THE FBG Fashion Thread :style: (1 Viewer)

Please for the life of me and self respecting FBGs who read this thread, please dont take fashion advice from Flapgreen unless youre looking to become a pedophile. Thanks

Here we go. Head over to the Style Forum, Major. You seem like a really great guy. Maybe drop $400 on some suede hightops.

Don't worry, I have a few used pairs I dont wear anymore (slight odor, possible remnants of dog poo on sole). I'll let them go to you for $50. Let me know.

Alright, Major. Bring something of use to the thread besides horrible schtick and outrageously expensive clothes. You don't like my suggestions, that's fine. Suggest some reasonable things and leave the insults for somewhere else. Not everyone wants to spend large sums of money on clothes. You don't own any of the stuff you suggest anyway.

Anyone have any gray jeans? I'm looking for a straight/slim fit gray pair that have been rubbed up nice and hard in another man's crotch.

hey flap- you're not even a little creeped out at wearing somebody else's shoes? I like not paying much, but that's kind of a deal-breaker for me.
what if was a pair of my shoes? maybe they were even still a little warm and moist with the essence of yours truly. still a deal-breaker, comrade?

Went with these over the Tretorn's for a casual shoe. Snagged a nice slightly used pair on eBay for $20. They look almost new. :moneybag:

OK. Any suggestions for under 100?
From what I can tell, you seem to be shot-gunning your wardrobe with $30-80 items. I suggest slowing down, taking your time, and buying fewer and nicer items that might cost a little more but that you will appreciate more and will stand the test of time.

I can't tell what your original question was or I would offer an answer. Casual shoe?

Understood. Yes, casual shoe. Mainly something I'll wear with shorts and chinos in a very casual setting.

This is my approach as well.

But I'm more than happy to go cheap if it's somethign I like. and am willing to see as more disposable (won't be doing this with socks any more though- I've gone cheap socks lately in 3-packs and the these things get holes too ####### fast

Outside of a nicer pair of shoes or a blazer/suit, I'm not paying $80 ore more for an article of clothing. I'm just not when you can get quality stuff for much less. A couple guys in here have made it clear that they don't like Dappered. If that's the case, we're at two opposite ends of the spectrum. I'm not a "Style Forum" type guy, but there is room for different styles out there. Unfortunately, some of the people who spend a lot of money on clothes think anything less than the best is beneath them, so they call everything else garbage. I'm not that guy, nor will I ever be. I'll continue to post things I buy in here and some of the good deals out there. The guys around here are big boys. They can make their own decisions. Guys like Major come across like children with what they post. I'm not sure if the dude really thinks that way or its just terrible shtick. Either way, it looks foolish.

Setting a limit on what you pay is fine. IME, you get what you pay for- so usually the things that are deep-discounted have issues, either design or construction-wise.

Sure, that's how it usually works but it doesn't mean you can't get great deals. The settings where you spend most of your time should also affect what you buy, not to mention geographic location. I'd love to drive a Porsche, but it's not happening at this point in my life. Limits should be set on everything.

I disagree

There's a couple stacking codes you can use on Banana Republic right now. In the promotion box, enter Style25 for 25% off full price item, then enter BRFORTY for an additional 40% off. Does not apply to Blazers, unfortunately.

Somebody was looking for some t-shirts a while back. The Pima Cotton tees are $8 right now. Definitely my favorite tees
I used your BR codes to get three more pima cotton tees. Even got free shipping out of it because the sub total was over $50 even though the final total was $28 out the door.

Outside of blazers, jackets, jeans, shoes, and suits what articles of clothing would you spend over $80 on?

I'm with flapgreen on that one, though those boat shoes are not my style (I rock boat shoes, but not all brown).

Here's my general guideline max price, though I'll make exceptions if I really dig a piece....

Plain t-shirts $15

Printed t-shirts $25

Collared shirts $40

Jeans $60

Chinos $50

Sweaters $40

I couldn't justify paying much more for those pieces. Cheapest way to make sure clothes fit well and look good on you..... workout.

I can't speak for everybody in this thread, but my tastes and attitudes towards fashion fall somewhere between flapgreen and major.

I don't mind spending more on some quality pieces of clothing I really like and if I can get them at sale prices....all the better.

My goal is overpay as much as possible.
