The Bear season 3 drops off a cliff from the first two. Found myself scrolling phone way too much. Still like the show and would put seasons 1&2 up against almost anything but man did they lose their fastball in 3.
They left too many things unresolved, probably because they wrote and shot season 4 at the same time.

The biggest problem, too much Faks, is less of an issue in season 4.

Season 4 is amazing. The scene under the table at the wedding was so well done.
The beef between Sugar and Francie is hilarious and awesome.

For those who may be watching but are not caught up with The Institute on MGM+, I think the last 2 episodes are the best of the bunch. You may want to jump back in.

Wasn't Lazarus Project not only cancelled but cancelled after a cliffhanger season ending? That would kill it for me.
Wait, what?
Yep, it was.
Well that lowers my interest quite a bit.
Yeah…crap.
Im part way through S2. ****.
I think it ended just fine  can it go more ways with another season? sure, but it also ended in such a way that it's not really a big deal that there isn't a season 3.
I saw something about it ending on a cliffhanger?
So I’m five episodes in now. This show is bananas in the best possible ways. I’m hooked. So I’m down for whatever episodes they have available.

Darkness: Those Who Kill
all 4 seasons are on Prime Video now

I watched the first 2 seasons a couple years ago and liked it a good bit. Now that I've had time to forget it I've started it from the beginning. And wow, is the 1st season good -- very dark and creepy police drama lasting the whole season, enough plot to keep things moving along in unexpected directions, some absolutely evil characters and some moments that make you cringe, some great looking actresses.
Highly recommend.
Just finished Season 2 and wow, I forgot how good an actor Tobias Santelman is. He plays the serial killer extremely well in this one. I also liked him in Exit, Beforeigners, Grenseland, Acquitted, and Welcome to Utmark. Season 2 of this one was sold, suspense and fear built steadily. Far from perfect but still a very good show.
I've finished seasons 3 and 4 of Those Who Kill, and while both seasons fell short of Seasons 1 and especially 2 in sustained suspense/fear, they were still quite good.

Tires was enjoyable, OK fun, but to me it didn't flow and had a terrible choice for a central character --- Will. He was just not good, not close to it. Shane, Kilah, and Cal were played pretty well.
I think I've been spoiled by Letterkenny.
Tires and Corner Gas just fall so short.

Good show to watch if you're a bit inebriated. ;(

Dead Mountain
1-season Russian series
MHz Choice

Historical drama about the Dyatlov Pass Incident.
The Dyatlov Pass incident (Russian: Гибель тургруппы Дятлова, romanized: Gibel turgruppy Dyatlova, lit. 'Death of the Dyatlov Hiking Group') was an event in which nine Soviet ski hikers died in the northern Ural Mountains on 1 or 2 February 1959 under undetermined circumstances. The experienced trekking group from the Ural Polytechnical Institute, led by Igor Dyatlov [ru], had established a camp on the eastern slopes of Kholat Syakhl in the Russian SFSR of the Soviet Union. Overnight, something caused them to cut their way out of their tent and flee the campsite while inadequately dressed for the heavy snowfall and subzero temperatures.

After the group's bodies were discovered, an investigation by Soviet authorities determined that six of them had died from hypothermia while the other three had been killed by physical trauma. One victim had major skull damage, two had severe chest trauma, and another had a small crack in his skull. Four of the bodies were found lying in running water in a creek, and three of these four had damaged soft tissue of the head and face — two of the bodies had missing eyes, one had a missing tongue, and one had missing eyebrows. The investigation concluded that a "compelling natural force" had caused the deaths. Numerous theories have been put forward to account for the unexplained deaths, including animal attacks, hypothermia, an avalanche, katabatic winds, infrasound-induced panic, military involvement, or some combination of these factors.
Russia reopened an investigation into the incident in 2019, concluding in 2020 that an avalanche had most likely forced survivors to suddenly leave their camp in low-visibility conditions with inadequate clothing before ultimately dying of hypothermia. Andrey Kuryakov, deputy head of the regional prosecutor's office, stated that "It was a heroic struggle. There was no panic, but they had no chance to save themselves under the circumstances."<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyatlov_Pass_incident#cite_note-1"><span>[</span>1<span>]</span></a> A study led by scientists from EPFL and ETH Zürich, published in 2021, suggested that a type of avalanche known as a slab avalanche could explain some of the injuries.
Shot in black & white, stark contrast between the young, healthy, confident hikers from college and the utterly bleak terrain they decide to hike into. They did prepare and they had some skills, but the environment was far too hostile for them. With a bit of supernatural overtones. Does a great job of slowly building fear and utter hopelessness. Impressive show.

oh boy... I've been side-eyeing this one. but I thought Bosch was really weak, so if this isn't up to that low bar it sounds like I'll skip this one.
I thought Bosch was moderately good but Bosch: Legacy was just terribly weak. Not sure which one he was referring to.

