I just watched the first two episodes of The Bondsman starring Kevin Bacon on Prime.
I’m not normally a fan of the undead genre but I like KB so I gave it a look. It’s got some good music and I learned a new use for duct tape.
About 10 minutes in and like what I'm seeing.

Hmmm. Never even heard of this Kevin Bacon? Undead? I'm in. Thanks
Waiting for him to attach a chainsaw to his arm.

For those that like 'smart' comedy:
Smartypants (Society) series is pretty good. Currently in season 2.

3-4 sketch TED-talk type of informal presentations per show.
Presenters pick a topic and present their view's pros/cons.

Most recent episode had a topic like this:
Why don't millennials buy houses? Answer: Hip Hop
Breaks down lyrics

Woman of the Dead
2 seasons, 6 episodes each
Netflix
Woman owns a funeral home, begins solving unsolved crimes and then killing the killers. Basically a revenge series.
First season much better than the second.
I wouldn't call it good. Passably enjoyable, especially when Anna Maria Muhe is on the screen.

Copenhagen Cowboy
1 season, 6 episodes
Netflix
"a death dream with a very loose narrative woven together with a smorgasbord of ideas and styles inspired by the mysticism and folklore from multiple cultures. It's a dizzying and head-scratching six episodes to which it's pointless to try to ascribe too much plot or even thematic analysis."
I recommend not watching this. I was glad it was over.

So it's Dexter crossed with Six Feet Under? Basically a tribute to Michael C. Hall?

Oh... We tried that show about the exploded super secret Pitt prison. Lol... Wow.
The Hunting Party? Interesting it was getting some "The Black List" comparisons prior to it airing.
Only 2 episodes thus far. It has the Blacklist 'bad person of the day' per episode feeling and the lead is pretty raw in acting.

Drawbacks thus far:
- Pilot episodes are always an intro to the characters and an easy solve for time savings - no problem.
- It was multiple weeks between episode 1 and 2 - easy to forget anything about the first one and the characters.
- No 'A' level star actor/actress like James Spader or Mandy Patinkin / Joe Mantegna to lean on. You can see the 'notch below' acting too much.
- Need more of a team of experts, but they may be showing another addition - unsure. Missing the usual stereotypes. Not a 'procedural' drama (Criminal Minds) where everyone has a line and higher technical details.
- Second episode is 'all too easy'. Very surface level - pretty much all they had to do was watch the un-destroyed camera feeds to get hints and exact names. Basement scene was pretty dumb.
Both in regards to the wheelchair doc wanting to protect the killer and that opening 1 airway across the room clears out the entire room of gas instantly.
- Gotta love when the 'military acts quickly' to build a command center in a week that there's not a bunch of wishlist items on backorder and just stuff they found in storage. Oh no... state of the art setup: brand new servers in enclosed racks, no wiring tripping hazards, big screens, desks/chairs, fancy lighting, rooms with paint jobs, and PCs all loaded with software goodies. In a week...

Hoping it gels, but definitely not Criminal Minds level. Will give it a few more episodes to see if it finds it's feet.
Episodes 8 and 9 were pretty good. Getting more intricate on how to figure things out per escapee.

Unsure where the male character's childhood sessions will come into play as part of the long story arc.

Even just ignoring Seth Rogen's grating existence, The Studio seems to be the type of show I absolutely hate. It's a show where stupid and annoying supposedly equals funny. It's not. It's just stupid. And annoying. The second episode ends it for me.

I've kept a "to watch" list from this thread for quite a while but hadn't made much progress until recently, when I've been watching 100000000% more TV by watching from the treadmill.

This morning I fired up the Netflix show "You" based on recommendations here, and while the story is good, I'm about to tap out after two episodes because of the voice-over. Does it just stay 90% voice-over throughout? I can't. (Couldn't look up what people said in here since "you" isn't a very good search.)

The first season is by far the best, IMO. Tails off badly, and I gave up. I don't remember there being a ton of the voiceover, but maybe it just didn't bother me.

Yes, I've done the same while watching Severance. It's not just multitasking, it makes you feel less guilty for "wasting time" by watching tv. Best on days with bad weather where you wouldn't be outside exercising.
I pretend I'm running through those all white Lumon hallways looking for an escape route.

I turned off ep 2 before Rogan could do whatever it was they were setting him up to do. Not quite my tempo.

Anybody watched any episodes of "Your Friends and Neighbors" with Jon Hamm, Olivia Munn and Amanda Peet on Apple+ yet? Great Rotten Tomatoes score (90%) and The Guardian had an excellent review of it.

I honestly wasn't exaggerating when I said it was 90%. But that's just the first two episodes, so maybe it gets better about that. In any case, based on your lackluster review and the idea that this was as good as it was going to get, I gave up.

That's impressive, actually. I can't watch anything that smart when on the treadmill. After bailing on "You," I switched to The Mole for a palate cleanser. :bag:

You lost me at treadmill. I'm fine with the spin bike or elliptical, but I have to do my running outside.
I watch Severance when I'm stretching after a run.

