Here's probably the most amazing statistic I've seen. Somtimes it really is good to run with the heard.Foster owners: 5878 out of 8276 are still alive (71.02% vs 55.66% overall)Non-Foster owners: 1392 out of 4785 are still alive (29.09% vs 55.66% overall) :eek:That is just crazy!Out of the 7270 survivors (including staff), 80.85% of the entries have Foster on their roster.-QG
712 out of 919 (77.5%) Dustin Keller owners are still alive.566 out of 621 (91.1%) of owners that have both are still alive.I hope these two can keep the mojo alive.
Week 7 is gonna thin the Foster/Keller combos.-QG

Phew. I can exhale now. I had THREE wide receivers on bye this week and had to take a goosegg on one. Luckily, I live to survive another day ;)

My team is baller as hell.

Looking forward to going far with it.

I think he is challenging your  edness. The only noble resolution is a battle with slide rules at 20 paces. :nerd: :coffee:Anyhow, a couple updates:436 entries with Andre Johnson and Adrian Peterson.354 had survived the first three weeks (81.19% vs 65.24% overall survival)208 survived week 4. (47.71%)Garcon, Mike Williams, Louis Murphy.393 out of 435 entries having all three were alive going into this week. This should take a hit, though the $ involved being low may shelter some of these entries.I was wrong on this one. 350 survived week 4. (80.46%)Now adding in Andre Johnson to those 3 meant a bit of troubleIf you add in Andre Johnson to the above 3 guys, you have 51 entries, of which 50 were still alive going into this week.40 of those entries survived week 4. (78.43%) which means that they were a little worse than average this week.Andre Johnson and Chris Johnson. $72 combined.587 out of 736 entries with these two guys were alive going into this weekend. 79.76%386 survived week 4. (52.45%)As an aside 29 of the original 42 entries with Rivers/Stafford/Anderson have made it to week 4 (69.05%)Just 3 of the 16 entries with Austin, Romo and Witten have survived.54 out of 126 entries with Andre Johnson/Chris Johnson/Adrian Peterson have survived week 4 (42.86%) 56 of them got eliminated in week 4.-QG

I can't get the spacing right, but the first column is roster size, the second column is Week 4 survival rate (which is the first indication of how bye week affects roster size), and the last column is overall survival rate, through four weeks. I think the data is becoming pretty clear.
Survival week to week may be becoming clearer, but the stud-heavy teams that make it through the 13 week gauntlet and get into the final 250 will have both uniqueness and studs going for them. It's a swing for the fences approach in a contest with 12,000+ contestants.

197.55 points this week.I love having WR's combosI have Bess/Marshall (This combo is money I think These two can take me far) Both guys have counted in 3 weeks a peice.I also have the TB combo that might be alright down the roadWilliams/Stroughter (Williams has been money - Stroughter I still think has some value down the line).I went with 11 WR's because of the PPR 1 pt - and that has been the best decision. I wish I would have combo Garcon/Collie as well but I just took Garcon for the upside and nothing but downside so far. I like my team but not sure how unique it really is.Rivers - Liked the schedule and the price of $19 wasn't bad. Roethlisberger - Top ten QB when he gets backBradshaw - He has turned into a stud RB - Questionable this week Spiller - Not a great pick but still is healthy and might get involved in the Offense later in the seasonFoster - Stud RB for sure - Everybody has himWashington - Dud pick but if Forsett goes down he will get some workJones - I think Jones numbers go down soon once KC starts losingScott - I just have a feeling Bensen will get hurt at some pointChoice - Not a great pick but if Dallas wants to win they will have to runTolbert - $1 well spent. He has talent and even with Matthews back he will get some touchesC. Johnson - Week 4 was an example of what he can doMarshall - PPR KingGarcon - NattaWillims - Great WR3 for my teamStroughter - ? not sure how involved in the offense he becomes but nice that him and Williams byes are overBess - PPR assistant KingMurphy - Needs to stay healthyBranch - Seattle WR's are a mess - any week one can step upCamarillo - Still think he has some value.Sanders - Injuried but when he comes back later I think he will be a nice WR for the SteelersFinneran - $1 for another player that will see the field.Finley - Huge talent that most people have rosteredScheffler - If he stays healthy should continue to put up decent numbersGronkowski - Red Zone TD guy - Hernandez is clearly the better TE for PPRBironas - Just went with kickers that had different byes and could kick long FG's. Also that played in warmer weather.SuccopJanikowski49ers - I took all 3 of the highest owned Defenses.SaintsLionsI don't really think Byes will be an issue for me team going forward I spread them all out pretty good. I think my biggest problem will be that my team is not very unique. The only think unique I would say is that I did take 30 players which might pay off when it gets harder to make the cut later in the year. I kind of wish I took another TE as well in place of my 3rd kicker.
Good team. But, on the WR combos. What are you going to do when one combo byes, the other 's QB throws 3 INTs. Seems like you are taking an equal risk to the person that just picks best values. I dont see the value in WR pairs other than Indy's Garcon and Collie - even then its costly.

