****The 2019 Carolina Panthers Thread**** We Rhule At Losing (4 Viewers)

I don't expect to see him this year. Depending on the situation with DWill & JStew our RB corp could look very different next year again without seeing any real dropoff in production.

I also am very excited to see what Proehl can do with Hill....ultimately I think they are making very savvy moves. Stockpiling talent and patching the gap years with small contract veterans. Our development talent and overall depth are improving dramatically compared to past regimes.
I love the idea of HIll working with Ricky. I love that he wanted to work with Ricky enough he took a practice squad position to do it. I hope we can benefit from that. Hill could be amazing. I love the idea of he and Benjamin roaming the field.

Really looking forward to seeing Benjamin, Hill, and Bersin on the field for 3WR sets.

That could be such a good group for a long time if it works out.

Calling it now, Newton won't be back. Without his legs, Newton is a bottom half NFL QB and not worthy of the cash he'll be demanding.

He is as mobile as my uncle Bob, who will turn 74 next week. Newton won't finish the first quarter next week in Baltimore. They'll kill him.

This team is not ready for prime time and can't get out of their own way. Just an awful showing on a big stage against one of the worst teams in the AFC. The Panthers are the Clemson Tigers of the NFL.

I wouldn't mind them cutting bait on the offensive backfield too. Stewart is just cursed and Williams.. I don't even know where D. Williams is. Has anyone seen him?

Well....we saw the blueprint last night. Can't help but think the rest of the NFL did as well. Someone remind me why they chose to do the surgery on Newton when they did. If he can't run, this offensive line isn't going to help his health.

Whats the blueprint exactly?

bull rush our o line to pieces because they can't stop it? drop 8 in coverage because you can get to the QB with 3 because our o line can't stop a bullrush and/or we can't run the ball

Hit Cam hard, but not hard enough to knock him out such that Derek Anderson comes in.

Sorry for that comment, good buddy. They played like steelers of old last night. I was frustrated like all panther fans. But I do see you guys being swept by Cincy and Baltimore this year.

Not to hijack this thread (just responding to you) and this will be my only post in here about the Steelers. I don't think Steelers fans really know what the team is. They have a young defense that has the potential to be good but probably not this year. The offense is very good and will probably end up being one of the best in the league if they stay healthy (they'll need to with the defense). The loss to the Ravens on Thursday was pathetic but it was a short rest against a divisional opponent on the road. They played awful but that wasn't a reflection of their talent. I don't think they're one of the worst teams in the AFC (the AFC is awful). Actually I think they'll be competing for a playoff spot. I would be shocked if they get swept by both Cincy and Baltimore. Anyways, I'll end the hijack there. You guys have a good team that just appeared to lay an egg last night. It's still early so don't get too down......

Well that was ugly. When even Kalil is getting blown up you know the O-line was in trouble. I don't blame Cam's ankle really. Where was he going to go? Pressure up the middle is a killer. Still there were positive moments. Yes Philly muffed the punt but he made some big catches as well. Benjamin bounced back and made some tough catches. But that O-line. Bell back to his turnstile ways and some nice penalties as well. The interior is the real problem right now though.

As for the D I think they just wore down. That's what those long runs at the end are a sign of. This offense has got to find a way to make a huge step forward. Or this season is going to get real ugly.

Pretty much....if you can get there with 4 (or less) you can win the game.

Hello Panther Fans - anyone have any opinions on what went wrong with the run defense vs Pittsburgh? Wondering because I'm trying to gauge how Baltimore might fare vs CAR Wk 4 in Bal.

- Is 34/264/7.8/1 really an indication of a problem, or is the PIT run game just that good so it was just a hiccup with some kind of extenuating circumstances?

- Thanks.

Several uncharacteristic plays. On the two long runs Luke got caught on the wrong side of the line behind a double team. No one filled the gap. I wouldn't cut on that happening again too often. This team prides itself on stopping the run. After each of their big losses last year they came out fired up and ready to play. I think you see the same here. Personally I wouldn't bet on the Ravens running game doing much. Also there is going to be pressure on Flacco we haven't called many blitzes, rarely do, but I think you will see them this week. I expect this defense to show up.

Now the offense? Not sure. Running game decimated. Won't let Cam run. They need to make some big changes and I don't know if they can in one week.

I'm honestly not sure Shula is creative enough either, but that's just my opinion, obviously.

Well I am hoping the offensive consultant will help out but I am not holding my breath.

Still wish Luck would have come out after his junior year so we would have had him instead of Cam. Everyone knew Smitty was going to come up big. But Forsett?

