I think the Pats only chance at winning is on the ground on offense. That secondary is faster than anything Brady's seen all year. You can't practice for speed.

Can NE run the ball on Seattle? The Seahawks are the lightest team in the league, and the Patriots have no issue with ramming Blount down their throats if it's the path to glory.

Can the Patriots stop Seattle's offense? They generally fare pretty good against the run--then again that effort against Baltimore was awful.

Can they stop Wilson? Green Bay just did, and that defense is nothing special. NE have certainly mastered the art of the 'controlled rush', where they never actually get any sacks but they do keep the QB contained. If Seattle can't get playaction going, and are forced to rely on precision passing from Wilson, they'll be in rough shape.

I dunno, seems to be a minority opinion on here but I like the Patriots' chances.
How did GB "just stop" Wilson? He killed them in just a few minutes.

ETA: if anything came out of this game, Rodgers is totally overrated, can't overcome adversity like Wilson had, and this was a QB game. I think Wilson can stand up to Brady and play all 4 quarters and then some. Wilson was like Joe Montana today. His team never stopped playing for him, unlike GB did under Rodgers.

FYI, Russ Wilson is a career 0-6 (including playoffs) when teams put up >24 on him...but that's only what, 6 times in 55 career games.
I wish he would have played better defense in those game.
I think the point was that Wilson has a great defense and doesn't need to score a lot of points.I'm just happy to see the Pats be able to end the season with a healthy Gronk as he makes a huge difference, even when he's simply drawing double coverage. I'll be surprised if a Pats team with a healthy Gronk only puts up 20.
Seattle will game plan differently against an elite TE. Last year they held Graham to 4/50...and that's his combined catches/yardage for 2 games.

Graham is really a WR, he rarely lines up as a traditional TE. Regardless, Gronk is probably the single most important player whose performance will most directly affect outcome of game.

Collins spies wilson. Browner plus safety on kearse. Revis takes baldwin away (revis is a real corner who plays botg sides of the field). Defense keys on lynch. Wilson throws 3 picks to brady's two. Pats 28 hawks 20.

SEA can't stop the run and their offense lacks playmakers against a good defense. GB proved it already, Patriots will have a better game plan, better coaching and better execution in two weeks. Is Baldwin going to go off on Revis? No. Patriots will contain Lynch with strong LB play and their front 7, and these average Kearses will have to make plays..which most likely won't happen against the Patriots secondary.

Gonna be a long night.
Fixed it for ya :)

DD is going to own this thread. Given his admitted hatred towards Boston fans, this thread will be great (as will the actual game).

Seattle is very vulnerable with their mediocre offense. And their D isn't what it was last year. The D simply can't carry them anymore. Wilson is what he is. A fantastic athlete & a so-so passer.

New England can certainly be beat, but in today's NFL, I'll take offense over defense any day. I think the Pats will likely win, but the teams are close enough it could go either way.

Lacy rushed for 3.5 ypc yesterday and Wilson had by far his worst game of his career.

He threw 6 int all season before throwing 4 yesterday. To me that is an aberration.

Seattle wins 24-21 BUT if Thomas and/or Sherman cannot play for some reason then I say 24-21 Patriots.

NE can't stop the run and their offense lacks playmakers against a superior defense. Ravens proved it already, Seahawks will have a better game plan and better execution in two weeks. Is Julian Edleman going to go off on Sherman? No. Seahawks will push coverage to Gronk with strong LB play and Kam, and these average Amendolas will have to make plays.

Gonna be a long night.
The Ravens proved it by literally letting the Pats just get 7 yards through the air at will. A problem the Seahawks will also have as long as NE can avoid their DB's jumping routes.
Ravens DB's were a HUGE liability and all knew that going in. They didn't (couldn't) press coverage and just flat out had no chance as Brady threw at Ravens 8th DB #38 all game. Seattle will suffocate the dinks and dunks.

We still have to listen to "the Seahawks didn't play any good QB's the second half of the season" after we just beat Aaron ####### Rodgers after spotting him 5 turnovers, and holding him to under 200 yards of passing, while Wilson improves to 10-0 against SB winning quarterbacks? Really? Can't you guys make some other crap up this week so at least the crap is different?