Here's some fun trivia:

This team is the currently-alive team with the most points scored to date per dollar at the QB position. One QB (Orton), $12, points per dollar = 8.9.

This survivor has $0 points per dollar at QB

7.8 points per dollar at RB (best)

0.7 points per dollar at RB (worst)

5.63 points per dollar at WR (best)

1.22 points per dollar at WR (worst)

14.47 points per dollar at TE (best)

0 points per dollar at TE (worst)

At kicker, there is a big tie at the top among all the guys who have only $2 Matt Bryant. At TD, it's all the teams that only have the $2 Lions.

With all the roster size talk, has anyone posted the roster sizes of staff entries?

Proud member of the 30 player club here. :goodposting:

LOL..........here's one for you guys. Survived week 4 (170.25)..........with a grand TOTAL of 1.5 points from the WR position. :)

I'm happy to see my entry so high, but it actually makes me more nervous to be at #11 for the week than in the middle of the pack. But I guess it's still definitely better than being below the cut line on the sim.
I managed something like top 150 this week, 97.3% chance to advance. Until Arian Foster has an abysmal week where we can clear off some of the riff raff i am not gettign excited yet. I did punch in Welker, Collie, M.Williams, L.Moore, L. Murphy today to see if anyone had that exact set of WRs and no one did. I have several others but that is the main components. I have a lot of players however that are on thousands of other rosters still including those I mentioned on an individual basis. I have a feeling the later bye weeks are going to crush some folks. Week7 when Foster is out is going to be chaos.

MoP, there's not really going to be much in the way of "riff raff" that will get knocked out with a bad Arian Foster week. Over 80% of the live entries have him. He's just about become the universal constant in the contest. It's true that the vast majority of teams that cut in week 7 will have Foster, by that point simple math will dictate that as a necessity since so many guys have him.-QG

I think week 5 will be the end for me.

I was hoping Lynch would be moved, but not to Sea on a bye. I now only have Gore and Cadillac as RBs this week.

GG me

One other thing about having the least unique roster:Of the 64 entries that have all 6 of the most-owned choice at each of the 6 positions, 62 are still in the contest. That's an incredible percentage.None were eliminated in week one.None were eliminated in week two.Two were eliminated in week three. Both of these entries finished less than 1 point below the cut line. While it will be very difficult for any of these entries to break out of the pack and finish on top, it will be very very difficult for them to get knocked out of the contest. You should have a nice long run, entry number 102775  -QG
Five of these entries were eliminated this week. 57 out of 62 left (89.06% survival rate vs. 55.66% overall)Happily #102775 is one of those entries still alive. The amount each of those eliminated this week fell short by this week (a little more variety - only one was really dramatic):10.2515.5028.8512.500.35-QG

Way too premature to count yourself out. You get Cassell and Shiancoe back this week to boost your QBs and TEs. If you only had Gore and Caddy in the previous 4 weeks you will still make the cut in 3 out of the 4 weeks (and Cassell and Shiancoe missed that week). The Turkometer gives you an 82.5% chance of advancing this week. Keep your head up! -QG

 Do you happen to have what entry has come the closest to being cut each week - I guess that'd be the team with the lowest total score.

