Started Halt and Catch Fire. I'm in.

Good era and concept and I like the characters so far.
I actually just qued that up for a rewatch. Can't remember much of it but I remember really enjoying it. Anything set in that era I'm in on.
I stumbled into that one a few years back...and binged it hard. Really good- and seemingly underrated given how little people talk about it.

I remember enjoying this as well. My wife and I were watching it and we liked it. Probably made it to mid second season. Honestly can't remember why we stopped watching. Presumably, based on the year I remember watching it, we got distracted by The Queen's Gambit or something.

Squid Games 3 ... ughh. Was not good. Better than season 2 but forgettable. And I hate to say it, but I can't keep the characters apart when it moves quick. Too many have the same hairstyle.

If you like the concept of this and Hunger Games, suggest you watch Battle Royale. The modern leader when it came to the concept.

i am rewatching Miami Vice .
I forgot how cheesey it was and how bad it got in the last couple of seasons. There is so many things that i completely blanked on , like when Sheena Easton married Don Johnson for a couple of the episodes out of the blue
Hilarious. Loved that show at the time. Would prolly be a comedy today. Ha ha

What service are you watching it on?

Stremio. I have a policy that if a show is on some new streaming service I've never heard of, they can screw off with that. Already paying enough for the major ones. I have no problem going to stremio+RD for stuff like this.
I watched the first episode on prime and really like it so I was disappointed when I needed another service. Never heard of this one. Kind of hate that I have to download it. Is it going to make me download the individual movies/shows I want to watch or just the service?

I have no idea. Just get Stremio. All of these problems are solved with it.

Every new show is seemingly on a different service. And this originally aired on AMC, which I pay for via Xfinity. It should be available through that. Not using another separate streaming platform.

I liked some stuff in the start of season 2, but otherwise it was a slog. All of the characters have been so dumb.

I've got two episodes left in the current season of The Bear. And I have to ask...am I in the minority with not buying the whole Claire Bear is gorgeous narrative? I just don't see it.
Tiffany, Sugar and Jessica are all more attractive than Claire. Yet, characters in the show keep raving about Claire.

yeah, Abby Elliot and Gillian Jacobs are pretty. But 1 of those is his sister so she can't be his love interest, at least not on that channel.

Claire does it for me. I have not seen any large-scale discussion of this topic so I don't know which side is the "majority".

Abby Elliott is hotter IRL than on the show as Sugar. They are always showing her in unflattering close-ups, by design.

She’ll always be Jeanette from How I Met Your Nother to me. Not hot.

Maybe I'm the only one thinking about it. But, it just takes me out of the story (like "The Wedding" episode) when characters are raving about how gorgeous she is and I'm thinking "Who? Claire?".
They don't really do any of the actors any favors with how they dress them, hairstyles, etc. But, I guess it's supposed to give the show a grittier, more realistic look.

Not a big deal, just something that came to my mind as I watched the show.

I'm not suggesting an incestuous relationship....just better casting.

Also used to work with a girl who looked a lot like Claire. She was pretty dumb (we nicknamed her parsley because the joke was she was basically just for decoration)

Anyway then I saw that actress in animal kingdom and she was really dumb in that so now I just associate that girl with dumb ol parsely

Anyway…would

P.S. Parsley once told us she won 2nd place in a wet T-Shirt contest

Got a 3 month free Apple TV run and binging Apple stuff. Never read Isaac Asimov, but got through season 1 of Foundation. So George Lucas cribbed Asimov/Foundation in making Star Wars, right?
I just watched the first episode. It's interesting enough. I'll watch more when I get appletv . Skimmed the reviews on IMDB and a lot of people were saying that it doesn't have too much to do with Asimov's novels...would have loved to have been a fly on the wall during that pitch meeting.

so the show is Star Wars....but with math.

