Surprise picks in your guppie leagues (1 Viewer)

draft last night -- guy with the 7th pick in round 1 chooses Drew Brees. Seems a little early, but maybe he'll repeat last year. then he drafts Peyton Manning in round 2! and there's never any trading in this league. lucky for him that they have different bye weeks!

I was in a $100 league once where a friend of mine that I brought to the league took Don McNabb in round one, Anthony Thomas (2nd year) in round two, and then proceeded to select every other Bears skill player before adding anyone else. I was fairly embarrassed.

This guy is not a guppy, nor is the league a guppy league, but in an 18 team PPR and IDP, my friend chose to go WR-WR-WR-WR (he can start 4 WR). By the time he was picking in the fourth, he IM'ed about what he should do...I said he should go for Spiller, yet he said he could not pass up Ocho as his WR#4...lol. He ended up with Michael Bush as his RB1 :banned:

ocho as a wr4 in an 18 team league where he can start 4 wr isnt that bad.

Does Adrian Peterson (the one recently cut by Seattle) at 1.05 after I took ADP at 1.02 count as a surprise? Yeah...that guy took a lot of crap tonight.

As far as non-mistake picks go, Favre went at 4.08 in a 12 team tonight. The sad thing is the guy who took him knows what he is doing too.

Nope...pretty gutsy (did not mean to make it sound bad, just crazy/ballsy). But when you pick Michael Bush as your RB1 and then have to burn a pick on a QB (Eli...which was great) and TE (Cooley...not so great), you can get yourself in real trouble. Now he did end up with D Brown at RB after Bush, but if he starts to chase RBs, he will start to miss out on IDPs, and if he starts to pay attention to the defensive side (and backups for his QB and TE), he will end up with Joe McKnight as his RB3.He did kill it when it came to WRs: White, Wayne, Crabtree and Ocho.

Ben Tate- RB in the 9th round.
Happened in our draft too. The guy was using an old magazine as his cheat sheet.
This almost happened in our league too but we have a rule against rostering IR players so he was stopped before the sticker hit the sheet. This league is a 14 team league ($250 entry) and I somehow walked away with:

QB: McNabb / Smith (Yes, weak...yes..bye week issues)

RB: CJ3 / PThomas / CJ Spilller / A Foster

WR: Fitzgerald / Austin / Knox / Gaffney

TE: Finley

PK: Folk

DEF: Eagles / Colts

25yds / 10yds / 10yds / All TDs 6pts / No PPR

Some of my favorite picks:

Jacobs @ 3.10

Favre @ 3.09

Slaton coming off in the 7th while Foster falls to me in the 11th.

6 of 14 picks in the 5th round were Defenses.

9 TE taken before the end of round 4.

Schianco / BEdwards / Cooley / Steelers D coming off in the 4th

One team taking two Defenses in the first 10 rounds (packers @ 7 // Bengals @ 10)

Last year in my 2QB league a guy drafted Aaron Rodgers in the 2nd and Brett Favre in the 3rd. We all were like "are you sure man?" He fooled us I guess. Don't have any for this year yet but my favorite from last year was a guy who drafted LenDale White in the 2nd round. I laughed so hard and it was a group of loosley affiliated co-workers. They all looked at me like I was nuts.
