 episodes of Yellowstone season 1 before tapping out. I think what did it for me was the terrible writing, even for a hallmark card soap opera, the ridiculous dialogue, the comically absurd characters and story lines, and the terrible acting.

Kind of over Ted Lasso. Watched the first one tonight and it’s just more of the same. I’ll watch the entire season but they are right to finish it.

Around the same time, I also binged Pornos and Icecream, an argentinian very silly show... More silly but similar to lady parts wit music at it's core with socially awkward outsiders.I watched that several weeks ago, thinking "there's no way a show about an all-female Muslim punk-rock band in London can be good". Great show. Filmed 2 blocks from my house. The Last of Us (HBO) - Wife couldn't handle the initial child death, so I've enjoyed the first three episodes by myself. Really feels like The Walking Dead but I really enjoyed the first couple of seasons the TWD so I'm enjoying this. No rating yet.
Now that we're in season 4 I can say REALLY good show. Since I liked all of Westworld it figures I should like this one - Jonathan Nolan and man vs machine theme and all. We're watching Person of Interest on HBO max. Good show.

S4E11 was like watching a Christopher Nolan movie. Terrific.
I had enough after two seasons. Won’t even bother with season 3 to be honest. But it was fun.Kind of over Ted Lasso. Watched the first one tonight and it’s just more of the same. I’ll watch the entire season but they are right to finish it.
Most certainly not!!!Kind of over Ted Lasso. Watched the first one tonight and it’s just more of the same. I’ll watch the entire season but they are right to finish it.
Major League didn't need sequels either....

During the Series Finale of Better Call Saul, AMC had commercials with the names of new series with Bob Odenkirk and Giancarlo Esposito. I thought the Bob O one was going to be called Straight Man (ETA- further Googling shows Lucky Hank is based on the novel "Straight Man"). Haven't heard anything more about the one with Esposito. The new season of Better Call Saul is out tomorrow. They're calling it "Lucky Hank" though.
I'll check it out.
I don't know what it's about but I will definitely give it a try. Michael Scott: I tried, I tried. I tried to talk to Toby and be his friend but that is like trying to be friends with an evil snail.I don't know what it's about but I will definitely give it a try.