I really don't think Earth Abides is really that bad. Yes, it's a bit slow and yes, there are dumb things for the sake of plot (but isn't that almost every movie and tv show?) and yes. episode 2 is a little batshit crazy but I think it's a bit underrated (not by much). The message is a little heavy handed which I think may have turned off some viewers. By no stretch of the imagination is this a masterpiece but it holds pretty dismal ratings..6.2 on IMDB/63% on RT. There have only been 4 critic ratings so lets just say 75% since it doesn't show up. I'm giving this a solid 6.5 but I could be persuaded to do a 7.0. I wouldn't argue that its a "must see" but I think it is decent enough to watch.

Thats my kind of show.

Except its on Mgm.

It's funny someone brought it up, because this entire season 4 I've been thinking back to previous seasons (1-2?) where I distinctly remembered Claire as being "hot" yet in this season she is very decidedly just average to me at best. A week or so back I actually Googled to see if Claire had been replaced with another actress because it threw me off so much.

I am just finished S3 and definitely agree Claire does it for me too. Hated the cliche ending with her in S2.
She's very cute girl next door type which I like a lot. And one of the few characters I didn't want to punch.

Heading into S4, I enjoyed S2 best so far. Spent S1 hating everyone but Carmy. Overall not loving it as much as most here, not hating it. Not sure I would rewatch it once finished.

My Kid was looking for a new show so we are watching the OC (she's watching, I am rewatching and laughing). So much cheesy fun there too.

So I live in Orange County, lived in Newport for several years in and after college. Always drives me nuts that so many of the places they go and streets they drive are not there.
3 hours to TJ and you are staying overnight? Nope.
1 lane back road to Vegas? Nope.
Although because of this the kid and I went and wandered around Fashion Island and South Coast Plaza. Those are totally realistic in the show (overpriced rich people shops) so that's good.

4 is better than 3. Episode 7 is the gem. I still think Claire is hot in 4 but others seem to disagree.

Someone mentioned earlier about Homicide: Life on the Street so I started this series. I am sucker for cop shows but never watched this one when it came out
If you haven't seen The Shield do that one. I just finished it up. It is very entertaining.
I watched The Shield earlier this year for the 1st time and i agree with you on it was very entertaining

Planning a first rewatch of The Shield after I finish my 3rd rewatch of The Wire. On S4 now. So good.

Maybe it hurts my impression of Episode 7, but I was interrupted when watching it and it got split into two separate viewings. I thought it dragged and was too long.
For me the gem was Episode 9. A masterclass from Curtis and White in acting. Maybe it's heavily influenced by my current circumstances, but I loved it.

New show on MGM : The Institute - Stephen King adaptation about gifted kids and the people that want to exploit them. Only two episodes posted thus far, but seems like it might be a good watch. Lots of familiar faces. It's doing what it is looking to do in the setup - the good guys are good and we care about them, and the bad guys are bad and we want them to get what's coming to them. The kid in the lead role is lights out, I'm buying everything he's selling.

If you're looking to just have something on in the background...

Fallen (AMC+ and I think Sundance) - Based on the Fallen book series by Lauren Kate. Lots of pretty people trying to untangle mysterious goings on. Don't take it serious - it'll jerk you around and take 8 hours of your life. But if you're on an iPad or cooking and kind of half-watching it sort of works. It's like if Lindeloff wrote a Hallmark series.

I'm Out!

Countdown (Amazon Prime) - Two episodes in and I just don't care anymore. Cops who don't 'play by the rules man' are brought together on a task force to stop some bad guys from doing a bad thing. The whole thing is just lazy. Big fan of Jensen Ackles, but I'm out.

Does someone want to convince me The Bear is properly classified as a comedy.

Great show, but just because there are some funny lines does not a comedy make.
I don't consider it a comedy. There are some funny lines and moments in it, but it is more a drama vs comedy. Maybe it could be a dramedy, but I still think it's much more on the drama side. I do remember laughing when Carmy said to Richie, "Don't talk **** to me through the baby."
