In Canales We Trust
Don't you live in Wilmington? I'd love to have some Indochine right about now.
That is some strong notebooking. I’m not really a panthers fan, just knew they were on regular tv tonight so figured I would watch it, but ended up going out instead.

Indochine is pretty great though always very crowded and I never think of it for takeout, but I will get it soon in your honor
I got indochine last weekend and a story came out today that they filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy. They say they are reorganizing and will stay open, but I guess we will see…

😮 Indochine is always packed inside. I was just reading about it and the company that owns Indochine also owns Indochine Express and Café Chinois, and there is an Indochine Express in Leland and Southport, too. They say it relates to loans through the U.S. Small Business Administration, and as you said they are reorganizing and will stay open. I wonder if these Express spinoffs didn't do as well as they thought. Hopefully the original Indochine will be fine. I love that place. I texted my friend that lives there about it, and she said she was just reading about it. It's a tradition that we always go there when I visit.

Jalen Coker - WR - Carolina

Thelonious Monk - "Carolina Moon"

Today would have been Monk's 107th birthday so I'm going with one of his early recordings for Blue Note from the late 40s.

I read a good piece today on Monk's entire recorded output written by the fine pianist and critic Ethan Iverson which made me want to go explore his catalog further. Jalen Coker is merely the vessel.

I was just talking about Monk last week. I was talking to my mom, and she mentioned a tornado that went through Rocky Mount during Helene. She asked where Rocky Mount was, and I told her about 40 miles outside Raleigh going down 64 east towards Greenville. I told her it is where Thelonious Monk is from. She said, "Who," and I gave her a short summary on Monk. She is a Julie London fan, and I told her Monk composed 'Round Midnight, which is on one of the Julie London albums (Around Midnight) my mom had when we were growing up.

...and that's how I ended up listening to Julie London singing "'Round Midnight" at 8:30 in the morning.

Also London's version of "You Stepped Out of a Dream" ends with the vibes and piano players quoting the melody of Monk's "Well, You Needn't"

Added Ty Johnson, RB, Bills

My RB situation looking bleak this week with Stevenson out, and Cook and Warren questionable.

Robert Johnson - Stop Breakin’ Down Blues

Yeah Cafe chinois is really good. I hit that sometimes if I go to the brewery in the same complex. Indochine express is ok, though I’m not sure if I realized there was one in Leland and Southport. Of course, no one can get to Southport anymore.

(a better song than deserve)

Does yahoo have the thing where you can drop players even if they have played as long as you didn’t start them?

You learn something new every day

This week, in both of my money leagues, I was lowest scorer and faced the highest scorer.

I did better in this league.

I was third-lowest scorer and faced the highest scorer.

We finally got a W. :towelwave:

We aren't as bad as our record shows. We have the most points scored against us in the league. We have 752.78 PA, and the team in first place has 593.88 PA. We are 6th in most points scored (PF).

Maybe we will wreck the hopes and dreams of some of the teams trying to make the playoffs. Beware! :football:

Congrats to Coach simey, who made the brilliant suggestion for us to switch Lazard into our lineup at the last minute! Her reasoning: we paid big fake waiver wire money for him, and with Adams likely to land on the Jets we'd might as well give him some playing time now. Her move won us the game after Barkley and Prescott in particular **** the bed. Woo-hoo!

Added Demario Douglas, WR, Patriots. Played college football for the Liberty Flames

Flamin’ Groovies - Shake Some Action

Add

Brandon McManus - K - Packers

David "Fathead" Newman - "Ain't Misbehavin'"

Newman's beautiful down tempo version of the Fats Waller classic is too good for McManus but I needed a kicker. Newman is better known for his years as a sideman for Ray Charles and his Soul Jazz records but he excels here in a more straightahead setting.

added Zach Ertz - TE Was
Thievery Corporation - Lebanese Blonde
is he lebanese?
I think Thievery Corporation from Washington, DC.
Oh yeah, that’s right. I have this in
My liked songs on Spotify and it came up in shuffle tonight…

Added Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Eagles
Played college football at Memphis. So, the choice between Memphis Soul and Philadelphia Soul. I’ll go with Memphis and the color he currently wears.

Booker T. & The M.G.’s - Green Onions

Add

Jameis Winston - QB - Browns

Buddy Collette - "Winston Walks"

Collette is a key figure in the history of LA jazz. He was the guy who suggested Charles Mingus switch instruments to bass, which was the beginning of a lifelong friendship. He also helped to integrate the local Musicians Union in the early 50s which led to Black musicians getting studio and soundtrack gigs.

This recording from 1957 features Collette on flute.
