Never even heard of these shows until my sister sent me the clip from the cold open in the first Letterkenny episode. Got 4 episodes left of Shoresy season 3 then I'll knock out Letterkenny. So good with a gummie.

enjoyed Black Rabbit but i'd call it good not great. some of the actions of the main characters just seemed unfathomable.

2 episodes in and the cast is phenomenal. Gus Fring from breaking bad? Private Pyle? Lots of great secondary casting also. Great start to a series.

Would agree. Could have shortened it by a show or two and still would have been fine, kinda dragged on in the middle but the wrap up was pretty solid.

Letterkenny is just an awesome show. Can't say enough good about it. The opening scene of Season 1 Episode 1 is tremendous, and it doesn't sag after that.

Just finished up The Residence on Netflix. Overall, the Mrs and I enjoyed it. At times it dragged, though and I felt like they could have wrapped it up in 6 episodes instead of 8.

I fell for this one as a treadmill watch and agree it could have been tighter. A bigger issue for me was that I really hated the lead character (Cordelia Cupp), and I also hated the “congressional hearing” conceit. It was clever and watchable enough, though.

what do you like about it so much? I mean, the underdog/comeback story is fine and it's hard to root against Chad so yeah. I have the impression that it would have made a tad more sense in the nfl as opposed to college but I guess the college things makes it easier although you could certainly do the same thing with him being drafted #224 and through injury and other hijinks he becomes the starter but that would cost more and you don't have the built in eligibility episode.

just to clairiify here...I'm not 100% sure on the timeline. He was a ____ @ oregon then I thought the events of this show were 3 years later. I figured that there was no NCAA age limit, just eligibility and I assumed that there will be a future episode about said eligibility but it's too much of a lighthearted show to get bogged down into the legal and moral issues of fraud if it is indeed fraud

It's pretty good. A solid 7/10 for me. Ruffalo and Pelphrey carry the show. Not much excellence outside their scenes unfortunately.

Letterkenny is phenomenal. Probably a season or two too long but just exceptional series comedy. Shoresy was a great offshoot but I thought season 4 fell short, felt like they were mailing it in.

The lackluster season 2 of Peacemaker (HBO Max) is finally over and the SERIES finale went over (IMO) like a wet fart.
There will not be a season 3, and given what we got this year, good riddance. Gunn says that the Peacemaker team will show up in the greater DCU as needed.
I can't believe the same guy was in charge of Seasons 1 and 2 - the tone of each season is completely different.
Season 1 was terrific though.

oh... figured they were leaving stuff for a S2 as needed. didn't know about another episode.
I liked it- some fantastic acting and wonderful interpersonal writing. I found the writing for the larger plot arcs kinda silly though- kept it from being as good for me as it sounds like it is for most of you guys.

Agreed on season 2. The finale was just terrible. It's a shame because I really enjoyed both the characters and world they presented in season 1.

Just watched the John Candy doc on Amazon. A great watch.
Those old Candy skits on sctv are just absolute magic. The straw size when he snorted that cocaine. Yellowbelly? Hilarious. Just some breakthrough television for the era. That cast was crazy. The weight questions from the press were just damn cringey. His peers loved him. Just seemed like a likable solid guy. Physically unhealthy for sure, but he basically worked himself until he died. Died in 1994, soooooo long ago. So young. They shut down a freeway for his funeral. RIP Mr. Candy.
Side note. Mel Brooks is still alive and kicking at 99.
Last side note. That scene in Planes Trains and Automobiles when he is on the plane with Steve Martin and he takes off his shoes and socks just absolutely kills me everytime. Hilarious.

Candy and Chevy Chase were two of my all-time favorites growing up. They humor was a different kind of humor than what you see in TV/movies today. A lot of people I talk to (some older, but especially younger) have told me that they don't find those actors to be funny. Maybe it's a generational thing... I don't know. I can watch just about anything either one of those guys did for the 1000th time and laugh like I've never seen it before. Simpler times, I guess, maybe. John Candy was the best. There is a very short list of celebrities who have passed where I can remember exactly where I was when I first heard the news. He's on that list for me. Probably near the top of that list, actually.
The documentary is on my "to watch" list, for sure.

Went into Hulu to watch Seasons 2-4. Started watching the recap of Season 1 and felt like I needed a refresher, so now I'm re-watching S1 before I move on. Very good show.

Yeah, that show is pretty twisted. They definitely took some liberties, especially with the girlfriend and the hardware store lady. And the guy’s voice is pretty irritating (think Stephen Root in Office Space), but still an engaging watch.

Since Spartacus showed up on Netflix and I'd never seen it, I'm watching it. Not sure I'm loving it though. Each season seems to be slightly worse than the previous one. They lean on the visual effects and sex pretty heavy, but it can't cover up some questionable writing and acting.

Yeah, it gets a little goofy and Sons of Anarchyish but still a decent show. I didn't mind the investment given the 7 episode miniseries. I'd probably be out if this was going 5 seasons.
Yes, she does. As do nearly every other star in the series. Katrina Law was my personal favorite

Season 1 with Andy Whitfield (RIP) was the best.
This is a pretty good description for the show. None of the other seasons villains can come close to Batiatus in season 1. John Hannah does an amazing job with the role. In the prequel season he's younger, less sure of himself as opposed to season 1 and the focus of the show starts to shift more and more to the gladiators and other slaves. The replacement actor for Andy Whitfield (RIP) also did their best in the other seasons but definitely wasn't as nearly as good as Andy.
Supposedly there is a new "What If" style season coming soon with the story told as if Ashur survived. Comes out in a few months I believe although I've been seeing ads for it for months now.
