So what do fashionable FBG's use to carry their work laptops nowadays?
I've got a Jack Spade Dart Leather Messenger bag. It's perfect for my iPad, and holding other misc. work items (wallet, checkbooks, notepads, etc.)Visuals here (I have it in black)http://www.techrepublic.com/photos/our-favorite-leather-laptop-cases/6228041?seq=4&tag=thumbnail-view-selector;get-photo-rotohttp://www.techrepublic.com/photos/our-favorite-leather-laptop-cases/6228041?seq=5&tag=thumbnail-view-selector;get-photo-roto

square = manpurse (NTTAWT)don't want to pry, but what do you do for a living Offdizzle? I would lose my livelihood if I rocked a man bag like that.
:lmao: It's more substantial than it looks in that picture (13" wide x 16" tall). Definitely not purse size.

I head up the Project Management dept. of a large Advertising Agency.
there's a "just big enough for a pocket rocket" joke in there somewhere.

anyone?
What do you plan to wear along with these sportcoats as that makes a big difference..- collared long-sleeve or t-shirt underneath?- Jeans or other type of pants?- what kind of shoes?
depends on a lot of factors1) How old are you?2) where are you going to be? occasion?coat/tshirt/vans/jeans for weekend cocktails is how I roll.

in 90+ degree temps? The question isn't if/when to wear a jacket. It's "Is it ######ed to wear a jacket when it is balls hot outside"

When in doubt, probably best to forgo the jacket. But, if you'll be inside an air conditioned place or somewhere that it cools down considerable as the sun sets than not a problem.

No problem, just wear some shorts with your blazer.

Anyone know where the hell I can buy a bow tie?

Going to Vegas and what to rock the bow tie, but having trouble finding one. Preferably tie yourself bow ties.

Suggestions on brick and mortar stores or online would be good.

Went into one shop and they were charging $95 for a freakin bow tie.

Been suit shopping the past couple weeks. Brooks Brothers and Macys will have bowties.

Maybe I need to go to a different Macy's. Went to two around here and haven't found a single one.

Nice. Looking to for a nice plaid bow tie.

Anyone have any suggestions on cufflinks? All the ones I like seem to be around $300+ which I refuse to pay for f'in cufflinks. But all the ones that I've seen that are reasonably priced look dumb and/or cheap.

I've heard one should almost always buy cufflinks used. Pawn shop, thrift store, ebay, etc. Better quality, look nicer, more :style: in vintage links than in anything you can buy new.ETA: here's what I remembered reading:

There are only a couple of kinds of jewelry a man can reasonably wear. Of those few, cuff links are almost certainly the most fun.

First: if there is one style-related item you do not buy new, make it cuff links. Vintage and antique cuff links are plentiful and dramatically less expensive than their contemporary equivalents. Whether you’re buying fine jewelry or a costume piece, you will pay dramatically more in a department store than you would for something similar on ebay, at an estate sale, or even in an estate jewelry shop.
More info on styles and advice at the link.

I bought a few from Charles Tyrwhittthey aren't going to be family heirlooms passed down to generations, but they are of quality and look it.

ETA: wow, they must change them over a lot. None of the ones I bought a few months ago are still up there. Sorta hit or miss now.

Didn't think of that. I'll have to go out and hit some of the local pawn shops this week and see if I have any luck.

You shouldn't have to pay that much. $50-100 should suffice. Some good summer sales coming up (I got a few nice Paul Smith ones for $60-80 at the NY store this time of year). You can always buy the silk knotted links which are timeless and cheap.

brown shoes with gray slacks?

word on the street is hip New Yorkers are doing this now
Hipster?
:bag: dressing like a Soc is so hawt right now. I do like the fact it highlights midtop and higher cut shoes. Works for Andre 3000 but not for me.
also works for that girl in the picture.fyi- the sartorialist is the guy that used to be wife's old sales rep.
I'm coming to realize that, putting aside the fashion aspect, The Sartorialist might be my favorite "street photographer" working today. He's like a preppy Weegee.

I think I mentioned this before, but he's my wife's old show-room rep. nice guy, although his interest in style runs much more towards the preppy/60s-retro than the fashion-forward/vanguard types for my liking.

For the earlier request on where to find swim trunk / board shorts :style:

http://www.swell.com/Guys-Boardshorts
Patagonia actually makes some of the best boardshorts I've ever had. Definitely the most functional. And except for a couple new :styles: I just noticed :loco: , they won't make you look/feel like another older guy trying too hard. LINK.Quicksilver makes crap, btw. Billabong and O'Neil are quality.
I may have to order a pair of these.

So I decided to buy some jeans since my weight has plateaued (lost about 10 sizes), anyway, I had no idea that guys that wear 32/33 waist apparently have chicken legs and a ######. I never had this problem when I was buying big boy sizes. The jeans that I was trying on were relaxed fit but looked more like skinny jeans with zero room for my junk. Also, I am not looking to break the bank here, looking at the $40-$80 window. Any help?

Levis 514 slim straight is the only play in that price range.I personally prefer 511s as they have more of a taper and smaller leg opening which is :style:, but from your post you'll need something with wider legs and a higher rise

I'd opt for these but they're $10 out of your price range. Best denim your money can buy: Gap selvageThe 514 Slim Straight are also good value but not near the quality as that pair of Gap's i linked.
