****The 2019 Carolina Panthers Thread**** We Rhule At Losing (1 Viewer)

LOL

For starters it was a dumb question, secondly who gives two flips how he responds?  She is a reporter covering the NFL she may need to grow some thicker skin if this is the occupation path she is going to go down.  How many times have we seen players bust on reporters for being fat, nonathletic etc?  She is just using this to play the victim card.  This whole entire PC business has just run way too amuck.  Its not sexist if its the truth.    He just said it was funny.  Why is that such a big deal?  Crazy world we are in now.
I have not forgotten about the sexist remarks you made about NC States athletic director, and the demeaning names you have called her. It is not surprising to me one bit that you have chosen this topic to fuss about.

For starters sure seemed like a legit question to me. Second he gets interviewed after games by female side line reporters and they ask football questions on the regular. He stuck his foot in his mouth and then when given the obvious negative reaction in the room he didn't have the awareness to clean it up.
and?

Seems like her dad never told her life is not fair.  Whats the point of stomping your feet and making a scene on social media?  Just suck it up, make a mental note and move along.  Now its a national story for Christs sake.

I just want to say how impressed I am that, despite living in the 1950s, you manage to access the internet.

I'll add that I do think the Big Cat will have a conversation with him about his remark, and more than likely Cam will issue an apology.
I'll be surprised if he doesn't apologize at his next press availability. I am.aure his agent has informed him that being viewed in a poor light by women isn't good for his brand. I'm sure the team had a talk with him about distractions. He has a lot of reasons to apologize even if he doesn't think he did anything wrong.

He'll obviously issue some carefully crafted apology but I'm wondering if the league doesn't send a message with a short suspension for conduct detrimental. The league has gone out of it's way to be female friendly, breast cancer awareness month is now, they crack down hard on domestic violence issues, etc. They're all about appearances and suspending a star player after a viral sexist comment could be something they consider.

Speaking of apologies......This is just too rich

The league has already said there would be no punishment.

Now that Cam has apologized and the reporter has been found to have her own things to apologize for, which she did, hopefully we can get back to football.

Before Trump got involved the whole thing was virtually over. A handful of players, less than a dozen, were involved. It had become mind of common place and no one really cared.  Had lost it's value as  a symbolic gesture The week after Bozo the President got involved over 200 players participated. So blame the guy who caused it to ramp up

Trump wouldn't had been president if Clinton didn't run so the blame belongs on the female who caused it or the female who covered up for her (DWS)  :P  Ironic we've come full full circle.

26-33-3. Great game for cam. The 28 yards on 28 carries not so much for the combined rushing attack

tough one Thur then the schedule softens. Bandwagon rather empty around these parts

So Cam.had another outstanding day QBR wise. Outplayed Stafford. Dickson went all Olsen. CMC has his first touchdown. Funchess continues to grow in the offense. I was a little aggravated with the play calling. Had them setup several times to abuse them with play action but ran the ball into a wall instead.

The Defense needs to get their act together. These seeming collapses in the last third shouldn't be happening. Hopefully they get it right for Philly.

But with all that we are 3-0 on the road and 4-1 overall. Big game Thursday at home. Winning this one could be a big deal come playoff time.

Nice game for Cam.  Didn't like seeing him take the sack that took us out of FG range when we really could have used 3 points, but he's played well his last two games.  Funchess is becoming a really good target.  The big WR draft philosophy paid off yesterday.  Hope they can continue to exploit the size.

Big test Thursday night.

Why were the Cats throwing long bombs again and again in the 4th quarter, when there was plenty of time on the clock to dink and dunk and get closer for a TD? They were supposed to stop doing that as much, which I thought is one of the reasons they got McCaffrey. The Eagles were in Cam's face all night, and it was inevitable that those bombs (that looked like hail marys up for grabs) were going to get picked off or just not work. You have a better chance at making a completion with a shorter throw. There were way too many drops by the receivers too. With all that said, nothing concerns me more than Luke having a concussion again. That is scary for him.

Cam makes a dozen throws a game where you could throw your average 10 year old out there and reasonably expect them to come closer to hitting the receiver.

I wish I was exaggerating.

Whatever.. just keep scoring me points in fantasy.

I never liked them playing on Thursday night football.  I think it was last year on Thursday night when Luke went down for the season.  Happened again last night.  Feel so bad for him and wouldn't be surprised if he retired, if it is indeed a concussion.  But keep him as the linebackers coach.  Hope he's ok.

