Wow disappointing slide from #24 after week 15 to #44 after week 16 despite a reasonable 172 showing in 16. My team, 108202, is *very* similar to the winner ... had Turner instead of Bradshaw ... Calvin instead of Andre for my Johnson. Had the misfortune to pick Finley instead of Witten who got hot to end the season as the only elite TE to not get hurt. I think we had a similar mix of money allocation too.

Stafford killed me but Big Ben and Vick did just fine so I can't complain about QB ... shows how much luck helps ... if Rodgers had gotten hurt instead of Stafford the winner never would have survived the first quarter of the season.

The 3 cheap PK's and 3 cheap DT's did just fine although I should have gone even cheaper at DT and maybe taken a 4th TE.

My dad finished 196th, but he doesn't mind. He was happy to make the finals.

C'mon, man! We can get this thread to 5000!

This year a strong TE corps proved to be the difference.
so does this roster pretty much blow away the theory that you need more than 2 kicker and 2 defenses to survive? Clearly he won with cheap RBs that outprodcued, a great combo at TE and solid yet unspectatular WRs after the 1 uber stud

I don't think so. I still think you need 3 kickers and 3 defenses. The winner had the #1 kicker, and when Janikowski didn't have a good game, Graham had one to bail him out. Worked for him this time. You can get away with 2 defenses a little more due to the lower scoring and smaller amount of big games, but still getting 3 cheap defenses is a better strategy. You have to gamble somewhere. Winner gambled at the K and D position and did well.

was in the top 15 after week 15, but my team crapped the bed in week 16 and I dropped into the 30's. a crappy game by Rivers and Andre Johnson not playing sunk me.

Congrats to the winner!

Would have scored 562.3 for 21st place had I not crapped out in week 11. Love that Tebow would have finally counted for me in Week 16, LOL.

Great contest as always DD! Thanks!

Here is my fifth place team for comparitive purposes...

Missed on Scheffler, damn I wish I had Pettigrew.

Next year I will strongly consider a 3rd QB as losing Stafford early hurt me...thank you Brady, you saved me from elimination with that 40.60 effort in week 13, needed 38.8

MIssed the boat entirely on MIke Williams...other than that loved my roster....very strong RB corp.

Congratulations all you winners.

I came in at 139 with my entry 107709. It was my first year and I had a lot more fun with the contest than I thought I would.

If not for a few key injuries I think I could have finished in the upper echelon but when Gore went down I knew I had it comming.

Then Rodgers and Andre Johnson.. And Arian Foster etc etc. You know the drill and many of you were probably in the same boat.

For next year, I would really consider like three kickers and three defenses since they come pretty cheap.

Over and out form me, and again congratulations all you winners, especially 104238.

Joe would have likely had a top 10 entry had he not went without a QB in weeks 14 and 15 (Rodgers and Orton)

Good luck to those sweating the final results and congrats to the winners. Very interested in how it all ends up.Kudos to the Turk :lmao: for magnificent work as always!586.85 woulda been my final number. Definitely have a lot to ponder and work on when thinking about next year's entry. My only wish is that we woulda made 100 pages in the thread*-QG* - and to have finished first ;)
:goodposting: 486.85 woulda been my final number NOT 586.85. I'd be safely outta the top-150 even. At least I don't work with numbers or anything...Loving the post-game analysis and looking forward to more  -QG

Finished at 132, like almost half of the finalists, Rodgers killed me. Had zero other QBs for the finals as Stafford and Anderson where my other choices. Had a blast though!

How many top 25 teams didn't have Witten? The more and more I think about it he was the lottery ticket elite TE that carried owners that went with him. I doubt owners could have taken Witten, Finley, and Gates and survived for example they just happened to pick the one that didn't get hurt.

Congratulations to the winners!!!

And kudos to FBG for just an incredible game. Worth the price of the subscription by itself.

Can't wait for this next year!

This was real fun. I did this sat year, not paying much attention. I got elimated in week 12 by about 5 points. If I hang on to the Top 250' I'd have finished 5th. Oh well. Congrats to all those who posted in the money.

I had Witten and Finley and finished in the top 50.It would have been interesting if I had had Finley for the final weeks - but injuries are luck of the draw.Your point is well taken - Witten was golden this year.

Remember our discussion (somewhere back in the wee early pages) on roster sizes? Here's some stats:

Table Breakdown (Size - # in 250 (Percent) - Avg Pts Scored for Roster size

[*]18 - 53 (21.2%) - 483.22

[*]19 - 28 (11.2%) - 473.24

[*]20 - 22 (8.8%) - 508.70

[*]21 - 16 (6.4%) - 507.24

[*]22 - 21 (8.4%) - 525.71

[*]23 - 19 (7.6%) - 512.65

[*]24 - 16 (6.4%) - 493.06

[*]25 - 19 (7.6%) - 521.83

[*]26 - 13 (5.2%) - 494.18

[*]27 - 8 (3.2%) - 489.33

[*]28 - 12 (4.8%) - 513.75

[*]29 - 5 (6.4%) - 539.82

[*]30 - 19 (2.0%) - 527.47

So, as a brief reminder from way earlier. I believe 18 and 19 man rosters comprised of almost 46% of the total entries, so they have a higher proportion in the playoffs. As many of us speculated due to variability, the larger rosters (by average) outscored the smaller rosters consistently.

