cutoff jeans >>>>>>>>>>> jorts

It is tough to pull off, but if you are cool enough, you can indeed rock the cutoffs.

Here's a few I can post

jean shorts, such as those worn by male Florida Gator fans at the Georgia-Florida football game.

"Don't talk to him; he's obviously a Florida fan with those jorts he's wearing."

a combination of the words "jean" and "shorts" used to describe the hideous attire, usually sported by NASCAR afficianados and men over 40. Sometimes Jorts are accessorized with a lovely cellphone belt clip and a braided leather belt, but not always. Sometimes the Jorts wearer lets the Jorts speak for themselves.

While at a baseball game, I noticed a plethora of adult males with no shirts on, drinking copious amounts of beer while proudly wearing Jorts.

Cool enough = in a band Not sure many other dudes could pull of the look w/o looking like they were taking a desperate stab at :style:I should have taken more pictures on Sunday. It was a clinic in "trying too hard".

Here's a very casual comfortable shirt although I don't have it in this color

Question Walt. Why would you go with the $80 shirt instead of the $20 shirt http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/produ...;scid=361689002J
I didn't buy it from there, just used the links to show what it looks like. I got those shirts for under $30 a pop at NM last call stores.ETA: Don't really like the fit of BP and most of what I used to buy from there didn't hold up that long.

Now I know why I stopped shopping there.
If not Norstroms, do you mind if I ask where you do like to shop?Or better, what's your "normal" :style: for:

Friday at work?

Saturday night for a casual dinner?

J
I actually shop mainly at smaller boutiques like HEM for jeans http://www.hemjeans.com/land.htm I'm super picky about jeans since I wear them most days out of the year.

Funny enough I have found a few things at Target of all places.

Puma store

Lacoste although not as much since most have the Izod logo on the front of the shirt which blows

I mainly shop now at a Neiman Marcus outlet store here in Austin.

I work from home

I like Hugo Boss, Boss, Paul La Fontaine, John Varvatos but also have different brands. I am not a slave to any particular brand but have found it harder to find stuff w/o logos on them.

I mainly wear jeans but like twenty four standard shorts. I got a few on sale shorts at REI that I like to lounge around in.

Casual dinner don't really have a typical style but usually a nice pair of jeans with a thin black button down shirt or short sleeve black Hugo Boss. All depends on where I'm going or what I'm doing.

If I wear a suit it's typically Canali

My goal is to look good dressed up or down and not overspend on clothes.

Sure I left a lot out
 Everytime I drive up from Houston on 71, I stop off here. Some good deals if you hit it at the right times. In Austin, I love going to By George (when they have their big sales). Been a big fan of Varvatos since the early 2000s. It's crazy how expensive his clothes have become. A shirt that used to be $100 or so is now $200+. Varavtos Sample Sale in NYC = 25% of my shopping budget for the year. Got a Varvatos tux there in 2004 or so for $300.

No need to call names and yell. Sorry I touched a nerve. And I can pull of the denim short look.
:wall: you don't happen to be a Florida Gator fan do you?
 Pure coincidence.
Left or Right?http://curveballsforjesus.files.wordpress....s-and-natty.jpg
Neither. No cut-offs, no muscle shirts, no tucked in shirts, no belts, no mullets. The natty lite is OK tho. Maybe I need to take a picture and let you decide if I am pulling it off or not.

Yea hit that place at the right time and you can strike it rich. Varv has become way too expensive I agree but I've found some incredible deals at NMLC.

Going to a beach BBQ afterwork. gotta remember to roll down my dress socks on the drive home.

Last I checked, sock lines on the calves aren't in :style:

Kris Van Assche, Dior Homme: “Dressing to show what one has rather than who one is.”
lots of this in this thread
Yes and No.I personally DESPISE clothing items with brand names and logos showing on them (shoes are hard to get away from it though). The bottom line is, higher priced designer gear is just made with better materials, structured better and has more attention to details which all equal :style:. I don't buy anything strictly based on a name or price point, I buy things that feel and look good on.....unfortunately more often than not, these types of items have a higher price tag and designer name associated with them.
Girls, especially <30, notice labels and brand names. It doesn't have to be crazy or outlandish, but IMO a label can be very positive thing. :goodposting:
FAIL

I've had a number of times where a new girl I am going to meet up will ask what am I going to wear and I'll say "Wife beater tucked in jorts and a woven belt with gold chain around my neck" slays them every time.

I've only lived in Louisiana a year and have been wearing good looking denim shorts in Dallas, Denver and Portland. Maybe you are from the east coast? I had no idea that some people put denim shorts in the same bucket at fanny packs and wife beaters. I'll never be more comfortable in anything than jeans when I wear long pants. And if it's OK to wear something in a pant why would it be any different in shorts?
They are effectively the same as fanny packs, wife beaters and Tevas with socks. Same exact thing.

Wow.

seems there are two types of advice givers in this thread:

1) The type who are laid back, don't get worked up, and have thrown out some pretty solid advice

2) Guys who throw out suggestions to buy some seriously gay #### and get worked up when called out on it.

Discussed this at length with the GF last night. I'm seriously considering throwing all my levi shorts in the garbage can. :lmao: One thing I can't give up tho is my black tank tops. Please help, if I wear some :style: shorts that you've suggested is there something sleeveless that is acceptable? I can't stand farmer tans and it's hotter than hell down here.

Makin' some progress GB! I'd like to see some transcripts of that conversation with the gf. "Honey, you and all other women dig my jean shorts right?...."Honestly sleeveless and :style: don't really mix...I can't think of a single decent compromise that could be suggested for a sleeveless shirt that doesn't make you look like you're going to a State Fair.

Flip Flops? And do I have to wear those socks that don't even make it to your ankle when wearing shoes?

I'm personally not a flip flop fan, but they are fine. (no socks though!) When wearing shoes with shorts, the less sock showing the better.

Damn Tony, the more you describe your :style: the more you sound like a fruity hipster from Williamsburg. Found a pretty sweet black tank for you:http://www.barneys.com/Pensive%20Face%20Ta...default,pd.html

Smart lady. You'd be well-served to do exactly that.

What's the thought on lace-less dress shoes with a suit?

Are the slip-on dress shoes only for times when you're going shirt & tie? Or are they acceptable anytime?
