Oh, nice. Didn't know they made a sequel. I liked the original and Shannon is fantastic. Will have to check this out.

I thought it was fascinating. Covers the events after Waco, what happened to some of the survivors, as well as some other pieces that I wasn't even aware of. Don't want to give too much away, but if you liked the first one, the sequel is a must-watch. Ribisi and Shannon are both great.
I rarely "binge" watch anything anymore, for a variety of reasons (kids, kids' sports, my old age, etc.). I watched all five parts of this series last night.

real real tear jerker, that. If I had to nitpick here I'd argue that the events at the end were out of order. Elsa is your climax and that should have been your ending. In general, I still feel like it was meh to good with a nice ending. I thought it was a nice show but at no point was I ever like "wow this is so amazing!" I might backtrack with my dislike of the narration, maybe in the last few episodes it gave it more of a "Western" feel or maybe just the melancholy of the situation.

Dark Winds is pretty good. Decent mystery stories and I love the Southwest scenery - I've actually been in a couple of the small towns they mention in the show. Plus, I like Zahn McClarnon.

Really enjoyed the first few seasons of HBO Max Succession. Been awhile since I watched season 3. I think I liked it? Just finished season 4. Out of respect for the first few seasons I finished it. Just wasn't good for me. Slow. Long. Drawn out. Yawn. Rinse and repeat. The storyline just got stale.
Be careful. You will get a lot of slack for saying that. I thought the show was overrated. I also understand I am in the minority.

I think the difficult challenge for these sorts of shows where there really isn't a likeable character is to keep a viewer's prolonged interest. The Sopranos is the only show I can think of that really pulled it off. For me, like you here, shows like Mad Men, Succession, Yellowstone, etc. all caused my interest to eventually wane because I just didn't care anymore about what happened to the characters.
Breaking Bad/BCS (Hank, Kim, Jesse in the later seasons were all likeable), Dexter, etc. all did okay (or at least didn't cause disinterest for this reason) because they still balanced the "bad" main character(s) with some likeable other characters that kept interest.

I'll continue to champion this show whenever I can in this thread. The writers do a phenomenal job with the culture and landscape of where and when this show is set. Wonderful attention to detail that honors the Navajo people.

We were all in a funk over the weekend and decided to watch something short and dumb. Picked La Palma... 4 ep Norwegian disaster porn about the Canary Island that *could* trigger a multi-continental tsunami should things go badly.

I'm liking it too, although I also liked Raised By Wolves which most didn't. Dig Fimmel, but it's weird to me that Desmond Hart is almost the same character as Marcus Drusus in Wolves, which is kinda confusing, especially since Raised By Wolves also has a Dune connection. Still, like the show.

7 episodes into Say Nothing (Hulu). Pretty well done…..
I watched Say Nothing after seing it recommend here and didn't really care for it. I guess I was expecting good things after the reviews here.

I've made it through the first 9 episodes so far. they're all pretty short, so it's an easy watch. the Warhammer one is INSANE, and my favorite so far. also, the Armored Core one has Keanu as the main voice, and is also very good...but too short.

I liked it. I find Kiera Knightly attractive but man between her teeth and her skin she has not aged well at all. Shocked she is only 39.
I don't know that I'd say she hasn't aged well. But I did find it jarring seeing an older version of her because I'm pretty sure the last time I saw her in anything was 20 years ago.

The Floor finale
Was switched up from just the final dueler winning in 1 of 2 categories. The twist is that they would duel in each other's categories and then a 3rd - that we didn't get to see as the winner won their own and the inherited category for the other.
Hiding on the Floor and keeping your own category was still the best tactic.
Between hiding and picking a specialty that scares people, it was an easy win for...

While an interesting concept and want to see it play out. I wouldn't want to win an island or a lambo as a normal person. Seems like it will throw the winners into bankruptcy via taxes or upkeep. Like those house renovation shows from 20 years ago - give orphans a home (foster parents got the house and the kids went homeless) or most got a bigger beautiful house that now had electric bills costing more than their salary.

