T&P Please (1 Viewer)

Great to hear it's started off well!... very happy for you guys and continued positive and hopeful t&p to you Jack and the family

Very, very excellent, excellent update. I absolutely will continue the fingers and toes. Although admittedly I must confess that I tried crossing my eyes for some extra support too. But driving became a little dangerous and I had to revert back to appendages.

You guys keep on keeping on!

edit: Post Surgery lab results are good?

Well... besides the fact that he has cancer...  His kidney function was compromised during the crisis period, but it's recovering nicely.
Kee we are all sending positive thoughts to your son. Here is an extra positive push to you and your wife. I don't know what I would do or how I would cope if this were my son. You are the man. Keep strong for your boy.

Jack came home yesterday and got to sleep in his own bed for the first time in almost 2 weeks

He's tolerating chemo very well so far.  Just some fatigue.  Hope this means he'll be able to power through with few side effects. His protocol currently calls for 3 different chemo drug combinations... he's already been through 2.  The third is still several weeks off.

He lost about 10 lbs while in the hospital, mostly due to a couple days of not being able to eat because of scheduled surgeries/procedures.  The catheter has been removed which will make his quality of life significantly better.  He is much more mobile now and I'm going to start working out with him (light cardio, body weight exercises, etc) to get him back on track.

Continued Thoprawishes please...
You got this, Jack!

####, I didn't see this thread until now.  Thoprawishes for the Keerock family.  Keep up the good fight GB.

Jack had an ultrasound this morning that showed the mass has shrunk by about 1/3.  Doctor seemed pleased about the reaction.  Hopefully the last of the 5 day infusion protocol starts on Monday.  After that it should just be one day a week.

He has tolerated the heavy chemo well, for the most part.  Only experiencing some fatigue and a little nausea. He is having trouble eating enough (just never feels hungry)... need to put some meat on his bones.

Continued T&Ps please...

Great update. Keep trying different foods, eventually something will click and he will want to eat it all the time. Also, chocolate shakes at every meal.

love hearing hte positive update! shrinking tumors is the name of my toiling midgets tribute band.

continued healthy and happy thoughts and prayers from nyc for the kee family and jack.

dunno how this works- but would he qualify for medical marijuana? and/or would you be amenable to that?

Not sure and yes.  Mrs Keerock OTOH, probably not.

Today is day 3 of his current 5 day regimen... making him pretty tired and a little nausea, but all-in-all, still tolerating well. We had to request a new infusion nurse because the first one was treating him like a 4 year old and frustrating him (and us).  Should be a new one today and hopefully will make it go by faster for him.

He got out to watch his summer baseball team play a couple games this weekend... was great to see him in the dugout hanging with his team.

This kid continues to amaze me.  Mrs Keerock and I were looking into cold caps... a therapy that potentially helps reduce or stop hair loss due to chemo.  As we were about to pull the trigger, Jack said not to worry about it and asked us to shave his head.  He's lucky that he looks like a rock star with a shaved head  :headbang:

We are fortunate to have friends and neighbors that are offering help and support, but outside of a couple meals a week, we don't know how to take them up on their offers.  One of Jack's baseball teammates' family got him a cool baseball cap... now he's "collecting" hats so we have something to tell those who want to support him.

What type of hats? Did we ever get a donation page set up? I have no clue how to do anything like that but if it's out there I would be honored to contribute!

Loving these updates! So happy to hear the progress. "was great to see him in the dugout hanging with his team." :D

Do we have FBG hats? Seems like a no brainer

Really appreciate the update Key.  Know that you have hundreds of iFriends who are pulling and praying for your family and brave son.

Anything you need, just post it here.  FBGs gather the wagons when one of our family could use a little help.

If there's anything material he could use to help him past the time (video games, comic books, whatever), just post it.

What would be cool is not donating to buy hats but if each of us got a hat specific to our location and where we live.  This way he can have unique hats from all over the country (and world including our few international folks).  And a lot easier than trying to set up a fundraising site.

Just give us an address or set up a PO Box and I know we can fill that puppy up with hats in no time.

:goodposting:

@Keerock, maybe you should let us know his hat size.

Damn... that's not at all what I was suggesting by posting that.  Just thought it was cool of that family.  But thank you!  7 1/4 FWIW...
What kind of hats?  Baseball caps?

And what does he like?  Should we do sports?  Something else?  Think he would enjoy major sports franchises better or do you think he'd like something like local minor league teams, etc?

Anything really.  Baseball caps, skull caps...  I think anything "unusual"... he has a collection of tshirts from lesser known colleges and sports teams.  He was on Coastal Carolina before they were cool :D