How about the team that's perhaps finished <2 points away from getting knocked out in multiple weeks?

Thanks as always oh mighty Turk

This team has the lowest cumulative score out of the remaining live teams. He just barely survived the cut in weeks 2 and 3.

With all the roster size talk, has anyone posted the roster sizes of staff entries?
Aaron Rudnicki - 30 Andy Hicks - 30 David Dodds - 30 Keith Overton - 30 Joe Bryant - 29 Bruce Henderson - 26 sigmund bloom - 26 Anthony Borbely - 25 Matt Waldman - 25 Maurile Tremblay - 24 Larry Thomas - 24 David Yudkin - 23 Jeff Tefertiller - 23Ministry of Pain - 23 Jason Wood - 23 Jene Bramel - 22 Jeff Haseley - 21 Jen Maki - 20 Will Grant - 19 Andrew Garda - 18 Jeff Pasquino - 30 (eliminated week 2)Doug Drinen - 24 (eliminated week 2)Mark Wimer - 24 (eliminated week 3)Bob Henry - 20 (eliminated week 4)

What a difference a week makes. Week 4, I was resigned to being knocked out with the bare miniimum available at each of the major positions due to byes and injuries. I somehow scraped by and this week the sim has me in the top 1000 with a 97% chance of survival. Add in Holmes and Big Ben and my power ranking jumps from th 5000's to the 1100's. Pretty sure that means the Turk gets me this week.

Ok, i get a FREE week of MOSS who i wouldnt have this week.

Already was going to be without Brady this week. This is good news.

Man i really wish i got both NE te's now.

Well I am ranked #3038 in the power rankings. Thought my team was better than that. What do you guys think of my chances? Players in gray have already had their byes.

QB: Matt Schaub, Carson Palmer, Matt Hasselbeck

RB: Michael Turner, Ryan Mathews, Ronnie Brown, Arian Foster, LaDainian Tomlinson

WR: Reggie Wayne, Jeremy Maclin, Mike Williams, Dexter McCluster, Greg Camarillo

TE: Jermaine Gresham, Aaron Hernandez

K: Ryan Longwell, Ryan Succop, Matt Bryant

D: New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs

Your WRs are a glaring weakness, imo, and week 7 in particular is going to be very difficult for you.

Here's a look at how byes/injuries are affecting teams:

QB:

300 teams will be without a scoring QB this week (assumes D.Anderson does not start, but Cutler and Delhomme do)

3223 teams have 1.

3244 teams have 2.

504 have 3+.

RB:

1 team will be without a scoring RB this week. (assumes D.Brown, McFadden and Portis don't play, while A. Bradshaw and Moreno do.)

56 will only have 1.

430 will only have 2.

1887 will have 3.

2685 will have 4.

1540 will have 5.

672 will have 6+

WR:

3 teams will be without a scoring WR this week. (Assumes a whole bunch won't play, including A.Johnson, S.Smith Car, Shipley, Garcon among others, and accounts for R.Moss trade)

46 will only have 1

373 will only have 2.

1147 willl only have 3.

2056 will only have 4.

1916 will only have 5.

1730 will have 6+.

TE:

61 teams will be without a scoring TE this week (Assumes only bye players will not play)

2052 will only have 1.

4233 will only have 2.

825 will have 3

100 will have 4+.

K:

100 teams will be without a scoring K this week.

1317 will only have 1

4128 will only have 2.

1442 will have 3.

284 will have 4+.

TD:

52 teams will be without a starting D this week.

