TE Travis Kelce, KC (2 Viewers)

Well poo. Hopefully he's okay. I've got one dynasty team that is looking dead in the water this year: JT, McL, now Kelce.

Drafting a redraft league tonight, curious how far he falls. Get the feeling someone's going to be drafting him too early and not up on the news.

Damn, was seriously thinking about doing Kelce/Mahomes from the 8 spot in ppr tomorrow night (I live in MO & a lifelong Chiefs fan). That was going to be fun.

At this point, I'm viewing Kelce as a late 2nd round pick for people who haven't drafted yet. I get extra worried about a guy in his mid-30s who is already hurt.

let's play devil's advocate here... the dude is 33 years old , and at some point, the wheels fall off, and the production suffers. it's going to happen sooner or later. I don't get why we're quick to criticize a D. Henry with an insane amount of usage at 29 years old, but a guy with equal usage from his own position is Kelce, a guy who is 4 years older than Henry!
IMO Kelce was best left to others to draft him this season, the high capital investment on a 33 yr old body was just too much for my liking. There's no way he should've been selected in the first round of drafts .

Curious if you made this declaration BEFORE Kelce got injured...

No link but I just saw on Twitter/X that it's 2 weeks
Source?
I was looking at Twitter/X on my phone and didn't see their names but they did have the "blue checkmark" which means they're legit, verified users.

Went back to try and find them again and can't. Don't know if they deleted them or if I'm just not going back far enough in my feed.

Anyways, I'll delete my post since I can't find the Tweets now. Two separate dudes, though, quoting sources they have with the KC training staff.

Kelce should probably just skip the Lions game, if your knee is already hurt, getting it bitten a bunch isn't gonna help.

I am inclined to agree with this because if it is only a 2 week injury he could be back for week two since they have a long week.

Plus if you are the Chiefs it is Superbowl or bust this year. Losing a game to an NFC opponent isn't the worst thing ever.

feels like it could go one of two ways....

1. He is dinged but can play and....... after Thursday he has extra time to heal.

2. He is dinged so let's not play him even if he could give it a go cause......he has extra time to heal since we have a long week before next game.

IMO....I imagine Kelce will want to play and will push to play if he can....but they will rest him

After tests today, the Chiefs believe Travis Kelce’s ACL is intact, per source. There is inflammation in his knee, and they will test it again Wednesday to determine his availability for Thursday night vs. the Lions.

I'm told #chiefs TE Travis Kelce has appeared to avoid a long term injury after hyperextending his knee in practice today. As it looks right now for his status Thursday or this being a 1-2 week injury ... a lot will depend on fast the swelling goes down.

This new info looks promising about him only missing a week or two, but is anyone else really uncomfortable reading the words "knee" and "swelling" together in the same Tweet?

Ed Werder reporting Kelce upbeat after the injury.

Really don't want to drop anyone. Most in my league have a quality starter and are even carrying 2 TEs. Could roll the dice and just not bother picking anyone up tonight since it APPEARS the worst case scenario was avoided.

Could also just grab J. Ferguson who plays in the Sunday Night game (or D. Knox on Monday night). With any luck, I'm either blowing my opponent out (or he's blowing me out) and I'll just drop the TE for some need next week. Of course, assuming any injury to Kelce is a one to two week thing.

Glass half full. It's a Thursday game so we will know soon whether to start him or not. Better than a Sunday night or Monday night game. And then another 10 days till his next game.

They always do that. Any knee injury turns them into softballs or volleyballs.

I've never known the second MRI to be positive when presented that way.

There's likely play in the joint making them second guess. There's not really anything else it can be than ligament issues to cause the play.

I'm totally guessing but....Google away and form your own guess

This is the best case scenario IMO. They were being cautious and why not? Injuries happen and glad he avoided a big one.

First diagnoses are usually good, especially with MRIs being done, but again, not to be a Negative Nancy, but counterpoint is Von Miller last year. Initial MRIs showed no tear. It wasn’t until they went in to do a cleanup that they saw that his ACL was torn.

Reports seem positive and the outcome is likely on the good side of things, but there’s still risk IMO.

Sorry guys....it's my fault. Finally threw tradition out the window this season and grabbed him in the 1st round in two different leagues.

After all, what could possibly go wrong drafting a stud 34 year old TE in the first?
You should drink after the draft, not before.
Didn't drink before or after....except the koolaid, I suppose.

After what he accomplished last season, combined with the lack of "alpha" receivers for Mahomes, he honestly felt like a great deal in the mid-late first this year. With a little luck, maybe he still will be.

Btw, paired him with Kupp in one of those leagues. Might be a long year.....

Was going to take him at 1.04 in a draft tomorrow, now I’m firmly off him. Will be interesting to see how far he falls.

33 year olds and knee issues don’t go well together.

At least you (might) be able to put them on IR and fill the roster spots with up-and-coming waiver wire players. Some uncut gem like Trey McBride might be just what the doctor ordered to fill that Kelce sized hole in your roster.
