Subscriber Playoff Contest is LIVE (2 Viewers)

The last several years the general "rules" for roster strategy were pretty straight forward and basic. The super high pricing this year changes some of those "rules" although I don't think it changes the most basic, which you can gleam by reading the rules. I generally have liked this contest better than the regular season contest in the past, but I'm not sure that's still true this season. At least in my opinion. Should be very interesting to see the results.

After some agony over making a massive late change, I stayed pat with what I had last night.

QB - A Rodgers GB

RB - E Lacy GB

RB - J Starks GB

WR - R Cobb GB

WR - D Adams GB

TE - R Rodgers GB

PK - M Crosby GB

TD - Green Bay

QB - P Manning DEN

RB - CJ Anderson DEN

RB - R Hillman DEN

TE - J Thomas DEN

RB - J Gray NE

WR - D Amendola NE

RB - R Turbin SEA

TE - L Willson SEA

QB - J Flacco BAL

WR - T Smith BAL

RB - J Bell DET

TE - D Fells ARI

Hated seeing that target to E Dickson just now as I actually think the Panthers are going to win today. I think there will be a low cut number with 0 a possibility. Taking Fells was a little bit of a chicken-out move I think. I like the Ravens chances tonight. I think Cincy/Indy is going to be low-scoring. Very hard to do a scenario with Pittsburgh guys with Bell's status - covering the bases costs too much. Though my next post will show my woulda/coulda/shoulda scenario where I woulda gone GB/NE instead. I imagine if somehow it ends up being BAL/GB I might have a shot as well.

I eschewed Dallas players in part b/c of the fact that I have Green Bay basically winning it all and the expense of the players.

Seems like I went with more QBs than most - but I think if I'm in the final round that'll be a huge advantage. Also the scoring in this contest is a little different than the regular season contest.

Should be fun :boxing:

finished 50ish in the regular season contest...here goes the playoff roster. i know Bell is out but i bought him for next week. hoping for low cut line week 1

Tom Brady $33 0.00
LeGarrette Blount $13 0.00
Jonas Gray $2 0.00
Julian Edelman $15 0.00
Rob Gronkowski $30 0.00

C.J. Anderson $20 0.00
Ronnie Hillman $4 0.00

LeVeon Bell $14 0.00

Russell Wilson $34 0.00
Marshawn Lynch $22 0.00
Christine Michael $2 0.00
Luke Willson $9 0.00
Steve Hauschka $12 0.00

Mason Crosby $13 0.00

DeMarco Murray $23 0.00

DeAngelo Williams $4 0.00

Really considered only going Stafford and then grabbing Luke W or Turbin/Helfet and another guy but chickened out at end.

Jonas Gray $2 0.00
Stephen Gostkowski $15 0.00

Peyton Manning $29 0.00
C.J. Anderson $20 0.00
Ronnie Hillman $4 0.00
Demaryius Thomas $23 0.00
Emmanuel Sanders $20 0.00
Connor Barth $13 0.00
Denver Broncos $12 0.00

Russell Wilson $34 0.00
Marshawn Lynch $22 0.00
Christine Michael $2 0.00
Steve Hauschka $12 0.00
Seattle Seahawks $16 0.00

Larry Fitzgerald $9 0.00

Matthew Stafford $17 0.00

Dang it shoulda gone Whittaker/Dickson instead of Fells. Hate that I just saw that cost combo now.

Comparable percentile to 4000/4710 for last year would be 3521st place as cut line. That would be 73.35 :scared:

Feel a little bit better have gone with Flacco/Smith rather than Brown/Wheaton - higher possibility of getting a bigger total number with the former.

Overall though based on this info I went too thin :(

-QG

Same percentile method with contest one year ago: 73.35

Same percentile method with contest two years ago: 60.15

Same percentile method with contest three years ago: 65.90

Same percentile method with contest four years ago: 66.20

Same percentile method with contest five years ago: 74.70

So with that the range for the cut probably will be something like 60 to 75 based on past history. :scared:

-QG

ETA last year with the others.