Finished Goliath last night and I generally like the whole thing but season 1 was the best. Seasons are mostly independent but looseley connected. I thought the ending of Season 2 was a bit out of character and I had felt like they got a little artsy after season 1. The Patty character was a little annoying to me at times. I would recommend watching it if you haven't yet.

the dad (I rember him as Al Capone in boardwalk empire)

Thank you, I've been trying to figure this out.

Only have watched first episode of Adolescence. Yes it's well done, but real time means it's also pretty slow at times. Not sure it hooked me.
This is how i felt too. It's a unique show, but paces and flows slowly and strangely. I think the overall body of work here makes it worth hanging in till the end, but it never really hooked me either. Like others said, it's only 4 episodes so not a huge commitment. If it were 8 episodes i might have tapped out.
I am not so sure it's worth hanging on. The other three episodes are more of the same and it's just a slow slog to get through. There really isn't anything that happens that is a must see. It kind of just ends.
Can't argue with that. It's definitely not really story driven. It's very random and slow. It makes up for that in other ways, but i get why it could be a boring slog to get through. I felt the same way for a lot of it, but the overall work was very good and upon completion when i look back i appreciate the uniqueness of it and the stellar acting. Like i said previously i probably wouldn't watch it again, but I'm glad i finished it. Definitely couldn't fault anyone for tapping though.
I get your points, but disagree generally. The "story", in terms of who-dunnit... Sure, although it kept me guessing along the way.

But it's the writing and acting about characters, time and place and relationships... All of which elevate this into much higher levels than typical show. Add in the single shot technical aspect, and it's far up there for me. But no- a linear sequence of super interesting plot driving events isn't what should be expected here.
Again i agree. If you look at my previous comments on the show it's those points that also make it worth watching and even exceptional to me. However, that said, i totally understand why people wouldn't like it or would be bored to death. It's a tricky one for me to rate. We 100% agree on what makes it good i think, but at the same time i can understand why someone else that isn't as impressed as you and I are about the filming and acting would start scrolling their phone 15 mins into episodes 2, 3, and 4.

I really hope that makes sense.

Watched all four hours tonight. I thought it was terrific.

For those commenting that it was slow or the story wasn't a whodunnit - in that sense it reminded me a lot of Rectify. The story isn't necessarily the murder itself but the questions around it. In Rectify, that question was, "Now what?" In Adolescence its, "Why?"

Both of those questions can be (and in these shows, are) much more interesting than "Who did it?"

Is it based on the Neil LaBute movie of the same name? Because that was one of the worst films I ever saw.

I enjoyed it but Labute isn't for everyone. Appreciate the heads up on the TV show

Not based on the Labute movie. Entirely different premise.

Finished "the leftovers" last night. Slipped through the cracks and i never saw it during its initial run. I thought it was pretty good. Kept me guessing right till the end. Was pretty wacky in spots, but I'm good with that. I'm ok with a lot of the mysteries left unexplained as it was more about the people and their reactions to the events than it was about the events themselves. Interesting story and well done. Also loved the soundtrack.

MobLand

Could be good. Coming to Paramount+ March 30th
Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren
Fingers crossed on this. Tom Hardy can be sooo good.

Interesting that originally it was going to be a Ray Donovan origin story but they decided to make it it's own thing instead.
Reviews (IMDB/RT) are looking good so still hopeful. Might get to this by June, a lot of stuff in queue before it.

I had put Rectify on my list based on the TV countdown thread, but your post comparing it to Adolescence (which to me was perfect TV) makes me feel even more strongly that I should watch it.

I'm watching the Netflix reboot from a couple of years ago, but if I like it (so far I do), I might go back and find the originals.

To your point, Never really got far enough into the kid to really fully delve into the "why" or the "now what". It kind of did neither.

I thought it could have been much better if it tried to go into either of them with the kid. It started to with the one episode but it didn't get there for me.

It didn't even make me really think about those questions. The "why" was fairly simple and they never did anything on the "now what". It was just a slog. The more I keep thinking about the more disappointed I am in what could have been.

I must be in the minority but thought this season of White Lotus was terrible
Definitely not terrible but I like it less than the first two seasons.* Mainly, I now know what to expect (in contrast, the first season was so interesting because I didn't know going in it was going to be a satire on the uber-wealthy) and the three women's cattiness for this season is like nails on a chalk board for me. Don't get me wrong, the addresses are killing it in their roles and I respect the idea, I just don't like watching it.

*I have NOT yet watched the finale. Kids didn't behave last night so wife and I will probably watch tonight.

Watched the 2nd episode of Mobland. It's good, but with the cast, etc., I feel like it should be much better.
It's still hard to understand some of the conversations.

Netflix had the first four seasons (the OG two hosted by a young Anderson Cooper, and two celebrity seasons hosted by Ahmad Rashad) before they launched their reboot, but they don't any longer.

Finished season 2 finale of 1923. When the first episode of season 2 aired I thought to myself if it takes the entire season for Spencer to get home I'm gonna be unhappy. Season was a slow grind. Still decent. Great cast. The 2 hour finale was magical television for me. Thought no way they wrap this season up in 2 hours. They did. It was marvelous..
