I read an article about that last night. I wonder if it is true. I hope an owner will be chosen soon.Rumor mill saying Peyton Manning being offered a part of the Panthers with the Navarro group.
Someone is going to let Peyton go all John Elway and he likely won't accept anything less. He does have ties to the area spending a lot of time in Durham. It would make the offer a lot more interesting to the NFL.I read an article about that last night. I wonder if it is true. I hope an owner will be chosen soon.
I am thinking he will take over Fozzy's place on ST.Kenjon Barner is back from Philly. Signed a 1 yr contract. Probably see mostly ST snaps.
I wonder if the Big Cat favors him since he has already been a part owner of a NFL team. He also is friends with some of the owners. So it's looking like David Tepper, currently a part owner of the Steelers, is going to be the guy that Richardson sells to. Should get an official announcement in the next few days. Tepper is worth about 11 billion.
Allegedly he has made a very strong commitment to keeping the team here. Really likes the market and fan base. That's what has put him in the lead with Richardson. Plus, as you mentioned, he should be a shoo in with the owners making this all go a lot faster.I wonder if the Big Cat favors him since he has already been a part owner of a NFL team. He also is friends with some of the owners.
Dude seems kindof like the man after reading about him. Passed over many times at his old job, says eff it and starts his own fund, becomes billionaire, buys old bosses house and just tears it down, spends a bunch of money on parties.Tepper with a 2.2 billion bid looks like our new owner. Seems unlikely he won't get NFL approval. He will sell his part of the Steelers if he does get approved
From what I read ( I will try and link the article) was that Navarro was going to have to do some serious liquidation and take on investors to make that number work. Then that is potential danger of actually running the business on the front end on a skeleton budget.Reports are that Navarro had made a 2.6 billion offer and Tepper still got the team. Apparently the fact he could buy it by himself made the NFL favor his bid.
9 out of 10 hedge fund managers preferred Hillary.NCCommish said:BTW Tepper not much of a Trump fan.
I’m not. Can’t have a shred of legacy around when work place harassment is involved.I'm torn on the statue. I can really see both sides of the argument. I'm not a fan of it personally. Not because he proved to be a flawed human being. But because it is unseemly for such an allegedly modest man. As to removing it that's a team decision based on how fans really feel. I don't buy a ticket to support anyone's personal life or white wash their demons. I buy it to watch my favorite team play my favorite sport. My guess is the majority of fans feel the same way. And I don't think that statue is going anywhere.
Maybe 10 of 109 out of 10 hedge fund managers preferred Hillary.
I'm sensing sarcasm.I’m not. Can’t have a shred of legacy around when work place harassment is involved.
Yeah they liked his ability to just cut a check without a dozen partners. Plus they already vetted him for his stake in the Steelers. From what I read ( I will try and link the article) was that Navarro was going to have to do some serious liquidation and take on investors to make that number work. Tepper paid for the panthers with the change from his couch.
lol I also think it looks like a dictator holding a football. I also think it looks out of place between the two panthers.I never liked that statue and wish they'd take it down or move it to Richardson's front yard/porch or something. No political reason, just never liked looking at it. Looks like a dictator holding a football.
Yup, like the two panthers are guarding the royal palace.lol I also think it looks like a dictator holding a football. I also think it looks out of place between the two panthers.
It's like giving yourself a nickname it's just not doneWtf the owner put a statue of himself out in front of the stadium....sheesh....
Tbone.....It's like giving yourself a nickname it's just not done
Your story is what makes me a little confused about this whole situation. The local media wants to totally forget all the great things he did for people, the community and state. The things that people don't know about like how he visited and helped my friend who was dying of cancer. I would bet the bulk of charlotte has a JR story like that. It makes it hard man because he did mess up in the workplace. After hearing/seeing him today I am a Tepper fan until further notice. It's hard to dislike 1) win 2) win and 3)..... win.
Even though JR wrote me, hand written old school style, in response for me sending an email thanking him for giving us a team, I have been over him doing things his way for a while.