I was at the bar tonight with a bunch of Brady haters. I don't get why people hate Brady, guy is awesome.

I hope he sucks on January 31st, but the guy is balls deep. Stop hating yo.
My guess is that his extreme sexiness stirs up feelings in them they are not ready to handle.

LMAO first of all you don't start sentences with and, and second of all did you watch the game???? The D can't carry them WHAT??????? u serious bro... did you not see the 6 turnovers and the 2 goalline stands.... That game could have been over in the first half if not for the D. I hate to bash other posters because I believe we all make this thread amazing but that was the stupidest post I ever read... Number 1 d, gave up 15 points per game all year, one of the top 3 all time great Defenses up with the 85 Bears and 00 Ravens and your gonna sit their and say the D can't bail them out after they played their asses off and held Rogers under 200 and basically got the job done big time. Shots out to Russell Wilson, guy is a super competitor and he is an amazing person. 90 percent of the Qbs would have been out of the game after the Matthews blindside dirty hit.... Funny to me that if SUH did that the world would have stopped. Matthews puts a super dirty hit trying to knock the guy out and no one says a word, no penalty, nothing ...... If you go and watch that hit that was vicious and Im surprised Russell stayed in game and didn't have concussion.... I almost guarantee Wilson won that game for them with a concussion.... Baller, no other word to describe it, even after having a horrendous start. 27-21 Seattle Wins Back2Back superbowls and Russell goes on to beat the 2 greatest qbs in history in back2back years... DYNASTY, and I called it back in august :IBTL: :IBTL: :IBTL: :IBTL: . Hope you pats fans don't put to much money on your boy brady, 3/6 aint to shabby though... Russell 2/2 :tebow: :tebow:

How can a team be this undisciplined in a championship game?
That's what happens when you beat up on an easy schedule for most of the season
Stolen from the NFC thread, had to point this one out because devouredbyamoron is one of the worst posters on this board.

Seahawks have the #1 SOS among ALL playoff teams. :bye:
Do you actually believe Seattle's schedule was harder than NEs?

It wasn't, not even close........
Do you actually not consider SOS? It's a ####### statistic fact tubby, look it up. :bye:
Based on 2013 results, at the start of this season, SEA had the 6th ranked SOS. DEN had the 2nd and SF had the 5th. So 3rd toughest based on 2013.

Based on 2014 results, SEA had the 14th ranked SOS, NE had the 6th. Also ahead of SEA was DEN, SF, ARI and GB.

I'd rather rank SOS on real results given the actual games played rather than last years results, where the teams change over the offseason.

Line Even makes more sense than the nonsense floated in here last night that the Hawks would be favored by 2.5++

Pats will win outright. Shame the line wasn't as claimed so the ML would be nicer.

I feel like more than ever before this game is going to be decided more by which coaching staff has the best plan and not as much about the players, unless there is something significantly great/bad about their execution.

There's only one coach I'm not comfortable with when Carroll is matching wits with them. Unfortunately, it's Belicheck.

As long as Patriots don't kick field goals from 6 inches from the goal line, they should be OK.
Do you think Seattle is gonna turn it over 6 times???????? That is amazing and just shows the mettle of the team to be able to beat a great team, even at home in them circumstances. I don't think New England is gonna be ok at all....

He's already in the best of all-time discussion, IMO, and I don't think losing this game would hurt his legacy at all. I never get why some think losing the Super Bowl should count against you, as if it's somehow better to lose earlier in the playoffs.
Great point.

I'll take Brady and whatever SB losses he has over Manning any day. NE isn't even in SB without Brady's performance v. Baltimore.

Brady is the best QB to ever play the game. Period.

So you're not going to give as much or even more credit to BB?

sounds like Sherman's injury is thought to be ulnar nerve damage, steroids being one of the ways to assist in the healing so I'm guessing he will be fine come February 1st.

Seattle, dynasty?? Lol. Let me know once they've had continued success for over 10 years, and win more than one Super Bowl. Then you can start the dynasty talk.

In the last 8 games Seattle has allowed a total of 13pts in the 4th quarter. The Patriots have allowed 12pts. People should really stop underestimating this Pats defense..