1240 will only have 1

4484 will only have 2

1250 will only have 3

245 will have 4+

Team in worst shape:

TIE:

Entry 104684: 1 QB 4 RB 1 WR 1 TE 0 K 0 D playing this week ( only 6 of 7 will count towards total score, yes this is a 18 man roster)

and

Entry 110234: 3 QB 5 RB 0 WR 1 TE 1 K 0 D playing this week (only 6 of 10 will count towards total score, again a 18 man roster)

Team in best shape (from player's playing standpoint):

Entry 108305 4 QB 9 RB 6 WR 2 TE 4 K 3 D playing this week (total 28 out of 30 are playing this week)

Playing at less than full strength:

955 teams will score a 0 in at least 1 starter spot this week (assuming the above injured players will/will not play)

474 of these are 18 man rosters, 19 are 30 man rosters

850 of them will be missing 1

92 will be missing 2

11 will be missing 3

2 will be missing 4

Moss owners get a gift with the Vikings trade. He no longer has a bye week.

Of course, with 0 points in Week 4 you can consider that his "bye". If you're still alive.

Bradshaw and Moreno do.) 56 will only have 1. 430 will only have 2. 1887 will have 3. 2685 will have 4. 1540 will have 5. 672 will have 6+WR: 3 teams will be without a scoring WR this week. (Assumes a whole bunch won't play, including A.Johnson, S.Smith Car, Shipley, Garcon among others, and accounts for R.Moss trade) 46 will only have 1 373 will only have 2. 1147 willl only have 3. 2056 will only have 4. 1916 will only have 5. 1730 will have 6+.TE: 61 teams will be without a scoring TE this week (Assumes only bye players will not play) 2052 will only have 1. 4233 will only have 2. 825 will have 3 100 will have 4+.K: 100 teams will be without a scoring K this week. 1317 will only have 1 4128 will only have 2. 1442 will have 3. 284 will have 4+.TD: 52 teams will be without a starting D this week. 1240 will only have 1 4484 will only have 2 1250 will only have 3 245 will have 4+Team in worst shape:TIE:Entry 104684: 1 QB 4 RB 1 WR 1 TE 0 K 0 D playing this week ( only 6 of 7 will count towards total score, yes this is a 18 man roster)andEntry 110234: 3 QB 5 RB 0 WR 1 TE 1 K 0 D playing this week (only 6 of 10 will count towards total score, again a 18 man roster)Team in best shape (from player's playing standpoint):Entry 108305 4 QB 9 RB 6 WR 2 TE 4 K 3 D playing this week (total 28 out of 30 are playing this week)Playing at less than full strength:955 teams will score a 0 in at least 1 starter spot this week (assuming the above injured players will/will not play) 474 of these are 18 man rosters, 19 are 30 man rosters850 of them will be missing 192 will be missing 211 will be missing 32 will be missing 4
This is great info. I was slightly nervous with Anderson getting benched this week and only Brady as a backup, but it looks like quite a few teams will be in trouble. I survived GB's bye last year, when I only had Rodgers as a healthy QB, but I was a little more nervous this year with a lower concentration of stacked teams on bye this week. Not a great sim rating right now (a little over 80%), we'll see how things play out. I don't think I've been eliminated prior to week 11 since we went to this general format, let's hope that trend continues!

What do you guys think? Week 10 could be a little troublesome but I think i'll be alright.

Anyone looked at the sals and value now after 4 wks to see how many players they would have still picked?

My 'hindsight wk4' squad picked team today would still have 10 of my actual contest players.

QB - Rivers & Bradford

RB - Foster

WR - Welker Owens M Williams(TB) & Murphy

K - Bryant & Bironas

DT - SD

10 is prob about average and who knows what next week brings.

So far this week my wasted Spiller $17 got a small boost - there's still time he could be a useful starter b4 we're done.

1 more week left until Roethlisberger finally adds some additional QB firepower to my lineup.

It's been a bit uncomfortable rolling with just one QB for the 1st 5 weeks.

In retrospect I should have just got Orton as my 2nd QB ;)

I did seriously consider Orton, but was worried about Tebow vulturing some TDs and maybe getting playing time late in the season.
