Survivor Season 42: Starts Wednesday March 9, 2022 (2 Viewers)

Reem complaining that they have to hike everyday to get rice. She should be eliminated just for that comment.

Bad luck for Chris. Sometimes it's better to just go with the easier, obvious choice (Wendy).

And why is Wendy even playing the game if her main concern for the chickens is going to put her at odds with everyone else on the tribe. People's lack of self awareness is amazing.
Agree on points 1 and 3.  Chris caused his own demise.  He knew from last week that Wardog did not want to get rid of Kelly.  David told him that their plan would fall apart if went and told Wardog, which he then did, which then caused Kelly to target Chris.  He tried playing the game being honest with everyone and it just can't be done.

Not everyone needs to be in on your plan.

David's comment, "If I vote out Chris, then Wardog/Kelly will not know I was the one who really wants Kelly out" was really revealing to me.  At that point I was sure Chris was going home.

Being on the losing tribe so far, David is playing a really good game.  Seems to be the only returning players without a target on his back.

You are right about Chris. I had forgotten his previous conversations with wardog.

David is a very good (maybe excellent) social player which Wentworth is not. Wentworth, to her credit knows this, she just is unable to change who she is, which is why she will always be a target. David also is a great strategist as evidenced by his quote above. It's not just what you do in the game, but what people think you did. Next level players think about those perceptions.

I think what David and Kelly show is that it’s not really that hard to be a returning player if you socialize and get the people early. Joe and Aubrey have no social game (Joe’s never had that) and they were on the outs early. I don’t remember either of them having any real meaningful conversations with the other 6 outside of Aubrey’s awful repetitions.

Also, Chris was an idiot. When you already have a 4-3 advantage just shut up and deal with the consequences later. If wardog hates you now, who cares, it’s 4-2. If you can reign him back in everything is copacetic. It was funny when Chris thought he was super tight with wardog and wardog says that he trusted Kelly more. Chris totally sent himself home. He wasn’t close to a target. It does amaze me how bad some of these people are at the game.

Guess this went over my head... If you voted out Kelly who cares what she knows?  She is gone and you have a 4-2 advantage in the tribe.  Seems better than losing a potential ally in Chris.

The fact that Chris couldn't take advice seems like a bigger reason to let him go...  Or, perhaps, David couldn't be sure of the 4th vote?

I may amend my earlier ruling. She’s terrific. Might I say the only reason to keep watching this season?  Lackluster so far. I will withhold judgement but it’s looking like an off season.
It often seems that way early...  Hoping for the best but worried the 4 returning players will make it more predictable.

From the edit, it seemed like David, Rick, Chris and Wendy were a slam dunk to vote Kelly. He may regret not pulling the trigger when she had her back turned.

Now that Wendy's on her own... so long chickens.

I think that's who David felt he had before Chris went and blabbed to wardog.  But, once he went and talked to him, he didn't know where his head was at and it presented more of a risk.

:goodposting:

That was all on Chris. What I do not understand is David choosing to turn on Chris vs. using the opportunity to both get Wentworth out and get Chris indebted/isolated from Wardog - i.e. "I told you going to Wardog was a bad idea, and see it resulted in Wardog and Wentworth turning on you." The table seemed to be set sort of nice for David when Wardog turned on Chris.

I agree with that. Why be scared of Kelly if she’s gone? 4-2 advantage means it’s easy to keep going and you always have Wendy as the sacrifice since she’ll piss people off somehow or you take her to the end and win.

Glad they kept the cute one, Lauren.

Did her new tribe go back to the same camp or were they the ones that had to go to a new place?  She mentioned her HHI but is it still buried at the beach at her previous camp?  Or did they go back to that camp?  Can't recall.

Bogus that the girl went through Joe's bag looking for an idol.  They should get penalized for stuff like that.  Can't participate in challenges/rewards.. lose one TC vote.  Something.  Shouldn't be able to go through someone's personal stuff.

They went back to their original camp.  The "new" tribe had to start over.

They did not.  They had the chickens and now Wendy is the only one left from that original tribe with 4 others from the other tribe.

They went to a new camp.  She must have her idol with her.  She likely only buried it temporarily until she wore something where she could conceal it better.

Oh right, they went to the "other" original camp.

Sorry, was too busy looking at her when she was uhhh... cold.

Yeah they went to a tribal after she buried the idol. Not many players would go a tribal and leave their II buried in sand.

Thought the same thing last night.  Punk move.

Wouldn't that be something if it occurred to her (too late) that she left the idol buried in the sand at the other beach?

why they keep the returning players around, is beyond me.  and letting them do the puzzles?  i'd want a shot to do them.

no more wendy, please.  she almost seems scripted.