Notice the trend of that number dropping? I think more people are figuring out the rules and it will lower scores this week.

Tony Romo

Dez Bryant

Joseph Randle

Jason Witten

Dan Bailey

Tom Brady

LeGarrette Blount

Shane Vereen

Jonas Gray

Rob Gronkowski

Ronnie Hillman

Juwan Thompson

Paul Richardson

Richard Rodgers

Philly Brown

Ed Dickson

Dallas/New England Super Bowl. Had another Patriot but traded him out for Hillman/Thompson. Panthers, Cowboys, Steelers win this weekend I will be looking good for next rounds. 61.6 points this week by FBG projections. Hopefully enough

I was guessing that GB Denver wouldn't get much love.Probably guessed wrong as usual and on top of that not sure I have enough scoring power to get through the first week.

Clicking on some random rosters, i dont think people are figuring out the rules. I saw a couple rosters with 2 players from 8 teams.

Obviously you need to get players that end up in the SB. Part of the issue is that over the past 20 years, teams that had a bye made it to the SB 72.5% of the time. So 29 of the 40 teams that made it to the SB were a 1 or a 2 seed.

No matter what, you need to have the right team or teams in the SB, or you aren't going to win.

IMO, that leaves either of two strategy options: Load up on players from one or two bye teams that you think will make it to the SB with just enough players from players in the first two rounds and hope you get to the last week. The issue with loading up on bye week teams is not making it to the divisional round.

- OR -

Load up on players from a wild card round team and a bye week team that you have meeting in the SB. That's what I did this year . . .

Tom Brady - $33
LeGarrette Blount - $13
Shane Vereen - $10
Jonas Gray - $2
Julian Edelman - $15
Rob Gronkowski - $30

Antonio Brown - $25

Tony Romo - $32
DeMarco Murray - $23
Dez Bryant - $28
Terrance Williams - $12

Kelvin Benjamin - $16
Carolina Panthers - $11

Betting on a NE/GB Super Bowl...

QB Aaron Rodgers

RB Eddie Lacy

WR Jordy Nelson

WR Randall Cobb

K Mason Crosby

Green Bay Defense

QB Tom Brady

TE Rob Gronkowski

WR T.Y Hilton

TE Coby Fleener

RB DeMarco Murray

TE Jason Witten

Went with the NE / Dallas Super Bowl mostly because I though people would be heavy on Seattle.

Tom Brady $33 0.00

LeGarrette Blount $13 0.00
Shane Vereen $10 0.00
Brandon Bolden $2 0.00
Jonas Gray $2 0.00
Brandon LaFell $20 0.00
Julian Edelman $15 0.00
Danny Amendola $6 0.00

Couldn't afford Gronk so I grabbed the trash hoping the RBs outproduce him.

Ronnie Hillman $4 0.00
Juwan Thompson $2 0.00

Seemed like cheap points to inch above a cutoff line.

Jeremy Hill $13 0.00
Mohamed Sanu $8 0.00

Sanu was a bargain with Green out. Seems like a coin flip game with Indy.

Robert Turbin $4 0.00
Paul Richardson $10 0.00

Some cheap production for rounds 3/4

Tony Romo $32 0.00
DeMarco Murray $23 0.00
Joseph Randle $6 0.00
Dez Bryant $28 0.00

Kerwynn Williams $8 0.00
Michael Floyd $10 0.00

Cheap points for this week and I thought Arizona might pull an upset.

Hoping not too many took Patriots/Panthers.

Hoping more that I guessed right.
Fun way to play it. -QG
Thanks, but not looking smart right now. 18

Even if Carolina wins it may hinge on Smitty taking you to next week.

Obviously there will be hundreds that will have no chance to win it and some will get to the Super Bowl round. Getting there and getting there with the right teams players is the hard part

Yeah, the last minute error of taking out Sanu might kill me. Think I took him out for Quarless then didn't get my change of brown/Kuhn for Sanu in. Shouldn't do this by phone.