The Eagles have a stout D-line but we still can't protect Cam.  I know he's trying to stay in the pocket but when it is quickly collapsing I wish he'd step up and make plays with his legs more often.

Yeah, that looked like Cam of old.  Just chucking it down field hoping for the best.  Many times last night I found myself asking who the heck is he throwing to.   :(

I gotta think he is done.  Why keep risking it like that?

Thats what happens when he gets hit and becomes uncomfortable in the pocket.   Hurney (*gasp*) or whoever needs to make it their lifes mission to draft a suitable oline for him.

When did Cam turn into Donovan McNabb?  When things aren't going just right he seems to lose confidence and with that, focus as well.  Sprays the ball everywhere.  He's been in the league too long to take sacks to take the team out of FG range.  And too old to waste timeouts by not getting a play off in time.

JStew didn't help him out much last night.  That INT was killer.  But Cam did look like superman with his end zone dive.  wow.  I get that coach challenged the play, probably having more to do with giving Cam a rest after that dive.  He looked shaken up.  But why waste the TO when you have first and goal inside the one?  Just hand it to Stew 4 times if you have to.  DA could have come in and done that if Cam needed to come out.

Cam seems to try to put everything on his shoulders when the team needs to catch up in the fourth quarter, and I wonder if Shula tells him to make some plays and lets Cam call it himself, or is Shula calling for these long throws.  Maybe it is both. With that OL, there is no time to get your body planted and your mind right for a good long pass when you are under duress. When Kalil comes back that should help some with the line, but it won't be enough. Shula also needs to get more creative with McCaffrey.

Kuechly is the most depressing thing to come out of that game by far.  I can live with losing to a 4-1 team.  I liked seeking Wilks blitz as much as he did and be aggressive.  Wentz played well - hats off.  When Kuechly left the field though, the entire Panthers D vs. Eagles O dynamic completely changed.  David Mayo =/= Luke Keuchly.

I'm afraid Luke is finished.  Reminds me of Dan Morgan, only Luke was way better.

As for the rest of it ... I know the Eagles D is very good against the run, but their corners are very bad, and Shula couldn't seem to consistently call plays to take advantage of that.  It felt like either a screen to CMC or a 40-yard pass.  The 10-yard outs to Benjamin and Funchess were there all night.  Call an actual SLANT.  It's like Shula gets so caught up in the smoke and mirrors and misdirection he forgets to just play football.  The Patriots are excellent at this.  They find what you can't stop, and they repeatedly hit it again and again and again.  And when you finally dedicate 4 guys to stopping it, they hit you elsewhere.

The other thing -- the OL has been abysmal.  Cam was under pressure all night.  The only runs that worked were when Cam himself did it.  Those are pro-bowl level guards that are in their primes (though i don't think Norwell has made one yet - he's been deserving in the past).  The OTs are awful, and have been awful, and have never been addressed in the draft outside of 4th rounders.  I also wonder if Kalil at C is either slipping due to age or playing hurt, or both.

I hope they bring in the Tennessee guy for the next GM, as I really like how Tennessee built from the trenches out.  Carolina figured that out on D, but the trenches on offense certainly leave something to be desired.

ETA - if they just go with Hurney, I'll lose my mind.

Mike Shula is terrible.... he has been terrible for a long time, yet he is still there.  We have a lot of talent, and he consistently calls runs up the middle on first down when it doesn't work all game.

Looks like Luke has passed the protocol and avoided the concussion this time.  Very encouraging news and hopefully a lift for the team.

With that said, I hope the Panthers sign Bowman.

I read that he is the one who dialed up those long bomb throws at the end of the game. I noticed in the game thread that some were blaming Cam for it, but he was just playing what was called.

Dear Santa,

Where do I begin... Trying to be good and have positive thoughts, but it's difficult when we constantly see our QB getting sacked.

Wish list:

1.  Offensive linemen.  As many as we can get.

2.  Offensive coordinator.

3.  Safeties.

4.  WRs that can separate and get open.

5.  2015 Cam but with the added ability to manage the play clock.  The current version needs 6 time outs per half.

6.  Luke to remain injury free for the rest of his career.

7.  Energy and enthusiasm to return to the sidelines and locker room.

Thanks and have a blessed season.

Sincerely,

Concerned Panther fan.

Apparently Gano is "working through something."  Hasn't been ruled out for this week, but Panthers are working out kickers.

Good thing we drafted Butker and have him just waiting on the PS ... wait.