Slight disagree, the "puzzle at the end" challenges put a giant target on the person attempting. How often do you see a team with a huge lead on the physical half get lapped by a team coming from behind when their designated puzzle solver takes 30 minutes to do a slide puzzle?

Might as well put that target on the person who's already a target. I love puzzles, I think I'd be great at them, but, I'd never volunteer ahead of anyone else who wants to take a stab at them. And if a returning player can be thrown at the sacrificial altar of the puzzle, I would let them go for it.
i get that, but i'd want to "play", not stand there and watch them lose another challenge.

Think we are continuing to see why Reem was the first one voted out, oof
Watching this season as a family thing and Reem's a weekly teaching moment about a) not being an ####### and b) keeping the big picture in mind when you deal with people around you.

How you can be in a game that requires the good will of the other players to survive and then #### on people who've just been voted out of their tribe the second they arrive at the EoE is mind-blowing.

After the flint crap, then the release of the Chickens I wouldn't have blamed the tribe to purposely lose just to get rid of her.. Who knows what crap she'll pull next.. :bye:

I just don't understand why she is doing that.  I don't understand how she thinks any of that is a benefit to her game play.  I guess she just isn't that smart.  It's the only explanation.

this is part of the reason i think she is a scripted player.

One of two explanations.

1. she is simply :loco:

2. Knows hated/disliked people tend to get dragged to the Final 3 so, knowing they were targeting her early as one to vote off, she decided to go :loco:

They need to focus more on Lauren and her attire during challenges and less on Wendy's plan to liberate all the food rewards going forward.

Pretty dull season so far.

The last one was great.
It is. Especially since not a single person has left the show. I don’t want to see Reem anymore. That extinction island is already stupid. They can’t spend much time there or it eats into the real show so it’s just stupid. At least that other time (redemption island or something like that) there was a challenge each show so someone went home out of the people voted off. I’m sure there will be some big twist out of extinction island but it won’t matter because it’s already bad and Reem is just clueless.

Or should they totally flip it and just show extinction island?  It might be more interesting than what they are currently showing.

Not sure but it’s more of a purgatory type situation and I don’t think they realized how boring it is as part of the whole show. There is nothing going on there and no real incentive for them to leave.

Also, if it was interesting they would show it. Extinction island is probably so boring. No reason to strategize and no challenges. It’s kind of like the show about the stuff you always hear dumb complaints about in shows like the Walking Dead or 24. When do they go the bathroom and who’s mowing the lawns. I’m pretty sure Extinction Island would be the worst show ever. If Reem wasn’t a complete ##### we’d probably forgotten it existed.

I was being sarcastic.  The main show has been very underwhelming to the point watching people sit around doing nothing may be more entertaining than the actual show.

Every year, until the merge, people post this exact message..

Last year, after the merge, it became one of the best seasons... Yet, early on people were posting  ... boring group.. Bad season..
This is true.   But you know the tribe swap was thrown in there to try and make it more interesting and it totally failed.

extinction island is so stupid, hopefully they change that up pretty quick.  I have no clue but I am assuming that will end when the merge comes which should be coming soon.

Got it. Honestly, if extinction was interesting at all they would show it. As you said it’s been pretty dull so far. They love people like Wendy and Reem. When you are that socially unaware of yourself it creates entertaining scenes.

One bit of gameplay interest to mention. David is now proving what a lot of us said last week. There was no point to be afraid of Kelly finding out when they had an easy 4-3 advantage. How he could think that 3-3 with Wendy was a good idea is beyond me. Also, Chris would be 100% locked in with them seeing the 3 votes he would have gotten. Instead, he’s down 3-1 with his top ally gone and his other ally likely to not make the merge.

 .....the show is called "Survivor"....you do what you gotta do....

Yeah the tribe swap was weird. Jeff had two trays, one for each team, so the producers had pre-determined how many of each color each side would get. Sure, it was "random" who went where, but the total divisions were calculated and it ended up totally lame. I don't know what they were thinking.
There is no way there was one tray for each team.  Not unless the buffs that ended up on each tray were randomly placed.

  I don't know for sure, but it appeared he was only offering the tray in his right hand to one team, and the tray in his left to the other.
I was reading somewhere online about this, and it seems that women pick from one tray and men from another so as to not have a tribe all women/men for challenges.

Yeah, that makes more sense.  If it truly were separate trays for each tribe, then it would be impossible to have the tribe basically unchanged like it was.  Not unless they rigged it that way.

But them trying to keep the balance of men vs women the same could end up with what happened Wed night.

it baffles me why that tribe would even consider voting Joe out before the merge.  He is single handedly winning every challenge for you.  Ride that out.  Plus hes a big target after merge which keeps votes off you.

also aubrey made a really bad decision.  Thats going to haunt her.
