Summerpalooza V -- Playoffs Over -- Eephus Is Now Two-Time Summerpalooza Champion (4 Viewers)

Glad I bailed on this league this year, this has been the most frustrating season I think I've ever had. A couple weeks ago in my 12 team league I had 9 guys out due to injury or bye. Picked 2 guys off waivers(TE Johnson RB Foreman) just to field a lineup and somehow got high of the week and my 3rd win, lol.
Who's in the lead and what's their record?
ilove80s is in the lead with an 8-2 record.

This past Friday I went out of town to visit a friend for the weekend. Her dog is very sweet, but it jumps on you when you walk in the door when she hasn't seen you in awhile. She jumps up on the guest a couple times like she is on a pogo stick, and then she doesn't jump on the guest again for the rest of the stay. Anyway, I walked in the door and she jumped on me in excitement, and her super long nails tore through the skin on my arm. It bled like crazy for a long time. I washed it with soap and warm water, and put some Neosporin on it. My friend said her dog's nails were long, because she is overdue to have them cut at the vet. Apparently, the dog has to be put under anesthesia at the vet to have her nails cut, because the nail clippers freak her out.

Yesterday, I thought my arm looked a bit swollen, but I wasn't sure. Today it was slightly warm, so I went to the walk-in clinic around 4 to have it looked at. The Dr said it is infected, and he prescribed me an antibiotic called Cefadroxil, and he said that should take care of it. I had my last tetanus shot in 2019, so I'm good there. This is what my arm looks like now, which is better than it looked over the weekend. I'm still waiting for the prescription to be filled. I hope she gets her dog a manicure soon. The dog's nails are like the late great Flo-Jo's nails.

Having a great season but IR is starting to add up. Chase and now Goedert. It might catch up with me. So much of a 16 team league is just getting injury luck.

Be vigilant about this, simey, and advocate for yourself. I had a bacterial infection of my arm in 2015, and they were sending me home with a mere antibiotic at first. My arm turned red, and I had to advocate for a bed in the hospital. By the time I got one, it wound up turning crimson and then nearly purple before they put me on tubes of IV antibiotics. Those didn't work, so I had to break out the serious guns and go on Orbactiv (a three thousand dollar tube of antibiotics) that finally knocked it out. I also got cellulitis from a flu shot six years later, so it can linger and flare up again. Bacterial infections are no joke and can lead to loss of limb and even sepsis.

I have to watch out for those now, too.

Be well, friend.

:oI didn't know Goedert went on IR today.
Well maybe not IR, I thought we had a 2nd spot but we don't. No exact timetable yet but what I saw today was shoulder injury, will miss "extended time".

Jesus. That's awful.

I just got back with my antibiotics. When the Dr said it was infected, I asked him if I was going to get sepsis. Of course he said no, that the antibiotics will help it. I'm paranoid about getting sepsis, because my Uncle Bill died of that after he got an appendectomy. I should have had my arm looked at yesterday, but my schedule was thrown off course from some unforeseen circumstances, but I still could have made an effort to get it looked at. Today I was more unsure about how it was doing, and so I had a Dr check it out. Hopefully this Cefadroxil with take care of it.

Hope it works and you feel better. Make sure to get it checked out right away if it feels worse, drop any other plans! Take care.

Despite being one of the 4-6 teams, I may need to see about dumping (it's a keep-4 league), as I am 1-5 in my last 6 and this week lost Kupp, Ertz and K. Herbert (plus J. Herbert has kind of sucked since his rib injury.)
I let the league know I might be willing to trade my best non-keepers for keepers. We use a $250 cap.

I got four offers, everyone wants Barkley (too expensive to keep). Two of them I rejected. The other two I am considering. The main component of one is Isiah Pacheco ($10 to keep next year). The main component of the other is Rachaad White ($9 to keep next year). Any thoughts?

That sucks! :(. Definitely looks infected in that pic- hopefully everything turns out ok!

Good luck. Tell your friend to at least walk her dog on sidewalks or the street to dull those nails a bit.

Fun fact: The "correct" version has normal lead singer Robert "Stewkey" Antoni on lead vocals. The CD of Nazz III that I bought in the early '90s had this song with Todd on lead vocals. It wasn't until many years later that I learned this was in fact an alternate version and whoever pressed the early '90s CDs put the "wrong" version of Only One Winner on them.