But of course, we have outliers, so here is a look at how folks have finished:

Roster Size - Top 10 - Top 25 - Top 50 - Top 100 - Percent of roster size that survived that made the top 100:

[*]18 - 2 - 3 - 5 - 15 (28% of 18-man rosters made the top 100)

[*]19 - 0 - 0 - 1 - 4 (14%)

[*]20 - 1 - 3 - 6 - 8 (36%)

[*]21 - 0 - 2 - 3 - 8 (50%)

[*]22 - 2 - 5 - 8 - 12 (55%)

[*]23 - 0 - 0 - 3 - 10 (53%)

[*]24 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 4 (25%)

[*]25 - 1 - 3 - 7 - 12 (63%)

[*]26 - 0 - 1 - 4 - 5 (38%)

[*]27 - 0 - 1 - 1 - 3 (38%)

[*]28 - 1 - 2 - 2 - 6 (50%)

[*]29 - 1 - 2 - 2 - 3 (60%)

[*]30 - 1 - 2 - 7 - 10 (53%)

Staggering isn't it? Rosters with sizes of 18 and 19 players were down around 28% - 14%, whereas if you had a larger roster you had almost (and sometimes over) a 50/50 shot of being in the top 100. Even at the Top 10 (if you run the percentages), the larger rosters still win.

So the Myth that smaller rosters with a bunch of studs is better, is definitely that... a myth. BUSTED! Larger rosters win out again.

[*]19 - 0 - 0 - 1 - 4 (14%)

[*]20 - 1 - 3 - 6 - 8 (36%)

[*]21 - 0 - 2 - 3 - 8 (50%)

[*]22 - 2 - 5 - 8 - 12 (55%)

Ha! That's just one year that that's proven. You'll see! Next year the 18-man rosters will come back and rule the world! And your little dog too!

Yeah, I am going with an 18 man roster, so I can eat my cake if I make it that far.

I had planned to go with both Gronk and Hernandez along with Finley but then backed off at the last second...whoops

I came in 25th and didn't have him. Zach Miller and Gronkowski were big for me Week 16.But if I had Witten just for Week 15 alone it would have bumped me from 25th up to 6th.

4th place, I had Witten, Winslow, and Hernandez. I got my flex score from my TEs most weeks.

Finished in 49th and had Witten, Watson, and Pettigrew at TE.....they were $$ for me this year. Losing Gore and Orton didn't help down the stretch.

I think what's really needed right now is to start making fun of the 24 man roster guys.

History is doomed to repeat itself... We should start a thread on why 18-man rosters make sense... Then we'll see the same 25-30 man rosters next year... basically those of us who have followed this thread all season :lmao:

What a difference a week makes. What is Rodgers has his one TD game last week instead of this week?

When does the playoff contest start?

Glad Week 17 doesn't count. My bunch woulda had 104.45 (and Bernard Scott with his mighty 4.60 woulda finally counted).

Looking out for the playoff contest too

Umm, when do we get paid??

Haven't seen an email yet, but I figure there's always the chance it will hit the spambox.

I read thru the last few pages of the thread, sorry if I missed it.

Could be a non-payout state.

Pretty sure Wisconsin and Minnesota are payout states...either way I should be getting a response from the Guys. My brother is Minny and my buddy is in Wisconsin and we team up in a bunch of national contests and depending on the rules we make sure whichever one of us signs up our team he is eligible to win based on the rules regarding the specific states. After we pay any applicable taxes we split the winnings. In this case 30 bucks is minimal...and maybe FBG's has me down for a non-payout state as I've moved several times...just looking for an explanation. All three of us troll this board constantly and have subscribed since it converted from Cheatsheets.com and this is the only time I've had anything close to a complaint...so it's all good. I'm sure I will hear from them soon enough.

Anyone know where you can find the player values from last year?
There was definitely a link to the original values somewhere in this big ol' thread. STAFF - You should let subscribers buy additional entries this year for $15 or something. This would increase the prize pool.

Still alive after week ten, two years in a row! I've been doing this since about 2006 (or maybe since whenever they started doing it,) but I know it gets a lot tougher from here. Only the top 250 after week 14? YIKES. Maybe because I broke the seal on posting here this year, I've already doomed myself? We'll see, but at any rate, just a bonus for subscribers to this great site.

How I am still in it is beyond me.

QB - Kaepernick, Romo

RB - Spiller, R Bush, Vereen, Redman, Powell, R Brown

WR - Marshall, Bowe, Givens, Hartline, V Brown, Douglas, Thompkins

TE - Witten, Housler, D Walker, Cumberland

K - Vinateri, Henery, Crosby

D - NYJ, DET, CAR

This team isn't that good. I have big busts in Spiller, Bowe, Givens, Redman and V Brown, Witten is a mild bust (pretty inconsistent), Vereen got injured, I missed on the key TE value....picked the wrong cheap TEs (but Walker saved me this week). I have been lucky that my QB production has been good, despite Kaepernick's inconsistency.

The last 5 weeks I am between 7-20 points over the cutoff. If I can somehow get past this week with Romo and Witten on bye, I may have a shot at the final 250. Vereen comes back, Bowe has DEN 2x, and Douglas is now a key contributor.

But I won't hold my breath.
