Finished Season 2 of 1923.
This season of the show was entertaining, but insanely unrealistic in so many ways. Just a little too hokie. But very entertaining and worth the watch.
I think that's what set the 1883 Series apart as being such GREAT story telling. No warm and fuzzy happy endings. Just raw struggle.

Wife and I really enjoy this series. Unrealistic? Sure. What show really isn't?

SPOILERS

Struggled to accept it took the entire season for Spencer to finally return home, but damn, that finale was nice. How I felt at the end, wrapping things up, is how I wanted White Lotus to end .

Finished up 1923 last night.

Thankfully it picked up as the season went on

Finished season 2 finale of 1923. When the first episode of season 2 aired I thought to myself if it takes the entire season for Spencer to get home I'm gonna be unhappy. Season was a slow grind. Still decent. Great cast. The 2 hour finale was magical television for me. Thought no way they wrap this season up in 2 hours. They did. It was marvelous..
Was this a season finale or series finale? I think it has to be series since they killed off the "big bad". It felt rushed in a way though. I still feel like the frostbite plotline was kinda ridiculous.
Everything I'm reading says series finale. The next step is 1944 I read. Not much actual info on it. Will the head of household be Kevin Costner dad? SPOILER, Spencer would be alive in 1944 so would he be apart of it? Don't know. All I know is even if they cast Jim Carey as the lead, I'll watch it.

Starting the final season of the handmaid's tale today. Read both books and am excited to see how they wrap this one up and move towards "the testaments". This thing has been both must see tv for me and almost unwatchable at times (some of the scenes and subject matter causes me visceral anger), but it's held my attention very well throughout. Also just finished "the leftovers" so I'm getting a double dose of Ann Dowd who I'm a big fan of 👍
She's so good in both those.
So hot.

The Pitt
Loved the series. Only negative comment I have is the unrealistic responsibilities handed to 1st year students on their first day on the job.
Interesting how the Episode 1 started with Dr Robi talking Dr Abbott off the ledge and Episode 15 ends in reverse roles.
Yeah, med students, interns, and even upper level residents would never do much of what is portrayed, nor would they be so eager/confident.

Just finished season 3 of White Lotus. I don't mean to insult the tastes of those who liked the show; I just am not very interested in the problems of rich privileged people. But at least season 3 was better than season 2, which was better than season 1.
Carrie Coon, Aimee Lou Wood, and Jason Isaacs did a good job acting (although for stretches of time the plot had Isaacs doing nothing but taking pills). But there were too many petty problems portrayed as serious problems to take the show real seriously.

Anyone have anything super positive to say about The Recruit?

I love spy/espionage stuff but can't wrap my head around the comedic undertones. Heck, it's more than just undertones... it's part-comedy, part-action/drama. It just doesn't sit right with me.

I enjoyed S1 with its "in over your head sink or swim" setup. Too much time in between S1 and S2, started S2 and felt a little disconnected so haven't continued.

What do you think about the comedic aspect? I find it distracting. I mean, it's unique in that it blends the spy/espionage genre with some silliness.... but I dunno, just not my thing. I'll keep it on the back burner for options when I'm traveling for work, but I'm not going to put it ahead of watching the new season of Andor, for example.

I didn't mind the comedic side. But some of that is my preference for the more light hearted and not getting into heavier shows lately.

And yes, Andor should be well above it on your watch list. Star Wars overrides any mood based watching.

I'm coming to a close of S2, just watching episodes as I work out so taking a while. I'm only finishing it because my OCD says to.

 I have similar OCD so I am right there with ya. If I start something, I almost always see it through, unless it's just terrible. I am honestly on the fence with this one.

FWIW, I had trouble making it through the 1st episode of season 1

I enjoyed S1 and most of S2, even though I felt it started to fall off. And when I say fall off, don't bother finishing the season... Trust me.

almost exactly the same sentiment here

Mobland I'm in
Three episodes in and I still feel like it could be much better.
Same. It's not that compelling of a storyline. I also don't get why Helen Mirren praises the kid so much. He's an idiot and she should be smart enough to see that.
I watched 1 EP. Is the idiot Stabby McStab kid? If so, having a show revolve around somebody acting so... Dumb and not the way anybody ever would, makes me hesitant to bother with the rest... Despite the great cast.

I just started True Detective season 1 (Woody and McC). I previously watched only season 4 (Alaska, Jodie Foster).
Jealous.
Why, do you need a link to find where to watch it?
No. I'd love to be able to watch it fresh. It's one of the best seasons of TV ever.
Not only have I never seen it, I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of it
Oh come on

🤷🏻‍♂️

I see it’s on Hulu. Might give it a go.
We are watching Goliath, season 3 starts tonight

I don't know where to find anything anymore, but originally, this was an HBO series and one of the best they've ever done. It's about as perfect as you can get, IMO.

First I've ever heard of anybody doing this....wow.

Season 1 some of the best TV ever made.

I didn't even finish Season 4. Utterly ridiculous.
I grew up in Alaska, and it came out when I had a streaming service it was on. Since the seasons aren't linked more than about 1%, I watched season 4 at the same time as a college buddy did so we could talk about it. I've always meant to watch season 1 since it's so highly regarded, now's the time.

Yup. Gotten to the point where HBO thinks they can slap “True Detective” on any piece of crap.

Watched first two episodes of the Pitt. Well done as everyone has said. So real it feels like a documentary almost. Will definitely continue but will be interested in how they add additional character development down the road, considering how chaotic it is….

The Challenge All-Stars: Rivals finale

Probably the 'easiest' finale for a champion show as they had a season of older and out of shape people that didn't get invited to the big 40 person extravaganza spanning 40 seasons. Had to make it doable for 40+ year olds.

Still kind of fun.
Felt real bad for the most fit guy carrying the least fit person, trying to maintain a positive attitude all season. He finally broke in the final. He's likely to be brought back in the future - possibly the only 1.

Champions won by 1 point in a photo finish on the final event (or so they made it seem, both teams seemed worried).
The team that eliminated 5 teams by themselves pulled out the win - as it should end up. Truly earned it.

Remember, this is rivals = enemies coming into the season.
Seems 3 of the 4 teams will walk away at least friendly. The fourth was a consistent - 'not a friend' after this by one side.

The winners were the eldest and had a history from 1 stealing a star from their ally entering the final 20 years ago - a true backstab to eliminate their buddy. But they worked together well this season with their backs against the wall - always fighting to stay around each week.

So the final question was posed to both in private: Split the pot OR Steal it all?
Do the right thing or backstab again/exact revenge?

They split. $125k each and can call themselves Challenge Champion.

One proposed to his woman on air (if you watch the show, it's Averey the former Hooters Girl of the Year; she just finished the season 40 all-star Eras cast). I truly wonder if he could hold his tongue long enough to let the show air. Pretty cool if he could.

Fantastic. Enjoy the ride.

You're in for some excellent television viewing. About the only flaw I could find in that series was when they dressed Cohle all in white in the hospital and propped him up to look like Jesus. Seemed strangely out of place, but didn't last long at all. Great show.