I wonder if his comments about two Carolinas is a preemptive soft shot at potential opposition to building a new stadium in Charlotte. He mentioned wanting to bring a major league soccer team to Charlotte as well and BoA stadium is becoming one of the oldest in the NFL. I'm not sure where he'd consider relocating the team to SC. Columbia is the capital but the upstate seems to be growing the most. Still, Charlotte is definitely the best location to keep the team.Watched Tepper's interview after being unanimously voted in. Definitely a different approach than JR. Seemed to make it pretty clear the Panthers would stay in the Carolinas and the first choice was Charlotte. But didn't rule out South Carolina completely. In fact even mentioned there are two Carolinas.
I took his two Carolinas comment as saying why would he move the team to another state, because the name is the Carolina Panthers and there are only two Carolinas. Charlotte is a big southern city, and it borders South Carolina. It is the perfect spot for the Carolina Panthers.I wonder if his comments about two Carolinas is a preemptive soft shot at potential opposition to building a new stadium in Charlotte. I don't think any of the metros in South Carolina are big enough to have an NFL team. Maybe Raleigh/Durham area.I wonder if his comments about two Carolinas is a preemptive soft shot at potential opposition to building a new stadium in Charlotte. The last couple of years Anderson wasn't really all that. My guess is some vet will become available and will get a shot.Just a random observation - Gilbert seems like a big downgrade at backup QB from Anderson.
I have wondered about Morrison as well. Wonder if he will come out okay in the investigation, I’d assume so. It is easy to connect that he did not like the environment and left before he got caught up in it. Or spoke up. But we don’t know. Maybe he realized long term his future would not be with the Panthers. It is a more interesting question now than then.Your story is what makes me a little confused about this whole situation. But it yeah after he fired DG and rehired Hurley it was probably time for him to either fade away or sell the team. One has to wonder what story Danny Morrison is sitting on.
While I agree that there are levels to these things it seems pretty obvious JR was doing things any CEO would be fired for if it came out. Racial slurs, creepy come ons, etc. And not once but as a pattern. He's not Weinstein or Cosby but he was creating a fairly bad work environment especially for women. And lets.not cry too much. He pulled a Sterling and got a massive payday to go. Yeah his rep got besmirched and apparently rightly so, but that check should take a little of the sting out.I have wondered about Morrison as well. I don’t agree with the way JR was running the team going back to probably the 2nd Peppers franchising and letting him walk getting nothing. And the panic draft dealing and picking that ensued when replacing him. That Peppers stuff was really what started us on the cap hell trail. Everything seemed to follow that. People forget that Jake’s deal freed up cap space. Personally I don’t think that happened if we weren’t so up against it.
Nowadays everything is literally black and white. Left or right. No middle on anything. JR upset a couple of females trying to get himself laid. Did he assault and rape? Rape, hardly. Considering the latitude people are allowed when defining sexual assault these days, probably, but in the misdemeanor sense I would say. I doubt he thought it was assault. I think he was coming on to them, in his way. In his mind.
But step over the line in any way these days you are EVIL with no redeeming qualities. And the line moves all the time. Tough crowd. I know one thing, today he knows who his friends really are.
pretty solid post thereI'm not really crying for JR taking his billions out and all. And it looks like we came out of it okay as fans.
It's a lot that I'm not sure I trust anyone's account, that took a settlement out of it. I disagree with the mindset that ooh you hurt my feelings pay me. Now you have ever so honest and trustworthy lawyers involved. And the media is not 100% reliable, to put it mildly. We got zero context of the one time he has been accused of using a racial slur. Hell anyone can lose their temper and call someone a name. May not be proud of it afterwards either, and say I should not have done that and will never do it again. Or he may not give a damn. But you'd think if that were a regular thing it would have come out long ago. And he has done a lot of good too.
Sterling, was on tape if I recall. I think he was set up but still, it was him and he was on tape there was no wiggling out of that, no he said she said. Busted. We don't have that here. I will be interested of course, in what the NFL investigation reports. I guess lol. I would hope they don't use the same crew that investigated Ray Rice for Goodell.
I get tired of looking at his sour#### on TV and no communication from him like everyone else. But this guy gets banished to hell over stuff that possibly did not warrant it. All anyone has to do these days is cry wolf and a person is ruined, I guess that is what I would be crying over. If I were really crying.
