****The 2019 Carolina Panthers Thread**** We Rhule At Losing (2 Viewers)

Interview with Eric Washington new DC on Panthers.com . No real surprise info or anything but interesting to get a take on the guy.

Sorry to hear about your OC hire. After years of living with Turner run offences I just hope he isn't the dagger in the heart he was here in San Diego.

Hurney on paid leave after a bunk accusation.  I am no Hurney fan but this is completely wrong and shows how far this movement has come off the rails.  When even a false accusation causes you to lose your job.  Its quite insane.

Coleman and Johnson cut. Looks like the Coleman cut saves about 3 million against the cap. Got me to wondering if Stew goes as they look to be trying to free up space

So I have to say I really hope they are making space to sign Norwell.
Most articles make it sound like Norwell will be offered a huge contract by a team that the Panthers can't or won't match. The Giants are reportedly going to go after him aggressively.

Yeah I've read that. Still I'd like to take a run at him. We are so close to a truly good young o-line that could carry the offense for years.

Trade news. Worley to Eagles for Torrey Smith. The Eagles get cap relief and some insurance the Panthers get a veteran  deep threat. What do we think? I'm going with cautiously optimistic.

Don't know much about Worley, but Torrey Smith was a disappointment last year.  Glad he's going.

Seems like they had a lot of people to get the ball last year. He did have 13 catches during their playoff run IIRC. To me he seems like Ginn. A guy who has made huge plays and made huge drops. Now I'm not saying he is as fast as Ginn, few are, but he can still stretch the field and maybe tutor our new kid speed guys a bit. So again cautiously optimistic.

As my 20th round pick and 7th WR in the WSL best ball I'm very happy about this.  Predict 50-800-6 and should post 4 best ball scores.

Typical Hurney move.  Trade a starting CB who's on a cheap contract for a guy who would have been cut and available for a lot less.

I guess the hope is they can get a Ginn like performance out of him. If he got to double digit TDs that would be a win.

why trade a starter for a relative scrub?  God i hate hurley.  spend little money and get watkins not leave a hole in the drfense that you now have to address

I think we need to remember that Worley had mostly lost his starting role at one point. I've heard the Panthers really like what they have in Elder. We'll see. In Norvs offense a guy like Smith should have a chance to make some plays. And as I recall Ginn was a scrub. A total bust.

Glad it's Worley and not Bradberry, but I don't see T. Smith helping very much. I know they're looking for veteran WR help, but that's what they came up with?  Seems like an odd trade.

The Kalil brothers' contracts are hurting us.  Wish we could trade them for a first rounder and a bowl of soup.

Hurney clearly learned something from DG.

Good signing.  Would love to add another wr before the draft.  Or maybe give up a later round pick for Bryant to gamble on
I think Hurney just learned not to make emotional decisions. Gettleman made some bad decisions himself such as the Matt Kalil signing.

Poe and KK together does sound interesting. Poe seems a bit more athletic than Star. Has a good first step. Seems like the d-line has a chance to be good.

Bid going past the $2.5B mark.  That's getting a little too rich for my blood so I'm probably out.

Torrey Smith, Jarius Wright.  I guess Jo Jo Natson wasn't available.  Well, I'm sure they're saving a spot for B. Bersin.

It sucks.  Gonna to have to dip into my 401k plan.

I wouldnt be surprised to see it hit 2.8.  Some heavy hitters involved now.  Its obviously going to appreciate over time but the key is at that price is how to make it work in the short term.
