The FF Term I hate most is...? (1 Viewer)

WDIS...Who do I start?

Can;t believe so many people can't run their own teams without having their hands held.

I hate when a waiver wire player is "worth a look." What the hell does that really mean? Just tell me if a player should be picked up or not.

I freaking love its a ploy to motivate. It is especially funny when I use it at work and people have no idea what I am talking about.

MeMo...MoMo...these nicknames are getting out of hand...saw a guy type about Spiderman last week and it took me a few seconds to realize he's talking about Parker, cmon now, it's shorter to just type the guys real name...

VALUE

Ya, I know... Wrong website to be barking about value, since it's so heavily entrenched...

But jesus almighty... Everyone thinks they are the authority on value now a days. Value this, value that...

Give me fantasy football back, please!!!

 and you?
LOL well what else would you like to call it...

"Lots of talk", as in "There has been lots of talk that PLAYER X could take over the starting job", etc.

Then it turns out that "lots of talk" is code for "wishful thinking by people who own PLAYER X".

Every time I hear or read..."tasty matchup"...I wish I could reach through the Internet and smack the author.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I use, "You can't beat that at Cas Walker's" and no one knows what I'm talking about.

Any nickname especially ones that use initials to mean someone.

Spell the name out. It's, at most, 10-15 letters to type.

"PROTIP"

10 times out of 10 the guy giving you the "PROTIP" is either a) an idiot who doesn't realize he is or b) telling you something so obvious that it makes you say "You'd have to be an idiot to not already know that".

Not really just a FF term but I've seen it here a few times recently.

My least favorite is "you can't overturn a trade unless there's collusion", because you most definitely can.

Not necessarily a term, but a big pet peeve is when people put their teams in their signature, complete with scoring system. Do you honestly think anyone cares?

"Starting/sitting player x over player y" threads can get irritating because there are just way too many league variables to make the conversation useful to anyone.

I put the scoring system in my signature for context as certain players are being discussed. Prior to doing that, I had a few people ask about the particulars of our scoring systems so they could better understand my position on a particular player (expecially point per reception or not can make a difference in how some RB's are perceived).

Stafford as a "sleeper" comes to mind hahaha

Real Value is getting Fred Jackson on a auto-pick during your draft because you waited too long.

Also the term "floor and ceiling" 90% of the time the predictions are incorrect.

"defenseless receiver"

there is no such thing......

not really a fantasy football term.....but had to come in and vent about it here because it drives me nuts everytime I here it.....

People who watch youtube highlight videos and refer to it as "watching film on a player" like they're some kind of talent scout. The nerdiness of that is almost comical.

Truncation of player names. VJax, ARod, DJax, etc. LAME.
This is the worst. As an inside joke, a couple buddies and I do find a little joy using the format in group settings on names that butcher the First Letter/First Syllable nickname: CPalm. CNewt. MTolb. PRiv. COgb. It can get a few chuckles at drafts and shortly after nobody wants to say DJax, etc., or at least says it as a joke.

Sleeper

I don't hate it outright, just hate when people call someone a sleeper that rushed/received for over 1000 yards the previous year... or call someone a sleeper when they're drafting them in round 4 of their draft. I don't think you are drafting sleepers in the first 5 rounds of a typical draft... you might get a value pick in those rounds... but probably not a sleeper unless you greatly reached for a pick.