My friend mentioned that she usually walks her dog on the pavement and that helps file her nails, but her knee has gotten worse, and she said walking in the grass or dirt makes the pressure not as bad on her knee. She has needed a knee replacement for years.

She is a college friend, and back in the 80s we were at a Grateful Dead concert, and if you have been to one, you know there is "Shakedown Street" prior to the show (which is like a flea market and big tailgate party). There was a roped off section of the parking lot, and she saw a nitrous balloon seller that had one balloon left, and she ran to go over to the seller and leaped over the rope, but her back foot hit the rope, and she landed on the concrete knee first. She has had knee problems since, and it has gotten progressively worse over the years. She also has Hashimotos (thyroid disease), and that adds to her weight issues, and weight on that knee makes it worse.

Anyway, I told her walk in the grass beside the sidewalk in the neighborhood, park, or greenway, and let the dog be on the cement part. I think that went in one ear and out the other. I took the dog on long walks when I was there, and we were on the pavement the whole time. When her dog walks, it looks like she is somewhat walking sideways. She loves going on walks, although she is a bad girl when she sees squirrels, cats, people on bikes, or other dogs.

Yes, I've been to about 30 Grateful Deal shows - all local, never "toured" with them.

Funny - I had a friend (r.i.p.) that after sucking down a nitrous balloon in the parking lot fell down face first and busted up his chin to the point a paramedic had to take him to the hospital to get him stitched up. Apparently he "bribed" the paramedic to drive him back to Giants Stadium after by offering to smoke a joint with him on the way.

We saw him during the break in between sets - that was his story at least.

On my 24th birthday, there wasn't a lot going on, I had a little gathering with just three other good friends but we were looking for something to do and my one friend's sister was also having a little party, so we decided to combine the two at their house and it was a good time. There were some nice people there and a girl I was getting along well with but we decided to go out to a club.

Before it was time to leave I thought it was a good idea to have a couple extra very strong crown royals (my drink at the time, I don't really drink liquor any more) to get the party started, then me and my friends walked while the others drove down. About 50 feet from the bar, I faceplanted and busted open my chin. It bled horribly. I was convinced I could still get into the bar though (I could not, the bouncers laughed loudly in my face, I also needed a couple stitches). My one friend took me home where my parents thought I'd gotten into a fight. Nope just with the pavement.

The next day I met the girl who's sister it was and she said I made a good impression on the girl who I had been chatting with earlier but never got to meet downtown that night. Her and I went on a date a couple weeks later. My birthday was August 25, the first date was September 17. I remember the date because it's a good friends birthday.

And also, because a year after that were engaged, 22 months after that married and yes this is the story of the night I met Mrs. NV, 15 years ago.

Hunter Henry TE NE - Don't Look Back - Boston
I heard this song the other day on the radio, and I wondered if it was on someone's favorite 31 list. I love the buildup in the song right before it blast into the guitar solo.
I definitely think it is solidly their second best track. Most excellent title tune.
It's the one song on the second album that is every bit as good as the incredible stuff on the first.

Kendall Hinton - WR - Broncos

Blue Rodeo - Rose Coloured Glasses

Because Hinton is one of the rare players who wears glasses in his official league portrait. The funny thing is he doesn't wear goggles on the field a la Eric Dickerson or Joe Lavender.

We are hosting NV's Kids From Yesterday here at the Persian Palace aka Purrsian Palace. Jasper, the Palace manager and selfie king, texted me this today.
Unfortunately a bunch of yesterday's kids took a beating last week and now Ertz is out for the year, Hardman is out at least 4 weeks and JuJu who knows but is out this week, but we will persevere.

When it rains it pours. You have a nice lead over me right now. I have Derrick Henry in my other league, and last night I was excited that he did well. After the game, I wondered if you played anyone against me in our league, and I went to check and totally forgot you had Henry, and I said to myself, "****!" According to Yahoo, you are 57% favored to win.

Akins/Achy. Aw c'mon. It's close. If it's not close enough for you, do what BRC said to do at the CMTs the year that Achy Breaky was sweeping Nashville and had loads of critics. He said to "[find a] quarter and call someone who cares."

DeShaun Watson - QB - CLE

Radio 4/Deshaun is number four.

Sorry your subscriber contest got wiped, simey. Week 11 is a long time to last. A bunch of people who participate in the subscriber thread over in the Shark Pool got wiped, too. Their "Turk" came for them, and they were swept away with all the other poor souls (like myself in Week 8).