Before they even start up $1mil was literally dumped on the floor and the 1000 contestants could opt out and split it. 52 did for $19,230 each. Not a bad earnings for 5 minutes.
They are on 1000 square platforms with a camera and a tablet in long rows. Nice visual effects as they make it appear that the platforms are independent of each other and high enough that you can't see the bottom - but no one is standing queasily and they jump up/down. The ceiling cameras are high enough that they look like ants. Heck of a big building - but in the daytime (Ep 2) it's smoke and mirrors.
The building they are in is just the top floor of one in 'Beast city' (cost Mr Beast $15mil to have built - more like a compound with an apartment complex).
Behind the scenes: 1107 cameras used and an impressive control room to verify accuracy for timing, tracking, and whatnot.
They will get down to 500 by the end of the episode.
Games begin.

Game 1 is the entire row they are on (80 players per) they are a team, 1 person must sacrifice themselves for the rest to move on. Each sacrifice could have had (less than) $19k and now they get 0. Time sensitive as the slowest 3 rows are eliminated. They drop down the platform when the bottom of it opens. Aaaaaaahhhhhh (but no splat). Entire rows of people dropping like dominoes or all at once - cool. 705 remain
Game 2 they must balance shapes on top of each other within a time limit - don't have a fully built tower - eliminated. First 100 tower falls get eliminated. If 100 have not fallen - will wait until 100 do. Stand very still... 605 remain
They will move out into the city at the end of episode 1. The city only has 500 beds. At least 105 must go.
Game 3 is another bribe ($10000 starter) to see if people are willing go. Back into row teams opposite vertical or horizontal as before. You take the bribe and everyone else is eliminated in your row. Opposite of sacrifice to save others. Be greedy but don't be too fast. The longer they stay, the more the bribe goes up. But take too long and someone in your row takes it - you are gone. Work together and continue for the $5mil. Some rows immediately started saying their names to each other instead of their number.

Game 4 participants are blindly picking a token with 1-4 on it for the floor they will be playing on. Left side vs right side. Each token has a hint on it and can be traded with someone else's.
Floor 4 - hope you can catch. Balls are dropped from above onto their 'ceiling' that has round holes for the ball to pass thru. Catch the ball and advance. Drop it and the entire side is eliminated. One side wins (4th ball)... but the Control room reviewed footage and the other side bobbled their first ball (ironically by a former WR) and it touched the ground. Reversal of winners. 431 remain
Floor 2 - less is more. Each side has to get their own side to sacrifice themselves. Timed game (30 min) in which the side with the least amount of players will advance. Sides cannot see each other to see how many remain, but there is a phone that they can talk to each other. Bluff or truth? 366 remain
Floor 3 - get ready to throw down. Each individual throws a ball into a red cup on the ground. Team with the most advances. A bunch already threw theirs (sucks to be them) before a gold cup was added with a tiny hole - to get $250k. Team player or $$$? 305 remain
Floor 1 - use your brain. Symbols under their feet (4 sectioned square make them think it's memory). Nope. Trivia time. Groups of 4 from each team compete. Most correct advances. 242 remain
Game 5 Each floor nominates 1 Captain to represent them. That person can take a bribe and eliminate the entire floor. The bribe has a cap and if it gets there, no one gets eliminated. Twist: It's not a self sacrifice if they don't take the money. But... they can take the $$$ and eliminate the floor AND stay in the game.

Well.....there have been plenty of successful episodic shows and I think that's what open world would translate to. So I think they very much could do one but that's not a bill Amazon wants to foot. I think the stories (in Fallout games) have been fine? IDK, I don't need a ton of exposition for pretty basic motivations so I think 3/4 are perfectly fine storywise. New Vegas' is dumb but I'm also not big into gangster/mob stuff but it makes sense for the setting.
All those 10/10 reviews on IMDB are mindboggling. Could someone please direct me to the people that are paying people to write 10/10 reviews? I mean, it's good not great. I think the source material is wonderful and one could do great things with it but that might not be the killers of Westworld.