We are halfway through Ballard

Bosch > Ballard > Legacy
Liked Bosch & Ballard. Nothing groundbreaking but good watch & it helps that the wife enjoys it to.

it reminded me of when I worked at a gas station in high school, only tires is a bit more PC. I have to disagree on Will, he's the perfect ying to shane's yang. He's got some type of disease which explains a lot about some of his mannerism's but listening to him on a podcase with shane and that group is gold because he's basically playing himself. Steve Gerbin (Will) is the one that actually wrote the concept and pilot for this back before they all became famous.

Based on your post and the number of likes it got,I guess I'm in the minority. I thought the under the table scene went too long and was contrived with so many people under there. When the Faks showed up, I was done.

Is the based on a book/short story? Don't want to be spoiled if its a book that you've maybe read but if not then I want to ask you about a plot point.

Yes, a Stephen King book. I think he’s also contributing a bit on the series. The people from From are the show runners for this.

Watched the first two episodes of Alien Earth. Great stuff so far, seems like they’ve got a huge budget. Sweet closing credit music so far too (Black Sabbath, Tool).
Best post in awhile. Haven't watched yet. Awesome news to hear positive feedback. Looking forward to this show.

Watched the new Jim Jefferies special last night. If you like him, you'll laugh. If you don't like him, why the **** would you watch it?

I saw this yesterday. I've only seen 3 of the films (the 1st two and Prometheus, the latter of which I remember almost nothing about). So, it's not like I'm up on the mythology, timelines, etc....

I thought it was really interesting, even though I felt the need to read a couple of reviews afterwards to place when these events were taking place in regards to the rest of the franchise. I think they've done a good job so far in establishing (who I think will be) the main characters & some of the themes. The cast seems good. I'll keep watching.

Most recent Dexter is very good. Love where they are going with this.
Good to know. I've been waiting patiently so I can binge it. I see there are only 4 more episodes so will probably wait until after ep9 comes out. Seems popular on IMDB as well.

I think some of the more recent Alien movies (Prometheus, Covenant, Romulus) fit together in particular points in a connected storyline.

To me, it seems AE doesn’t really matter where in the overall timeline it occurs, it’s just part of the Alien universe. I like how they add some new components and complexity to the overall universe too.

I said it in another thread, but Hawley said the thing nobody could duplicate with the xenomorph movies is learning about its lifecycle again and seeing how horrifying each stage is. So he introduced 4 more types of aliens to do that with (though I’m still unclear on what the 4th will be).

Yeah those were cool to see. There are some other unrevealed creatures still locked in their compartments.

I hear you. I'm just kind of anal about knowing when/if it is connected. I know now - based on one of the explainers I've read - which throws at least one more question at me, but I'll wait and see on that one.

I only recognized one of the cast and that took me a lot of squinting

He has the most distinctive walk, like he has no hips or something.

The first episode of Alien Earth was pretty good. I'm in for now. Welcome surprise seeing Olyphant in it.
You would think in the future they'd be able to detect a giant ship barreling towards Earth long before it crash landed.

Thanks for posting. I've been eyeing this one for the last week or so. I've been a fan of Olyphant since the Deadwood days, so I'm in!

Olyphants in it? I can definitely sell my wife on it now

We gotta wrap up Going Down On Each Other - The Hunting Wives Story first

Going Down On Each Other - The Hunting Wives Story
um what?
The Hunting Wives. It’s a Netflix show. I think @Zow mentioned it a few pages back

I reworked the title a bit. If you’ve seen the show it would make sense
Yeah... basically like a trashy romance novel on TV or something. i watched one episode and bailed. My wife said she enjoyed it though (but confirms I would not have and concedes it is not quality TV).

I thought Stick was good. I love Tin Cup so a part of me felt like it ripped Tin Cup off a bit and I didn't really like the kid/star pupil, but enjoyed it nonetheless.

Typical Apple 7/10 product. Apple is phenomenal at making good but not great shows save for Ted Lasso and Severance.
