Believe me, nothing - no amount of spoilers - will prepare you nor ruin anything about this movie should you opt to watch it. It's.....different.

Actually, that’s probably what I seek out most in movies, more so than suffering or depravity. I want to see something unexpected, that makes me think. Kinda the anti-Marvel genre.

Well, before you get any more spoilers, I'd settle in and give it a watch.

Maybe invite your in-laws over and make some JiffyPop.

My wife still talks about one of our formative weekends on the Big Island. We biked to Volcanoes National Park from our rental, which was just a short 5 miles away, on a gentle hill.

Unfortunately, a big storm hit, forcing us to cycle in the deluge. We picked up groceries in the small town next to the park, along with some movies for the rainy days: Into the Wild, Adaptation., and Goliath. Soaked and covered with road grime, we returned to the treehouse.

Now, Mrs. P is among the most sweet and innocent people you’ll ever meet. She grew up in a devout Catholic household, only watching wholesome stuff like Leave it to Beaver, Little House on the Prairie, and the Smurfs. Neither of her parents curse (nor did she, until recently). She still lived with them when we started dating, in her late 30’s. She also is a big animal lover; to this day will tear up/avert her eyes when animal cruelty ads air on tv.

Her movie favorites are mostly animated, with happy endings.

Anyway, she was taken aback by my selections, especially the last one. Without giving away too much, It’s about a guy who has hit rock bottom, with nothing left other than his beloved cat, Goliath. Well, the cat goes missing, he goes a little off the rails, and deduces he can use the sex offender registry to locate the catnapper. The film’s climax involves a weed eater, pepper spray, and an electrolarynx.

If I’m understanding your film reviews, sounds like Saltburn + Boogie nights would make a great follow up for our next date night.

Saltburn and The Menu for date night tonight. I liked the former better, though both were decent, not great.

Wife was glued to her phone.

She promised to pay attention to Boogie Nights sometime in the next few days, as I'm officially trialing Amazon Prime for the next month (Look at ME!!!)