Dwill gets injured braiding his hair. But, there are pieces in place so there's always hope. Still love the Benjamin draft pick.

I'm told the Panthers looked like they were playing without motivation yesterday. Did anyone who watched the game come away with the feeling this team is lacking in spirit or were they just flat yesterday?

All the preseason "concerns" are coming to fruition IMO. The offensive line is a revolving door and Cam Newton can't run. It'd be like telling Brady or Manning to throw left handed. The RB situation is an absolute disaster and the defense has completely disappeared. I have no idea where the D went, but they are needed now more than ever.

The offense has several injuries, and that includes Cam. He is different with his ankle not 100%. There is no excuse for the performance of the D.

Hardy? And we knew the corners wouldn't be a strength.

But I've gone from thinking they would win the division to wondering how high their pick will be. Top 10 seems likely.

The omission of Hardy is not an excuse for their missing tackles, etc. I think it is a bit premature to be sticking a fork in the team. They started out worse last season.

There just isn't a lot of talent on this offense and the secondary has not improved.

I think the team is better this year in the WR position, and Greg Olsen is a great TE. Cam is good when he can use his body like he is used to. The OL is struggling, and the RB position is riddled with injuries. I think Tolbert being out is worse than Williams and Stewart being injured. He can be a fullback or running back, and his absence is showing.

He's part of the reason for no pass rush, but the rest is on the other defenders. It's pretty baffling that this whole defense has been able to disappear like it has.

First play of the game Cam was sacked by a brutal bull rush. I knew it was going to be a long day from there.

We miss Hardy in a big big way. Oh what could have been.

We can't be a one dimensional team. We miss Hardy for sure, but I think the offensive line is our weakest link. Can't run the ball and can't protect the QB. Won't win much that way.

What a downer. I hope they can pull it together but it's going to be very difficult given what their problems are.

We dumped Smith and handed off the leadership to Cam. Unfortunately Cam is spending more time grimacing and getting helped off the turf than he is leading. He's playing uninspired football.

Cam without his legs is an average NFL QB behind a below average line. Longer term this year may benefit him. Last year Cam didn't look good at times, but he did whatever it took to win. This year the will isn't there. That said, he's actually throwing the ball better. He throw one line drive rope yesterday that was jawing dropping. Probably 30 yards downfield to the outside and the ball stayed flat for 25 yards.

I think hell has to freeze over for Cam to lose his will to win. He hates to lose. They won't let him run right now, and he can't be himself with that restraint.

Frank Alexander must really like his drugs.

This sucks, what was once a promising season has turned into an injury, media frenzy, drug fueled clustereff.

There are still a lot of games to be played. Fortunately for the Panthers, the other teams in the NFC South are trying to sort themselves out too.

I hear you totally, but I would love to know that we were going into that with one of our best players and the other best player being healthy.

Cam made some really good throws yesterday. A couple of those drives it actually looked like we knew what we were doing. KB had a couple of drops and the fumble, but rooks are going to have those types of days.

Obi wan looked decent for not knowing many of the plays. He ran fairly strong. And I wish we would see more of Lord Farquaad out there. Guy has great hands.

The second suspension is for a test that took place before the first suspension. Still either way it hurts the team quite a bit. Apparently they are standing by him though.

So apparently the dumpster fire is slightly tamped down. The reality is the Panthers are leading our division and have a winning record after 5 games. We have a sensational rookie WR who seems to be improving and QB who seems to be getting better with every snap. We had a bad couple of games with people not playing like themselves. I think the D may have gotten a bit of it;s mojo back in that second half. I hope it carries over. And I think the offense proved to itself it could score points. This next stretch is the real test. If the Panthers can go 3-2 through it I'd be ecstatic.

Just coming here to ##### about the game and Nugent misses. I'll take a half point any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

When Cam runs this offense is very potent. Don't know what happened to our defense. Any chance Hardy get his court date soon?

Couldn't watch the game due to lightning hitting my satellite yesterday, but listened on the radio (reminds me of the old days). Panthers sounded like they came to play. Really impressed with both teams, though it likely wouldn't be as close if Green played.

Well the offense has definitely started showing up. And Cam sure looked like Cam for the first time. The D though. I mean come on with the offense putting up these kinds of points these should be big wins. Is this really all Hardy? I find that hard to believe. Not sure what to do though I guess they have to play through whatever it is and get right. Hope it doesn't take much longer. If they don't get it together Rodgers will carve them up
